I think I'm Malcolm X , Nat Turner.........

Why is it niggas always want to tell someone what music to like and listen to? You niggas kill me with that shit...........

*Puts on Teflon Don and jams the hell out of it knowing a nigga is somewhere upset*

You killed anything you had to say with your own statement.

nobody telling anyone what to listen too.....

all I'm saying this dude is making dumb ass music....

You killed anything you had to say with your own statement.

There wasn't a statement. I asked a simple question. Why is it that you dudes feel the need to tell the next man what to listen to? I didn't state anything I asked a question. And btw, I fuck with Dead Prez. I was in the Dead Prez thread when Drama mixtape dropped. But I don't sit here and tell the next man "Oh that shit is poison you can't listen to that". I mean shit we're on a porn board for goodness sake.

But watch this thread struggle to make 2 pages and die out(probably before I get any Dead Prez links too:angry:), while a Wackass Flocka, or Cuchi Mane thread easily lasts 8. This may be the most ignorant era in black history, including slavery days:smh:. Still love my people though, just disappointed.

Nah, fam. Don't believe the hype. This is the most educated era in black history. That's why these cacs are trying so hard to display off of this bufoonery. It's plenty of brothas that are smart, enlightened and family-oriented. It's just not the "cool" thing to show through the media.

Just like when they show Africa on television. They find the most unattractive, poverty-stricken woman they can find. They want us to appreciate slavery. To show that they did us a favor. Africa has some of the most beautiful women on earth. It's all a facade and we need to stop falling for it...

No Doubt
& thats where the 2nd UToob was from
What are u looking for specifically that you couldn't find?

When I put DEAD PREZ into the search, over 17 pages of shit comes up including related music by similar artist as well as STACKS of archives for years from up this bitch.
Have u thumbed through any yet?

peace

Yeah, and all the links to what I want(mainly the 1st 3 albums) are dead. If you got the same results a I did(which it sounds like), then I need fresh links. To anyone who's capable of posting those links, understand that they are not just for me, but also for many of the young brothers I've met out here in Phoenix who never heard of Dead Prez. I already got them hooked on the Spook that sat by the Door(some of them are even reading the book), and this would be a conduit towards more social awareness. White folks have really set us back out here, more so than any state I've lived in. And that's saying alot. Peace

I was moreso talking about the people who keep saying "Oh a Gucci Mane thread is 5 pages..." and "Niggas don't want to learn" or stupid generic statements like that. Let the next nigga bump what he likes. Some people like Dead Prez some people don't. I just don't get why its your concern is all i'm saying.

I don't know about your last statement but I do agree about don't believe the hype. You only see "niggas" out here but man shit is changing. I remember growing up it was "uncool" to be smart. It was lame. Man in 2010 that shit is changing. If your a dumbass niggas will call you out on it. Its not coo to be a dumbass. We pulling our pants up. The least of our worries is what type of music we play because its pure entertainment but I see the change out here. There's still ways to go but we've made a lot of progress socially since Obama has been in office.

This is what I said earlier in an NYOIL thread.

Dudes like NYOIL, Dead Prez, and this dude and those like them need to just start jackin' beats from these coon as ninjas, put the truth on the shit and watch how much hotter it will be...

This song made my day.

I'm in the lab doin' this...

It's not hype brotha, it's reality. I work in and have several friends and family in education, including my father and wife. Nowadays most "educated" brothas and sistas are so assimilated from modern perception that they make lite of the blatant racism shitted out by the media and in many cases fuel it by perpetuating stereotypes to get laughs from their white "peers". We have been redused to a complacent, frightened, and selfish grown children who care more for their belongings then their people.

I'm just curious. If you feel this way what are you doing about it? Sitting back and talking about it on a porn board or actually doing something about it? I volunteer at my local Boys and Girls club and try to give our younger brotha's and sistas a more positive image to look at because growing up that's what it took for me to get past the fascination with wanting to be a goon.

And I can say now they're are a couple of misguided kids out there who are having a phase of false flagging and shit like that. But you can't sit here and say there hasn't been progress. Maybe not in your hood but I can see it across the country. Its not something that's going to take a day. Its going to take time.

But I can say that music is the last thing we should be worried about when it comes to our progress in society. Its the LAST THING.

Nope. That won't happen because of money.

It's really up to the producers to team up with lyricist who have good content, not really the other way around.

NYOIL, Dead Prez, and those like them are mostly independent artists on independent labels that can't afford the price of a $50,000 or more beat produced by the same dudes Ross and them get.

Shit, if it was left up to Ross, Gucci, or those like them to be independent and not have the backing of someone like Diddy and Badboy, Interscope and the like they wouldn't be on those beats either.

So your point, although wishful thinking, doesn't really apply...

c/s this statement times a million. I enjoyed Menace II Society & Boyz n The Hood just as much as I enjoyed Roots & Malcolm X. The tracks posted in this thread are good too but thats not gonna stop me from coppin' the Ross album.

