Would u quit work, move back home to run your biz full time?

Some do depends on you.

Moms wasnt havin that shit. :smh:

She let a nigga come back when i got my deal though

Paperwork took like a year :hmm:

To the OP:

I'll say keep your 9-5 gig, but all other hours, go hard on your shit. When your business starts taking off to a point where it makes sense to quit your gig, then do it.

I really want to get into online sales, but my main issue is having no inventory or an idea on what to sell. I have some ideas, but haven't moved on them yet as it will involve getting the inventory from overseas.

For all others getting their grind on, good luck and keep it going!!!

I unofficially quit my job tonight. The yearly audit is right around the corner so their's no better time to fuck them over than now.

But aren't you fucking yourself over too, or do you have another job secured?

I didnt quit my job, but it sucks up my ENTIRE day. During those hours I am at work I keep wondering what if I was updating my site, going from client to client trying to drum up bizness, how far along would I be.

By the time I get home its close to 8 pm . I need to be up at 6:30 am which means I have 3hrs tops to eat unwind and work on my site. Which in reality is only 1.5 hours. I'm never going to make it like this. My site is more than a weekend hobby. I'm really thinking about quitting but right now my job is paying for grad school.

Good thread...

Do what's best for you..... If you feel you can maintain and why not take a risk.. Sometimes change is good.... I'm facing that battle now...

Just remember...

i DID quit my job, moved into a family owned house, and ran my business.

if you're one of those types who CAN work both without dying or getting fired or ruining your business, do both.

if you HAVE to quit your job...

...be ready for the hardest shit you've ever done. YOU are responsible for EVERYTHING. business taxes, personal taxes, book keeping, staying within local, state and federal laws, making money, PAYING YOURSELF, all while having family and friends thinking they can interrupt your daily all willy nilly whenever they feel like it.

you MUST be organized and incredibly self motivated.

man, once i started to make a little money people started asking if i was a drug dealer, trying to get all in your business, etc. keep them at arms length.

for me it worked out better, but it's been amazingly hard at times. them county taxes aint SHIT to fuck with. file late and they ASSESSING your ass based on what THEY think you should owe. its bad when a sudden bill comes up when you weren't counting on it.

What kind of business did you start? Was it all online? Did you have a tangible product or was it a service you were selling?

It can be done. When I lived in brooklyn in 3 yrs ago, I was selling language cds on craigslist. I was making on average $3200 a month and I was working a full time job. I started because I was on cl one day in the wanted section and a lady posted that she was looking for Pimsluer language cds. At the time I didnt know what that was so I google it. Found out what it was and downloaded it. I emailed the lady and she said she would give me $150. This was right around christmas and she said she was giving it as a gift.

After that one sale, I started listing in NY. People would email me and I would go meet them in Manhattan after work, and I use to work 8-4pm.

Then I started listing in a couple more cities and started mail ordering. After that I set up a free website and a paypal account and automated the whole process, where all I would do everyday is post new ads in about 6 cities 2 times a day. When people go to my site they just select what they want and they pay with paypal. I also setup a google checkout account. I wasnt meeting anyone anymore unless they were close by, so I would go to the post office every morning at 7 and mail packages. Back then I had just a regular phone and decided to upgrade to a blackberry, because I was getting so many orders sometimes I would lose sales because I didnt had internet access at work. I worked at a hospital. So once I got the BB I could communicate with customers throughout the day.

You dont have to meet with your customers face to face, its all how you market what you're selling

I have an internet biz too, I sell on Amazon.
I make 4k a Month right now with room to make about an additional 2-3k. I still work full time.
My advice to you is do your best to do both. Your regular job allows you to get a steady pay check
along with sickdays, personal days and of course medical insurance. If you quit you would not have
those "perks" anymore.
Another thing I learned is nothing online is guaranteed, shit could
flip flop on you in a second. Do your best to do both, if you need to cut down on spending time with
bitches then do so.
Money comes first!!
Just stack your paychecks or vice versa

i want to start selling on ebay... got any advice???????/

to the op..... my manz told me how he used to sleep in his store in atlanta's lil 5pts..... cloud 9.... its like a smoke shop... he sells EVERYTHING + music old kungfu flicks & hard to find shit........ id do it if i was you

always had a love for the community so i started a non profit aimed at bridging all gaps...finding housing, jobs, training, rehab etc for folks who wouldn't ordinarily be able to find this stuff on their own.

i also started 2 different media groups. the non profit keeps me from being broke and satisfies my desire to give back, the first foray into entertainment was a miserable failure, the current one is showing promise.

i never have enough time.
