Like I can sort of understand Bane because if you play him right he can be like Kraven the hunter but on Venom.

I mean I agree that Bane was a gimmick but maybe they focus on the whole "he was hunting batman angle" have him break batman's back and then show Batman return to kick his ass..... that would add to the mythology they've been building.

Catwoman though ehhh I would have preferred Talia al Ghul for consistency reasons.

They way they wrote Batman in the recent movies (and if you've been reading the Batman novels that follow it) I don't see how he is going to break him....

I haven't read the novels so I can't comment on them but in a way I could definitely see the script calling for Black Glove and Talia in the next movie. Then after some hollywood execs read it and figure out that those characters are really esoteric fan favorites. They decide to keep the main story but use more mainstream marketable characters like Bane and Catwoman.

Also honestly it would be easier for viewers to understand and relate to Batman recovering from a broken back than a mental break down.
