Dancer, choreographer, entertainment pioneer, Hip Hop icon, and producer...You name it she's done it. Rap City just hasn't been the same since the days of Lez and Joe Clair... Let's face it Hip Hop as a whole has changed since the Golden Era. Lez has changed right along with it...Still hungry and driven she's expanded her career into commercials, broadcasting and more producing.. Growing professionally and personally which is always a good thing. We had to catch up with Lez for some fresh inspiration from a true Hip Hop diva. Still the around the way girl we all love. Lez drops dime on her future and what she's learned along the way.
The Future for Lez “Motherhood, smelling the roses of life, traveling and continuing to work in television and radio. A syndication deal that is even better than my counterparts such as Ryan Seacrest, Carson Daly and of course Oprah. I will continue to be heavily involved in fitness for kids, adults and celebrities. And of course my quest for my ultimate goal of still being the next female action hero. While I'm still able to get my back flip on.”
Black Entertainment Television
“Since I know BET from the inside out.
I can say BET of the past didn't spend money on original programming. They really didn't stretch to have a vision outside of what was laid for them by video directors, rappers and singers. Now that Reginald Hudlin is involved he is stepping up the original programming that doesn't just mimic MTV. I hope to see original dramas and soaps come to BET and not them getting sucked into the world of reality TV.
With that being said BET will never have the talent and personalities they had in my era...Donnie Simpson, Sherry Carter and Madeline Woods. I can humbly say that the VJ's then came with a resume of their own and BET just added to the already list of accomplishments. The VJ's now are faces with limited credibility but I know with every show they will grow and I wish them well”
Role Models
“First and foremost I would say my Mother Who is the most positive, encouraging, strong willed individual I know. My Grandmother who keeps humor in her life and other women such as Oprah for her universal empathy and giving to the human race without judgement or scrutiny”
Lessons Learned
“Always be professional even when others aren't because you never know who's watching. Doing what I love, because doing what I hate makes Leslie miserable to be around. Being a woman of my word. I do what I say I will do. Never say the words I CAN'T my gymnastics coach and Mother instilled that principal in me and that is the core of who I am.”
