*********Official Lakers vs. Celtics NBA Finals Thread********

Guys like Artest will need to step up... Fish, Kobe, Gasol, etc have been playing well.. but L.A. is going to need a full effort..especially given that Bynum is hurting...because Gasol is going to have a lot of pressure on him on both ends of the floor.... LA will need to shoot very well from the perimeter.... this series can go either way... I picked the Celtics in 7 though.. Game 1 is very big though. LA definitely doesnt want to play from behind in this series..

lakers also have to hit the boards and try not to give up second shot opportunities. contain rondo. we need to keep bodies on perkins and davis.

Yeah... Agreed....this should be a damn good series though... I picked Boston in 7 only because I think they can afford to play no-so perfect ball and still win because of their defense and they have several players that can come up big at any given moment... but we will see.. If L.A. can come out sharp and protect home-court advantage for the first 2 games it may be a different story. I always though the difference in a possible rematch between the two would have been Bynum but that mofo cant stay healthy  because when Gasol and Bynum both go all in the post :itsawrap:

bynum will be key. he will have to suck it up and not pick up quick fouls. control the paint and block shots without fouling. try to pick up some charges too.

I'm also looking forward to the series. Boston knocked off the 1st and 2nd best teams in the league. Will they have enough left to take out the lakers?

With Bynum being hurt, it's going to take a consistent effort from Lamar Odom and Ron Artest for the lakers to win. They'll also have to get Gasol and Bynum involved early in games to help put pressure on Boston's frontline.

One key to the series is Kendrick Perkins attitude. He only needs 1 technical to be suspended for a game and it seems to be inevitable. Will he keep his cool long enough to help his team win another title?

On paper, the lakers have more talent and are better coached but they don't play as well as a team as Boston. the lakers were the better team both offensively and defensively during the season but their team defense has fallen off during the playoffs whereas Boston's has improved significantly (which is surprising because their playoff schedule was much tougher than the lakers).

I wonder what team the ESPN 'experts' are picking for this series.

Bynum has right knee drained

The Lakers have won 10 out of their last 12 games in the playoffs since Kobe Bryant got his bothersome right knee drained prior to Game 5 of Los Angeles' first-round series with Oklahoma City. Now the Lakers hope that a similar procedure done to Andrew Bynum will help them win four out of seven games in the NBA Finals to capture the championship against the Boston Celtics.

The 22-year-old Lakers center had his right knee drained (or "aspirated" in medical terms) Monday morning.

"It was just getting worse," Bynum said after the Lakers film session in preparation for the Celtics on Monday. "The swelling wasn't leaving so we had to do it ... I was doing the treatment, but [the swelling] wasn't going anywhere like in the previous three rounds so I just had to drain it."

Rest of Story

I agree about Perkins

Dude needs to calm down a little bit, Celtics need him out there and he cant get another tec

you can count bynum out. he beatched up during the suns series quick. boston will have his heart before tip off. but if odom and ron ron step up and do what everybody has seen them do in the past, we won't have any real problems containing the celtics and taking the banner in 6

If Boston gets either game 1 or game 2. :itsawrap:

Thats how I see it......

As much as I hate to say it, (and I am pulling for the Celtics), the Lakers might just win this series if they protect home court in the first two games.

The key difference to me between 08 and now is Kobe.

He has actually become a teammate and passes the ball.

If the Lakers get behind (2 games to 1) he will begin to try to do everything and curse out teammates. This will disengage them and the C's will win.

Hang Time Podcast, Special Commissioner Stern Edition

NBA Commissioner David Stern is ready for the Celtics and Lakers to get busy with the business of deciding basketball’s pound-for-pound champ, too.

He also had some keen observations on the league, the proposed ” free agent summit” involving LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Joe Johnson, Chris Bosh and maybe others. And be careful what you put out there on Twitter, because he’s following, whether you realized it or not.

4. LOL @ homecourt advantage against a proven road team in a 2-3-2 format Boston will steal at least one in LA on both trips

Like I said before dog, NO TEAM has won in LA all playoffs long. So, it's pretty much safe to say that homecourt advantage for the Lakers is HUGE! I get your point about the Celts being a good road team against Eastern Conference teams, but this is a different beast in the WEST! And the Lakers have a chip on they're shoulder about 08 Finals. Keep in mind, there are no Leon Powe, PJ Brown and Posey's on this 2010 Boston squad. I think everybody is hyped off the fact the C's beat the Cavs and shitted on the Magic, like that was some huge deal. LeBron bitched up, and the Magics started off slow, Champions won't have those issues in the Finals cuzz!!

And beating a young inexperienced OKC team, a banged up Utah squad and a no D having Suns is better?

The Lakers are ripe for the picking homie. Like my boy said above if the C's get 1 of the first 2 games

Boston beat D-Wade and a bunch of Tito Jacksons, The King whose never won anything and the no offense D-Howard & no heart Wince Harder Orlando Magic who lost the first two games at home.

Don't act like Boston beat a bunch of tough teams because we all know they didn't. It doesn't matter who you beat before.

what you said.

As I told my brother.

I can see Boston winning this series even if the Lakers win the first two games and protect home court but I can't see the Lakers winning if they lose any of the first two games.

True the Lakers have yet to lose at home but they haven't played a team like this.
