WOW never thought of him

You do remember it like yesterday because that's exactly what happened and I just read it.

Say no more about little kids and comic collections. I had two younger brothers, one with autism. I practically had to rebuild my collection a couple times and was only able to maintain it once I moved out.

I feel you fam, my nephew has it and loved them to rip up but funny...

as he got older with the therapy he would "DESTROY" anyone who touched them now:lol:

ne the reason I STILL got em!

y'all kill me with this shit.

42 year old Crews is too old to play Power Man, but 46 year old Robert Downey Jr aint too old to play Tony Stark.

and i dont want to hear any shit about being in a costume, cause Iron Man is on screen less than 1/3 of those two movies.

Tony Stark is a regular human who's superhero work would be done by a CGI creation. How would they CGI Luke Cage.
And Crews looks old, no offense to him, good actor. Luke Cage did not start out as a 40 yr old man and isn't one now in the books with a wife and baby. A little "Just For Men" and you take a few years off Robert Downey and Tony Stark can be a 40 yr old guy.
Why is this so hard to figure out? Any first movie is going to be about the beginnings of the hero, so he usually needs to be younger.

, yea, ya'll in love with that dude, but besides his martial arts skills he's corny as fuck as far as acting goes.

Exactly. That's seems to be BGOL's go to supernigga but he can't fucking act. Please see "Spawn" for a reminder. A little MJ White is passable but too much will kill the movie.

Though I am going to check out "Black Dynamite".

Now that he's grown and had 20 yrs of therapy, my brother doesn't even see my shit when he's at my house and if one's in a chair, won't sit down until it's moved.
I was so strict about my books, I think I scared my son away from them. I've seen him borrow other people's books instead of reading the thousands I have sitting 5 feet away from his bedroom.

Nah, seriously. I think dudes on here have a dedicated Michael Jai White poster on their wall, with the mouth cut out.

Chuck, I know you know The Falcon is a Marvel character. But I like the idea of Mustafa as Falcon more than him as Luke Cage. Cage is a centerpiece character while Falcon is a secondary character and Mustafa hasn't shown the acting chops to carry an entire movie. His commericials are great but he should probably start off on another character.
btw, big fan of both characters.

I think he was referring to early Luke Cage: Hero for Hire and not the current incarnation. A movie wouldn't be about Cage as Avengers/Thunderbolt leader but the early stuff with the metal tiara and chain belt.

When he name checked the three "Avengers" books, he confirmed his cred with me.

I understand, but in his interview he said "currently" which rubbed me the wrong way. Which is untrue. I KNOW they're not going to do a movie about a BLACK MAN leading a bunch of white guys. I know this. lol, BUT my disappointment in him is when he said what he did.

I still don't want him. He's not bulky enough. And Terry Crews is not too old. Not at all. Who Says Luke has to be a youngin?

Good sense says. Luke Cage isn't old now and definitely wouldn't be 40 in the original Hero For Hire books.

Now the "not bulky enough" part I can see. Cage doesn't necessarily have to be very big but he has to have some size to him. But Cage isn't Hulk-strong, wasn't even Spiderman strong at first. The gimmick is the steel hard skin. Don't need big, huge muscles for that.

you're a girl, right?

into comics and anime and shit, right?

how come we aint meet when i was single?

i HATE you now.

leave bgol and never return!!!!!

Comics, Anime, Manga, Sci Fi, Action flicks, 4 years in a row i even went to comicon with the hubby dressed up as Zatanna, Catwoman, Felicia((from Darkstalkers)), and old school Wonder Woman. The undisputed Tekken champion((Xiaoyu...ALLDAY, EARLY...FUCK WIT IT! U CAN'T.)) AND me and wifey just pwned our kids for the 3rd time IN A ROW IN WoW arena groups. *Flexxxxx*

Old Spice guy doesn't have the intimidation factor either. Terry Crews CAN. And he doesn't look THAT old.

And Luke Cage doesn't HAVE TO be in his 20's if they're doing an origin story they can go the way of him being a criminal, or they could even go the Punisher route and make it so he was a family man in the hood, got caught up in some nonsense, got framed, volunteered for an expeirment blah blah.

