I know your MO and all but man i don't want the negativitiy around this post, it's all about G RAP homie!

you know what... I feel you on that one... Trag definitely gets honorable mention... Without Trag there would be no Mobb Deep or Capone N Noreaga...

I agree, but maybe he couldn't squeeze him in their.
I bet if he said name 10 rappers Trag. would have made that list for sure.

I agreed with his picks all the way up until #5.

50 is an arguable artist for that spot if we're gonna base the list off of the rappers success, but I personally feel like Khadafi got him beat lyrically :dunno:

My top 5 in no particular order.

G Rap
Nas
Tragedy Khadafi
LL Cool J
Run DMC

Based on his explanation, I can understand where he's coming from... 50's influence in the game is second to none...

I feel where KGR comin' from, I used to fuck with Curtis real heavy before The Massacre dropped, he definitely had an influence on the game but I still like Khadafi better. Well, I said it's arguable

He looks like he's dying of something. :hmm:

That's just the look of age, and hard life. G Rap old as shit

a lot of people don't know that homie almost died many years ago...Homie had brain surgery and all that... like over 20 years ago... I think it was like '88 or '89.

What's funny about this cut...My boy K-Def produced this while he was working under Marley Marl. Thanks for digging this up.

K-Def produced a lot of ill music in the 90's!!!

Tragedy Khadafi makes my top 5 easily!! Im not sure if him and G Rap get along too good. Remember they both have Juice Crew history together.
Tragedy (Intelligent Hoodlum) was rapping before all of them and influenced them all.

Trag is a lyrical beast

Tragedy Khadafi - T.M

Yo,
Only one sperm cell survives out of millions
Hustlers strive, the trades we learn by the buildings
In Hell's Kitchen - projects burn the children
Some get locked, lay in a box with no feeling
On my back staring at the ceiling, through dealing
Sweat dripping, hands together, my knees kneeling
Where was God when my pops fell to his death bleeding?
Was he trapped like Martin in his last cry for freedom?
And when I die, will my soul ride 'til I see him?
Never thought that I'd be overseas with Koreans
Rockin' a vest, pushin' bulletproof Europeans
In hot wheels - spit shit the crowd could feel
Spendin' chips on Hilal meals, ripping foul steel
While snakes come behind me to lace my spine
Say grace and at the same time, embrace my nine
We ball like ghetto children in life tournaments
Lusting for platinum chains and ice ornaments
I strive for what I live for - cut from an iller cloth
Plot like Hyman Roth in a loft
Stack chips before the new millennium curse
U-N-I-Verse, we true and living heirs to the universe
Rep' the 41st 'til my heart burst
Ready to die - 'til we seen Biggie ride in a hearse
Yo, your comrades moving like wolves in sheep's clothing
Friends are foes - hanging niggas 'cause they holding

[Chorus]
If you can't hold on, hang on - we can make it
Whatever they don't give us in this life, we can take it
Joy and pain - through the sunshine and rain
As the world turns, life remains the same
We escaped through the flames in this game we bled
Pour some liquor on the ground - God bless the dead
To my niggas still living, yo - hold your head
To my niggas still living, yo - hold your head

Yo, yo, yo,
I blow shots from a drop rover 'til the world's over
Seeing Jehovah through the eyes of a young soldier
Black Moses - literature in pure dosage
From a landscape of Kuwait - Jakes and vultures
Too many of us lose focus
Due to the fact that we're all just a bunch of soldiers
Foul cultures
Funny how the streets mold us
Allah told us - in the cages where they hold us, it's much colder
Hear the pain through my words as I harbor in song
See, the world's rotten like the veins in my father's arm
Used to be a follower of Islam - niggas is sheist'
Study my life - living in these days is trife
Heaven and Hell, a thin line between paradise
Rather than lose, some choose to take they own life
Said a prayer for him, hoping that his soul was blessed
'Cause my hands couldn't cover all the holes in his chest
What they do? Turn around and blame me for his death
I'm like Malcolm X resurrected in a Lex', holding two tecs
Holograms in the headrest, yo
Shoulda knew what love is, before he learned what a thug is
Now we leave the seeds to be raised by their mothers
I've seen the 'hood raise brothers
Kill too many of us
A thin line between the freedom and the foul judges
In the streets, where them snake niggas hold grudges

It wasn't like G Rap and Trag had beef... Trag was a WILD BOY as a teenager... The homie used to get high(not off weed either... :smh:) and was buggin' in the street... They(meaning the Juice Crew) used to look at him as a young loose cannon... In fact, here's a song on Marley Marl's In Control called The Rebel where he never finishes his verse... The bugged out thing was... My man, Joe Fatal, who was Trag's DJ for a minute, was REAL close to G Rap... It wasn't beef, it was more like niggas just used to shake their head at Trag's former antics... but I will say this about Trag... when he came home back then... He got his shit together and became dope ass MC...

Here's the song,'The Rebel'...go to 2:56 and that's where his verse stops...because he got locked up before he could finish it and if you listen closely, you hear where Nas got the title,"Illmatic" from... Enjoy...

^^^ yeah man peace i know the stories and history well!!

i just always wondered why trag and g rap didnt do any real songs together given their queens and juice crew history!!

marley marl lives close to me and a lot of the albums he produced where recorded out of his house so all these dudes like LL Cool J used to be around back in the days.

Used to see Marley all the time. Dude was an asshole lol

Tight interview:yes: Dude backed up all his choices with legitimate facts. Dudes are arguing about who he left out:confused:, the man was only asked to choose 5!

peace

I gotta co-sign all the Trag comments. Trag is easily one of the most influential rappers that help gave birth to Nas, Mobb Deep, CNN, etc. All of em took something from Trag.

Cant argue to much with the list. But who would come off that list if G-Rap was allowed to be on it cause you know G-Rap has to bump somebody.

BTW anybody got any Tragedy music?
