while the superficial fans are enthralled with amare stoudemire's league leading FGMs and points, it seems that everyone else is missing out on what chris paul is doing. those same fans chanting "MVP" for amare stoudemire are conveniently turning a blind eye to the fact that amare stoudemire is also leading the league in TOs and PFs. :puke:

in terms of traditional statistics, chris paul is leading the league in:

FT%
steals/steals per game

but for those of you who like to visit basketball reference, take a look at what else chris paul is doing:

#1 player efficiency rating
#1 steal %
#1 win shares
#1 win shares per 48 minutes
#4 offensive rating
#4 defensive rating
#4 offensive win shares
#5 defensive win shares

the NBA's most talented aren't even close when it comes to both sides of the ball. lebron james isn't getting it done. neither is pau gasol.

only chris paul. so far.

Yeah. I stay on Basketball reference. That is why in that thread I created about the best point, I selected Chris Paul first. He gets a lot done with marginal talent around him.

He definitely has my vote for the first 30 games of the season. Best PG in the game at anticipating a player's position on offense or defense and his shooting is severely underrated.

now that we're in the post season, i'm bumping this thread.

plus, look at the original post. where is amare stoudemire now?

I almost never get into those "whose the best this or that" debates.
Only stat that matters is how the team does. Individual accolades are just
to keep fans debating....and for Kobe (j/k)

Even after losing David West too. I thought they'd be done for sure after that. At the beginning of the season I thought Paul was playing injured.
Now I think he was just pacing himself and making sure to get to know ALL of his teammates like a good PG should

CP definitely should win MVP IMO but Derrick Rose will walk away with it. CP was the clear winner in 2007-2008 but was robbed blind by the voters so I find it funny that Rose will win it this year despite being the lesser player during the respected seaspn.

On another note, After reviewing the series against the lakers and Portland's against Dallas, I'd like like to see how those two teams would play in a more up tempo O. I think they'd have a little more success than being out in Rd1, especially Portland.
