From Amazon.com

This watch is powered by Citizen's unique Eco-Drive, which absorbs sunlight and any artificial light through the crystal and dial to recharge the watch continuously. With regular exposure to light, the Eco-Drive continuously recharges itself for a lifetime of use. This watch's Eco-Drive provides a 240-day power reserve, and it can be recharged with just 3.5 hours of exposure to light.

Those Corum watches below are far from "hood shit." Someone said it was hood shit?

If I remember correctly, those watches from that particular Corum collection start at $15,000 or more. I don't remember exactly, but it's probably even more.

Those are limited edition time pieces. :yes:

Pass, they look like Ed Hardy watches.

SmoothD, tight watch. Damn Alumi, that's a lot of bling!

TAG HEUER Link Men's Automatic Chronograph:

Black face, Stainless steel. Its classy without being too flashy. Most people have no idea what a nice piece it really is.

Peace,

Papi

I don't really have it like that, so my watch budget is around 200, but have gone up to 500. For that price, you're going mostly quartz and (i.m.o) the best quartz movements at that price range are Japanese. (Casio, Citizen, Seiko, Orient) If you are looking for a nice entry level automatic, you can't beat the Seiko monster diver that someone else mentioned earlier.

right around 200 bucks- cheaper used or on special. also comes in Black

Black Monster .....

Beyond that I second (third) the notion of buying used. Collectors really take care of their watches, and you can come up on some great deals. On the watchuseek sales forum, I've seen guys come a hundred bucks off the price of their watch in 2 or 3 days, just to sell it. (usually to fund another watch purchase)

I'm starting to get into some vintage watches myself, but again, I'm a fan of Japanese movements- in the long run a swiss movement is probably a better financial investment.

^^^^

For $500 you should be looking at some fairly used mechanical watches. As I said above, the hamiltons and oris watches are some bad ass.

I own the all black military Suunto Core, 2nd from the left on the bottom row. I love my core and get alot of feedback when I wear it. It's actually great for work and play. I admit that I don't even use all the features that this can do.

I've traditionally only bought Kenneth Cole (I like simple and refined designs) but have now moved to a different style...Black on Black watches

I have the ALU-ALU (top row second watch) and have asked for the all black military for the holidays. Like you, I get a lot of comments from folks when I wear my core, mostly from outdoorsy-hippie types

but shit, since my last post in this thread (March) I've bought probably a dozen watches.
:smh::smh:

Latest one;

Invest in a nice timepiece. Get yourself something timeless, not that bubble gum shit that will be played out by next year. Find something that retains some value that you'll be happy to pass down.

They some what's hot now niggas. The only thing they know that was passed down was generational poverty and being a male hoe sleeping around like the female hoes they deal.

I think that people buy watches for different reasons. For some, Function is most important, be it altimeter/ barometer/ compass for hikers/campers (in the case of suunto and pathfinders talked about) or diving timers/counters/depth meters and on. Others may want a watch for its toughness or even for its affordability. Still others just like something that looks good to them based on their own personal sense of style, or the "image" they wish to project- be it tough, earthy, smooth, classic, refined, etc.

I guess I said all that to say that your own reasons for buying a particular piece may not be shared by everyone. That doesn't make anyone else wrong for liking what they like- nor your for liking what you like.

Furthermore, this specific thread was dedicated to watches- and that is why guys are posting the flyest or their favorites. Now you have guys coming in here calling others irresponsible - broke - whores ... based on what? a watch? Guys can really tell that much about another's finances or lifestyle or sexual practices based on the watch he likes? C'MON MAN.... :smh:
How about we stick to the subject of watches and save the analysis of the board members- whom I presume no one knows ANYTHING about, for another... time?

Let it be known, I never gave any analysis on the financial stability, irresponsibility, etc. of anyone else. That is simply not my style.

Your point is well taken on the reason(s) why folks buy watches/timepieces. I merely gave my opinion on the matter of timepieces, a subject near and dear to my heart as a collector. The fact that others gave opinions as well leaves me to believe they are accepted in this post. Are they not?

I don't believe one could tell anything about another individuals finances, lifestyle, or sexual practice based upon one's watch. Did my statement leave you to believe this is/was the case? If so, I apologize for the misinterpretation.

I do, however, believe that one can tell a ton about one's sense of style, which is also up for individual interpretation and opinion. Nonetheless, to each his or her own.

Yeah, i didn't see where you derided anybody for their watch. You just gave your opinion on what a watch says about a man. Just like women and rings.
