Younger-Ross, Richard That this House notes that in 2002 the Belgian Royal Museum of Africa commissioned a panel to investigate the nature and scale of atrocities committed by the then colonial authorities in what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo; notes the commission was due to report in 2004, but no report seems to have been published; believes that many millions, estimated in 1919 at 50 per cent of the population by official bodies of the Belgian Colonial government, died under the regime of King Leopold II between 1885 and 1908 in what was the world's only privately controlled colony, exposed in part by activists such as Roger Casement, British journalist E.D. Morel and UK, US and Swedish missionaries; whilst recognising the sensitivity of these matters in Belgium, believes the full truth should be known; and calls upon the Belgian government to publish all the evidence that is available and to apologise to the people of the Congo for the tragedy of King Leopold's regime, which can only be classed as genocide.

Great post Kaya...keep informin' us on the regular...:yes::yes:

I tell you, it's not a matter of why this isn't taught in schools but why this isn't taught or passed down by our parents.

This is how mass extermination, manipulation, and confiscation of a people and their resources work:

1. You set up guidelines as far as how you will treat the situation, i.e. ways to go about introducing the plan to YOUR PEOPLE

2. You act as if the other group is inferior to you in every way...that way it doesn't seem as vicious and non-human when you oppress and kill them

3. You trick them (the other group) into thinking that you are providing them a way out or you're offering something that will be their salvation, i.e. Native Americans with religion and worthless trade, Africans with religion, worthless trade and salvation from the Arab oppressors

4. Once you've established that you are a non-threat to them, you slowly start building up your numbers to monopolize the situation...you bring in military, create physical boundaries and section the people off

5. Once number 4 is done, you start to impose your dominance by any means necessary

6. You rape the group of their dignity, resources, and their true wealth, their bloodline

7. Last but certainly not least, you use the vehicle of religion (yes, religion) to do 1-6...what better way to justify your actions...

I'm against racism and even the concept of "race", but it's sad to say...The only way for us ever to rise up and take back a portion of the power in this world is to use similar tactics

Damn, this shit is angering...greedy white men have destroyed so many beautiful nations of color its unbelievable...

Why is it that the race that has caused the most pain and suffering in this world the most hateful and racist??? They have no reason to hate the way they do, while all who have suffered do...the world just doesn't make sense sometimes.

The thing that strikes me here is: why is the white race being blamed when some bearded Belgian freak from 1873 killed 20 million Africans?
Hitler killed 20 million white people. It wouldn't make sense to blame the white race for that either. Or to blame every German alive now.

Blaming a race for someone of particular skin color did to other people of a particular race/religion is plain stupid and racist itself.

As African-Americans we shouldn't be blamed for what Idi Amin did either.

Hating or violence is not the way to stop the suffering. Blaming someone's ancestors for what they did just isn't right. Blaming someone for what someone else's ancestors did is even more wrong.

:smh:

This story should be taught, it should be made into a movie, people should know about it. It deserves more attention.

But it should not justify to hate the white race!
They're isn't any justified reason to hate a race. :smh:
Preach love and compassion instead of hate and fear.

It's about who you are on the inside that matters. Every individual deserves to be judged on that and that only .

I think they teach stuff like this in College. You get the Regular shit in High School. if you want to find out about King Leopold II, look for him at your local Library. Everything can't possibly be taught in High School

look for this book at your local library

"King Leopold, England, and the Upper Nile, 1899-1909" by Robert O. Collins.

:cool::cool::cool:

The reason you hear holocaust this holocaust that it's because of WWII which Hitler was responsible for, over 62 million people died, you can't compare that to 10 million.

It's fucked up I never head of this dude.

But, this is a good lesson for the future for me. I must never ever allow myself to rely on the school systems for my kids education.
