I was looking at the thread where this woman who was very attractive was talking about how this basketball player said something to the effect of "You're cute...for a dark-skinned girl"...while that statement was ignorant, it did make me think...when can someone say that the type of woman they like is either a preference or a reflection of self-hatred for their race?

Personally, I have dated all types of Black women...but I do have a thing for a thick, buxom light-skinned women (but I've got no problem getting with a thick, buxom dark-skinned woman either). I would never say something as stupid as "for a dark-skinned girl, you're cute", or "for a light-skinned girl, you're cute". I love all types of Black women, and I love my race (no White women or women of other races here)...but I like what I like...what's wrong with that?

There is certain characteristic with every culture that is generally despised. I love my race as well, and prefer darker women at heart. But in reality dislike the demeanor and attitude of darker black females these days. Lighter females can often be concieted, but the dark one are on some serious pinned up anger shit. They speak less when spoken to. IMO, not so much fact. Lighter ones fuck quicker and easier, to me.

Some people can't get past dark skin and those comments have been around forever - along with the "you speak very well for a black person". I remember hearing something similar about a different basketball player back in '88 - I chalked it off as dude running game by breaking her down a bit which is what cats used to do back then. Even Donahue featured this topic when NY was boiling over with racial hatred.

22 years later I can't hate on a cat for liking what he likes or how he approaches a chick - chicks will game you right back and hit you with "oooh this car rides smooth for a American made car - have you ever looked at the BMW or Mercedes models; those sport sedans ride nice" trying to feel you out about that paper and how you spend it.

We had a handful and they were pretty much the freaks so nobody really gave a shit - but the girls didn't know that and it was a fierce competition to outdo the freaks amongst the chicks so yeah the dark skinned chicks won by a landslide in terms of popularity. I never liked high yella light skinned chicks because those chicks were on that "I'm so hood" shit - even in college. When I see one at work I avoid until proven otherwise. I know it's a defense mechanism but it works.

The one things Africans have that no other race has is the wide array of variations I liken it to ice cream (that was my jam back in the day). I like the fact that I can have caramel when I want, chocolate when I want, and butter pecan. But niggas restrict you to one complexion range only.
