Chevy Volt.... 43 Grand... 1 Year wait...

Gas powers the electric motor which drives the wheels. Once the battery is drained and the gas engine kicks in, it should achieve a respectable 37mpg.

my bad i was thinkin bout the prius

some of these hybrids are technically ridiculous/dangerous

1 year wait.....that is worth $$$$$ if you are on the wait list.

Over the years I've made a few thousand dollars on ebay from reselling my place in line on the Porsche Cayenne, Nissan 350 Z, and Benz SL.

The problem with electric cars isn't the vehicles themselves, its the infrastructure. To accommodate for an increased demand of electricity, we would have to build new & upgrade the electrical infrastructure; that will cost a lot money. If we really want to make an impact, we have to change the power plants since they account for a huge percentage of CO2 emissions; that too will cost a lot of money.

We need proper infrastructure in order for cars like the Chevy Volt to take off. Billions of dollars will have to be spent to upgrade the grid. It will be several years before we see charging stations everywhere.

true which is why they need to get companies that buy american fleet vehicles in on supporting this and the government to make purchases to spur the volume and get people familiar.
