Headliner Anderson Silva ($200,000) and main-card winners Matt Hughes ($200,000) and Jon Fitch ($108,000) were the top earners at this month's UFC 117 event.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) recently requested and today received the list of officially disclosed paydays from the California State Athletic Commission.
The total disclosed payroll for the Aug. 7 event was $1.029 million.
UFC 117 took place at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif., and the main card aired live on pay-per-view. Silva scored a come-from-behind fifth-round submission victory to defend his middleweight belt against Chael Sonnen in the night's highly anticipated main event. Fitch edged fellow welterweight contender Thiago Alves in the co-headliner, and former 170-pound champ Hughes submitted Ricardo Almeida in a featured bout.
The total paydays included:

Now, the usual disclaimer: The figures do not include deductions for items such as insurance, licenses and taxes. Additionally, the figures do not include money paid by sponsors, which can oftentimes be a substantial portion of a fighter's income. They also do not include any other "locker room" or special bonuses the UFC oftentimes pays. They also do not include portions of the PPV revenue that some top-level fighters receive.
For example, as previously reported, UFC officials handed out $60,000 UFC 117 bonuses to Struve (Knockout of the Night), Silva and Hughes (Submissions of the Night), and Silva and Sonnen (Fights of the Night). Silva's double-bonus performance netted him an extra $120,000 in pay.
In other words, the above figures are simply base salaries reported to the commission and do not reflect entire compensation packages for the event.

The pain that hampered UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva's final weeks of preparation for Chael Sonnen was indeed a damaged rib, and it may keep him out of action for up to six months.
Silva was among 14 fighters medically suspended following UFC 117, which took place Aug. 7 at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) recently requested and today received the list of medical suspensions from the California State Athletic Commission.
CSAC doctors suspended the middleweight champion for six months or until he produces X-ray evidence that a possible fractured rib is healed. Regardless, Silva is suspended 45 days with no contact during training for 30 days for precautionary reasons. He also needs neurological clearance and a CT scan before he is allowed to fight again.
The dual suspensions are the result of the champion's toughest title defense yet, one in which Sonnen dominated for four-and-a-half rounds with brutal ground and pound before Silva was able to cinch a triangle choke in the final minutes of the 25-minute bout.
Sonnen, meanwhile, did not escape unscathed. Although he did most of the damage, he drew a 60-day suspension with no contact for 60 days as the result of a facial laceration.
Co-main-event fighters Thiago Alves and Jon Fitch walked away from their second fight without injury, though Fitch took home bragging rights with another victory over the Brazilian welterweight.
Lightweight Rafael Dos Anjos sustained one of the event's most serious injuries when his jaw was broken during his main-card fight with Clay Guida. Dos Anjos is suspended for six months and needs a clean CT scan before he is cleared to fight.

This event marks WECs first visit to Las Vegas since WEC 45 in December 2009 and will also be shown on the Versus channel.
Urijah Faber was expected to make his bantamweight debut against Japanese striker Takeya Mizugaki.[2] However, Faber was forced off the card with an injury. As a result Mizugaki was also pulled from the event.[3] The Faber/Mizugaki bout is expected to simply be pushed back, possibly as early as WEC 52.[4][5]
Stephan Bonnar will serve as color commentator for the event along with Todd Harris.[6]

Man, you guys are missing out. This has been a great card up and down, and The main event is about to start. All of these fights are bangers. From Pettis submitting Roller at the end, to Jorgenson and Pickett in a three round fight of the year war were epic. Hell,Anthony Njokuani versus Maciej Jewtuszko was a prelim fight with a surprise ending. It's almost as good as the last UFC a week ago. This is why I watch WEC on Versus.
Same here, bro. BIG FAN of the lighter weight classes ... as the 135 - 155 dudes always deliver, and are EXCELLENT ATHLETES across the board. Gotta love the smaller fighters.
