Mark Wahlberg Confirms Uncharted Rumor

Mark Wahlberg has confirmed a rumor that first surfaced at Showbiz411 - he will play Nathan Drake in the David O. Russell-directed Uncharted: Drake's Fortune adaptation and that Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci may have roles as well.

Wahlberg told MTV he hopes to reteam with his The Fighter and Three Kings director next year.

"The idea that he has is just insane," Wahlberg said about Russell. "So hopefully we'll be making that movie this summer."

He added: "That's who he wants to write the parts for. I talked to Pesci about it and I know David's people have talked to [Robert De Niro]... I'm obviously in whatever David wants to do but the idea of it is so off the charts: De Niro being my father, Pesci being my uncle. It's not going to be the watered-down version, that's for sure."

The Showbiz411 article said that "the story will have something to do with antiquities dealers in New York."

I remember they posted the rumor over at screenrant.com a few weeks ago and it was a horrible idea then. Now that Wahlber is confirming it, it's even worse. If only Sony realized the huge mistake they made getting that director and now those actors. That director is completely screwing around with the storyline behind Uncharted.

Dude..... are you serious?

Three Kings was great, I heart Huckabees seemed lame (based off trailers haven't seen it) and The Fighter is receiving early plaudits in advance of it's release. He's a solid director. We're not talking Uwe Boll here haha.
