If you want to be technical, by playing him loose you give him more opportunities to see the court and make the pass. If you're up in someone's face on defense you make the pass and the shot difficult.

Maybe but I still think its easier to dish out assists when you're Chris Paul who's a threat ALL OVER THE COURT compared to Rondo who's pretty much primarily a passer rather than scorer. You can't guard a Paul like you can Rondo. Paul has the advantage of being able to beat you off the dribble, hitting the step back, hitting the pull up 3...the Celtics don't ask Rondo to do any of that shit. They ask him to pretty much dish.
