John Taylor....I remember this game. Almost brought a tear to my eye. My niners couldn't be touched back then. The reminiscing of 1994 had me reflecting on my team good ol days. We will return to the top this year.....12-4!!!!

Gary Clark of the Washington Redskins....member of "The Posse"

i loved the niners back then but that some poor tackling :smh:

Yeah John Taylor was a beast. My favorite #2 of all time. Second to me is TJ Houshmandzadeh. Don't sleep

I always thought the Niners had it easier back then. Their division was full of chump teams while the Skins, Giants, and Cowboys beat the hell outta each other 6 games a season. The NFC east teams were worn out by the time they got to the Niners in the playoffs sometimes.

I'm not a Dolphins fan but the Mark brothers were one of those tandems you couldn't fuck with back in the day. Too bad Marino never got one.

Cris Carter was not a great #2 with Randy Moss on the other side???

After being #1 for so long, I can't really call Cris #2... Plus Cris was still kinda #1 since Randy was drawing constant double teams, and the occasional triple team.

I'm going to have to go with the other man in that three-man nightmare receiving core...one mister Jake Reed.

Minnesota is my team, and I still will tear up thinking about Gary Anderson shanking that field goal in the playoffs the year they almost went undefeated!:smh::hmm::angry:

no titles. hell even one would get him in the conversation. he has none

What do TEAM titles have to do with anything?? (He did go 18-0, which no one else here has.) You're talking about the BEST at the position. Dude would've shattered the reception record last year if he wasn't injured (already had 123 in just 13+ games), and he's still caught more passes than anyone's ever caught in 3 straight years (110+ each year). And he hasn't even hit age 30 yet. Beyond that, he's a warrior and a sure future HOFer.

PERFECT #2 receiver.

John Stallworth mofos yea he is before your time ...Google him .... Hall of Famer ,Multiple Super Bowl Winner

I know its shocking but the World didnt begin in 1990 ...dumb young bitch niccas

:yes:YUP:yes:

John Taylor compensated greatly for all the pressure received (no pun intended) by Jerry Rice.

I think the sign of a great #2 is the fact that they would be a pretty damn good #1 if they were given the opportunity. Much like Pippen to Jordan and Pippen taking over that one year Jordan was out.

John Taylor gets my vote...

The 15 day noobs crack me up. If you can speak on John Stallworth than go ahead. I can't say whether Stallworth and Swann could hang with Rice and Taylor or Irvin and Harper or even Moss and Welker cause I've never seen them week to week. I do know they were lined up against guys who weren't as sound in their technique. I have Rice the greatest receiver ever and over 20 seasonhad a bunch of cats at number 2 and JT was the best hands down. Strength, hands, speed...all top flight. I do have a question about those (including you noob) who reference the past. Do you think any of those guys would hang with todays dbs. I know why the niners had to bow down to the Cowboys in the 90's They had 300lbs o linemen leaning on our 260 lb defensive linemen. Emmitt ran through mammoth holes and the niners pass offense dictated that we had lighter o lineman. Leon Lett and Russell Maryland would toss our guards around like paper dolls. They would have 8 in coverage and still get a pass rush. Was the same with Pitts in the 70's. We like some of the Patriot Super bowl teams had a mantra. We gonna pass, you know we gonna pass, now try and stop us. rant over.

I might have to say John Stallworth was the Best #2;however, it would have been interesting if "JJ" (John Jefferson) had played with this man (Charlie Joiner) a few more years in San Diego (Air Coryell).

It's not even the same game. These elite DBs today can't breath on receivers without being called for interference. Swann and Stallworth played in an era when a DB's job was to kill the receiver.

Read my mind......Neither of them were a number 1 but you couldn't shut down both in the same game.
