David Aldridge just said the deal isn't done.
It will be done next week.
The Nets owner arrives in town on Monday.
All teams have tuesday off.
As I said before Denver been holding out trying to get the Nets to get AL Harrington.
Kenny Smith said on NBA TV the deal is going down next week.
Personally I hope NY swoops in trade places with us so they get gutted
Knicks won't get gutted.
They'll still keep their core
Amare
Felton
one of Chandler/Fields/Gallinari.
Randolph hasn't been playing so losing him for a pick won't mean a thing.
Turiaf will still be there, and I'm sure Shawne Williams will be too.
They won't be contenders or in the conference finals for another season and more retooling, but they won't be gutted, at all.
The Nets? I think it's clear what's going on here. They tried to start a crosstown rivalry with NY starting with that painting in manhattan.
But they completely whiffed in the offseason. Who did they spend their money on? Should we list them?
So they're the biggest losers this offseason, and they don't have a name to sell tickets.
Getting Carmelo is about two things, and two things only. They want a big name player for the move, and they don't want to lose to NY again. NY gets Carmelo, they have Amare and Felton, decent to very good roleplayers, and the Nets begin their franchise in Brooklyn behind the 8 ball.
This is about those two things, especially the latter. I bet you Carmelo knows it. I think Melo's agent is trying to mastermind this for future deals with players and to increase the power he has in the league. But this trade is terrible for Carmelo, and terrible for the Nets too.