And he's much more handsome and women like Terry Crews and he's a known face, and he's a known actor.

this doesnt mean a cot damn thing. he LOOKS OLD, and it DOESNT AFFECT THE MOVIE one way or the other. the cgi iron man has nothing to do with Stark being all over the movie all the time, carrying scenes, showing his old ass face more than two thirds of each movie.

How would they CGI Luke Cage.

they dont need to! Terry Crews is already a special effect, and Cage DOESNT fly, DOESNT shoot laser beams, and if you cant see that the cartoon iteration is ALREADY patterned after Crews you're BLIND or LYING.

ninja please. none of those "points" affected any action movie of late with OLDER action heroes.

lets face it, YOU think they look too old, they are YOUNG enough for you , but the MOVIE audience doesn't give a flip.

:smh: at you giving Robert Downey Jr. a pass as a super hero but barring YOUNGER Black actors the same leniency.

whats wrong with you? REALLY.

you stay away from me devil woman!!!

i WILL NOT stalk you! i WILL NOT!

FOR THE LIFE OF ME I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE EVEN NEEDS TO BE A CASTING PROCESS....MICHAEL JAI WHITE IS THE ONLY PERSON THAT NEEDS TO BE IN THAT ROLE!!

signage. The other dude will just make the movie look like a long Old Spice commercial.

Because, if Ryan Reynolds can play every white superhero then Michael Jai White can play every black one.

Seriously though, White is the only black action star that fights the super hero look right now. Dude can really fight and he's imposing. If BLADE every gets remade he should get the role. In fact, he's more suited to that role than Wesley Snipes. YEAH, I SAID THAT!

I accepted a long time ago the movies and the books are two separate universes but Luke Cage has to at least appear to be in his 20s/early 30s. You don't start what could be an action movie franchise with a 40+ yr old guy. And you definitely don't go rewriting his origin to fit the actor, you get someone who fits the role.

You're answering this for me. Tony Stark can be older because he doesn't do shit but make jokes and drink vodka. Terry Crews as Luke Cage would have to do stuff. He doesn't have a mask or armor. There wouldn't be much CGI. There is a reason Crews doesn't even do the "tough guy" roles anymore except as an older guy like "The Expendables". Why are you having a hard time accepting the reality he clearly already has?
The comic book looks like it could be based off a younger Terry Crews. Now if you can find that guy, he'd be perfect.

I want the movie to have the best chance of success and that's not with Terry Crews. Again, a good actor who's worked hard to not just be "the big, menacing Black guy" but this isn't the good fit for him at this point.
If Robert Downey Jr was being cast as Daredevil, that would be a mistake. Iron Fist? Mistake. Captain America? Mistake. But Iron Man, a guy who uses weapons and does nothing physical? Good fit. Age is only a factor when the character has to be an action, full contact character. Wolverine's has to appear about 40 in the book but they didn't cast a 40+ guy to play him in the first X-Men movie.
Trying to create some false Black/White conflict is cheap.

Except Wes could act.

Dave, you are age discriminating against the Black dude, and giving the white boy a pass.

that's it, all and final, and it sucks. it has nothing to do with CGI, nothing to do with the action scenes, the fans, or how much money the movie might make.

No, I'm not and I can't think of any other ways to break down any simpler my reasoning.
You can believe what you want and feel how you feel but when you project on me, you're wrong.

How many lines of dialogue in a Blade film? It's an ACTION FILM not fucking Othello.

Acting is more than reciting lines. It's also getting across emotion and Wes got over Blade's inner conflict effectively in the first two very well.
Just being an action movie doesn't mean actors should be allowed to mail it in. We had an entire decade of Sly, Arnold, Van Damme, Segall, wasn't that enough?
No comic book based superhero movie will work on a major scale with a shitty lead (see Ghost Rider).

whatever man.

when i see someone fucking up i tell them.

if they do better, good, if they don't, thats on them.

so at this point, its on you.

Fine. I don't have anything to do better about on this. Disagreeing on who should play what part is one thing but even suggesting that I'm giving a White guy a pass but not the same for the Black guy, even though they would be playing completely different types of characters, is horseshit.

If Terry Crews was to play a known superhero, he'd be a much better fit for Steel, who is an older guy and would require a better actor.

And there is nothing "on me". I don't wear other people's perceptions on my back.