Naw you can get hot production for a small price. Look at Rick Rawse. His production cost shit. He doesn't get the Timbalands. He doesn't get the Neptunes. He got the Olympiks, Justice League, Clark Kent, No ID, these are hot producers who make beats but you don't have to break the bank to get them. These same producers are on small indie albums. Justice League, Shawty Redd, Drumma Boy, etc. do beats for underground cats mostly.

And even the major producers are cutting back their rates because labels aren't willing to pay that type of money for a album that might not go Gold.

So you can't use the money excuse. There's a producer in your hood right now that's hungry and looking for that break. These niggas just chose to use ass beats or in the case of Nas don't know how to pick beats.

I know about Justice League, but I've never heard of Shawty Redd and Drumma Boy. I'm willin' to bet they are either dudes that are affiliated with that particular label or are local cats that Ross and them lucked up on.

You right, there's a lot of talent out there, however, you don't think dudes like NYOIL don't do the same things (utilizin' local talent).

I guess them dudes need to start collabin' with producers down south then...

I mean producers like Stoop and the Beatminerz make really good beats, but they aren't mostly shit you will find your girl noddin' her head to wantin' to dance...

P.S. What I highlighted is the key. Half of these muthafuckas out here don't listen to the lyrics or do it as a secondary reflex AFTER likin' the beat.

You hear chicks recitin' lyrics they either don't know shit about or wouldn't be caught dead sayin' that type of shit to anyone in public that's a stranger. Beats are the gateway to the subliminal...

I'm curious... Did you read what I wrote here or any other post In this thread!?! I'm glad to hear to try to make an positive impact on these kids, but your delusional perception of black folks state of prominence worries me. In my short 33 years of living I've been all over this country and have been working w/ "troubled" kids since my late teens. What I've seen through these years(in many different places) has been far from "progress". I'm sure you get a dosage of the real world w/ your volunteer work, but I not only do this for a living, but am also a father and a godfather of 7(in 3 different cities from ages 3 to 22) who is force fed the reality of our dire situation. And honestly, if you don't have anything positive to offer, why don't you go back to the Rick Ross thread.:smh:

I'm already back in the Rick Rawse thread as I type. And there's no delusion on my part. You said black folks right now in 2010 are as ignorate as they were during slavery and that shit there I disagreed with. And I can't see how someone with a resume such as yours could even say such shit. But let me go back to the Rick Ross thread and poison myself because i'm easily influenced and very impressionable by the music I listen to. There's a problem in our community and music is not the concern I have in mind. You eventually see a trend when you see teen pregnancy and impressionable boys who want to be a goon. And the trend isn't the music they listen to. Its the households they live in. Not the neighborhood but the actual households. Fatherless homes, mom works 20 hours a day, Grandma is only in her 30's so she's still hittin' the club up......there are bigger problems in our community than music but let me keep on blaiming Rick Rawse and Gucci Mane because that's our go to scapegoat. Rap music. Only if they had Dead Prez in their life we'd cure all this shit. :hmm:

lmaooo he ripped that shit...

but it will be lost on clown niggas who support romparoom raps and fake thugs.

How can I download this?
I have 2 programs that work beautifully for me-IDM(internet download manager) and replay media catcher. IDM is the best though I control what I down load and the icon sits above all downloadable videos, just a press of a button!

You make many valid points, but you keep ignoring/side-stepping the subject at hand. I never said all the issues you addressed weren't relevent(many more relevent than music by far), but it's not what was being discussed in this thread. Music is a form of education and can be used(and is used) to manipulate, positively or negatively. Especially when dealing with yound, undeveloped minds. Maybe brainwashed or sheepish would've been a better word than ignorant, because your condescending response shows how someone can be informed but unaware at the same time. In other words.... Brainwashed.

I agree 100%, but music doesn't help either....

No doubt. A couple questions though: How old were you when you saw them and when was the last time you saw a movie like Malcolm X or Roots in the theatres/on TV? Shit even a movie like Boyz in the Hood?

They actually do come on every now & then. BET stays showing Boyz N The Hood. TV One will run Shaka Zulu from time to time. I doubt many networks show Roots simply because of the length of the film.

I feel what you're saying. And I understand your stance on the issue. My stance though is that music shouldn't be the problem if proper parenting is in the household. In our community or hell i'll even go further...our our COUNTRY we use video games and music as a scapegoat for why our kids are acting the fuck up. Why Billy is shooting up Columbine or why Lil' Mike catchin' bodies at age 14. I just don't believe music is the cause for this and yea I agree it does do some hurt to our culture but it shouldn't. Movies, video games, music, etc. are all forms of entertainment. They shouldn't be used to educate in any form or fashion. These kids should be told these forms of entertainment are used to escape reality. Not make reality. But in some households TV's are used to babysit. Music is used to shut their kids up. Music is just the last thing on the list of things i'd concern myself with when it comes to our community. Music should be enjoyed. Not followed.

I agree 100%, but music doesn't help either....

I agree. It doesn't help. I just think its far down the line when it comes to our problems in our household and it wouldn't even be a problem with proper parenting.

I saw Roots on TV One not too long ago. When they're not playing That's My Mama and old ass Tom Joyner episodes they'll sneak in a Chaka Zulu or a Roots type flick.
