ATTN: Mortal Kombat Fans....Get over heeeeeeeeeeeerrreeeee!

It looks like it would be refreshing for die-hard fans of Mortal Kombat; personally, I'm excited about it...but it seems a bit too idealistic to be the REAL Mortal Kombat...too many things have been made 'logical'...if you catch my vernacular...Baraka was a BEAST...not a nigga with facial augmentations...all-in-all...I'm intrigued and pessimistic...
That's what makes it more interesting to me. If they can turn this shit into a realistic movie, it'll be off the hook.
For the record, they couldn't have picked a better actor to play Jax.
Did y'all catch the sign on his office? It said Jacks (the o and n look like they had fallen off) Briggs. :D

Name one film, just one, in which a studio released a "test trailer" thrown on the net to see if they should make a film. Go to MJW or Geri Ryan's IMDB pages. Not a thing about this is listed.
In the climate of this market It wouldnt be a bad idea, would you agree?
People always push the bar on shit that has never been done before fam.

Not even connected to this. That's been in developmental hell for 13 years. Besides, it's 2010. You telling me a MK movie takes 3 years to make? GTFOH.
A lot of movies go through bullshit processes that stop and start production many times over. Some movies you see where made 5 or more years ago.

Its a gawd-damn GAME!

Watch This Now: ‘Mortal Kombat Rebirth’

Recently popping up on YouTube is this frankly amazing video for something called simply Mortal Kombat. The video features Jax (Michael Jai White) interogating a perp – whose identity I’ll leave you to discover – in a police station, explaining the origins of Reptile and Baraka, and also features Johnny Cage, a young Shang Tsung, and Sonya Blade (Jeri Ryan).

What appears to be footage from a brand new Mortal Kombat movie [and damn what a movie it would be] is reportedly a viral video for a brand new Mortal Kombat game titled Mortal Kombat Rebirth, whose release has been timed to coincide with E3.
Look out for more news on this iteration of Mortal Kombat as we get it… »

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

the good news.. hollywood is looking at a lot of video games to make movies out of...

the bad news.. hollywood is looking at a lot of video games to make movies out of...

the only bright side is you can expect more gems out of the turds than usual, the games are too popular to not invest more money in a video game movie than usual and the stories for the games themselves are getting better

They can make it happen. I'm geek'd at the idea of some more realistic shit. I don't know who else caught that Scorpion was using an EOD-type grappling hook. Sub-Zero could be using some type of weapon that fires liquid nitrogen projectiles. Liu Kang is easy. Hell, its been done before. All they have to do is make the shit more realistic and its ON!

That trailer had Christopher Nolan written all over it. That shit reminded me of Batman Begins/Dark Knight for some reason.

Tron:Legacy

I'm hearing this is a test trailer also dude who directed Fame did this to convince Warner Brothers to make a Mortal Kombat reboot..

Im sure the acting will be sub par... but Ill be damned if that wasnt a good trailer. The concept is definitely more realistic...earthly...im impressed.

UPDATE 2: Cat's out of the bag. This is for the movie, and it comes from the mind of genius fight choreographer Larnell Stovall. He's the guy who did the fights for the excellent Undisputed 3: Redemption, on DVD and Blu-Ray right now. I hope that this movie gets made with Larnell plotting the punches, because this guy isn't just a geek like us, he's also got an incredible skill and ambition to create the next generation of fight choreography.

UPDATE: For those saying this is a video tied in to E3 and a launch for a new Mortal Kombat game - I am 99% sure that is not the case. This is for a new Mortal Kombat movie.

This video just showed up in my inbox, and while I would normally dismiss it as the work of a fan with waaaaay too much disposable income, something caught my eye. A couple of weeks ago I had a chance to chat with someone involved in the latest iteration of the video game adaptation, and they told me that the hook of this movie was going to be 'realism.' He also told me a couple of other things that are reflected in this video, including the origins of Reptile and Baraka, which makes me believe that this is a proof of concept or demo reel, possibly for investors.

What do you think? Do you like a grimmer and grittier take on the game?

Looks like it could be a movie after all.

Fucking Brilliant! Built in audience, new more interesting and realistic plot that appeals to fans of the orginal game who are older now. It should do really well at the box office. I know I'll see it the first weekend it drops.

Are ya'll serious as good as that trailer was...their going to make that a game and not a movie? Man! Hollywood never gets it right!
