Yeah they can but if those last few games against the Suns are any indication of his toughness then it doesn't look to good. Gasol is a really good finesse player BUT with Perkins, Garnett, Wallace and Davis roughing him up like they did Howard then he's gonna have to slap somebody one game to get some respect from them

Still looking at those "stats" i see, if you read my first sentence where i said "IF THE LAST FEW GAMES ARE ANY INDICATION" and watched the whole game instead of when #24 had the ball you'd know that when Amare got aggressive on both ends of the court he was giving Gasol fits

I dont know why cats give Gasol and Fisher so much shit.. Gasol comes through every game with 20 and 10....and Fisher is always clutch...shit...people talk about the shot by Artest but didnt Fisher have 12 in the first quarter to keep LA in it

Fish isn't gonna be the man. But I call fish this- he's a big game specialist. Not three point, not defensive. Big game. Phil knows better than we do. Its why he's still playing and starting. His on court savvy and physical toughness will be a huge help, as well as his ability to rise to the occasion.

Now as for gasol. I think gasol is gonna have a hard time because the celtics will basically pack the paint and dare la to beat them from outside. Which won't be good at all if LA gives in and does just that.

If la from games 3 and 4 of the ECG show up, it won't be good because Boston has a better defense. If la from games 5 and 6 show up they have a much better chance, even though against the suns the games were close.

Boston is a team that dpesnt play very well from behind. LA has to have a very good first quarter. Andrew bynum better play until his knee falls off because gasol isn't gonna do shit against Perkins.

Now it's duke is too old and this and that.

Derek Fisher gets beat off the dribble and etc etc and all of sudden people are talking about trading for Kirk and Devin Harris.

I agree. Fisher may not give you a big game every night but dude is about as clutch as it gets...he always shows up in decisive games or exactly when the Lakers need a big shot at the end of a game....I mean how many times has he done that for the Lakers in the playoffs.. Fish has broken millions of hearts in the playoffs with big shots.... I give him a pass on defending fast point guards on the perimeter... the game has changed and it is just too damn difficult to defend guards on the perimeter, but I dont think Fish does a horrible job of it..he pushed players to spots on the floor to get help.... but I think Laker fans give him too much shit... it seems that whenever the Lakers need a bit shot or a 3 pointer, Fish always nails it (why do teams keep letting him got a clean look :confused:)

On the other part... I agree... Gasol is going to need to play tough against Boston..ESPECIALLY with Bynum not being 100 percent...this series will be won on the block because Kobe and Pierce tend to cancel each other out... Pierce tends to play well against the Lakers.

shit... Boston nees to be up by double digits in the 4th and it still is not safe.. Ive never seen such a good team with several veterans cough up some many 4th quarter leagues as the Celtics.

you have not. because you can not.

i provided a clear example of how amare stoudemire's futile attempt at "being aggressive" ended with a massive failure and crippled the suns run.

there was another similar offensive foul a few minutes prior that had a chilling effect on the suns.

amare stoudemire had very few Q4 points that weren't spoon fed from assists.

so bring some basketball discussion with evidence or leave grown folks to talk on it.

only thing I am worried about is the the league giving Perk a tech for his hand slipping again...you know they will pull out all the stops to help kobe if the Celtics win game one :smh:

My 2 cents,

I'm pulling for the C's I have and always will as long as the big three are there. The match up that I'm looking for to be the real difference is going to Bynum against the Celtics front line. I know that most people won't think about it but Bynum could really destroy the Celtics on both sides of the court.

I mean if you look at the big men that they faced in the EC of course Perkins could hold his own cause he could push them far enough away from the basket that they couldn't be a factor. Shaq and Howard are absolute beast on the block, but with all that size neither of them are effective 6 feet out with a defender between them and the rim. Bynum can at the very least shoot a consistent hook shot that no one on the C's team can contend with. He's big enough to bang and long enough to shoot over anyone. Perkins is just too short to be a hinderence to him.

It's about the only hands down match up that the C's can't deal with. Kobe is going to be Kobe nothing to do about that but Bynum is the only role player that the C's don't have an answer for. If they feed him early and get his confidence up then they can run away with it.....




But I know that won't happen so C's in 6 :D
 
I got the Lakers in 6. Really 5, but I think the league wants to take advantage of the hype, so the refs will be a determining factor in one of those games. I see people talking about Boston toughness, they're defense, and what Perkins will do to Gasol, etc. Here's what you cats don't understand! The matchups are heavily favored to LA because for 1. What tha fuck has KG been doing in the playoffs as a whole? Do you REALLY think he's going to miracously show up for the FINALS? 2. Big Baby defending Gasol? I'll take that bet in Gasol's favor all day. 3. Pierce is not going to be a factor on offense because he's going to have to guard Kobe, where will they get the bulk of they're scoring from? 4.LA has homecourt advantage, and we see NO team has won at the house this year in the playoffs 5. Who's gonna guard Lamar off the bench?

1. KG wasn't a huge OFFENSIVE factor last series cause he was destroying Rashad Lewis's will to live...cats still don't get it KG is on a Bill Russell vibe the exact opposite of Dirk
2. Big Baby, Wallace, Perkins, and KG will all have shots at Gasol while Bynum is watching from the bench
3. The strategy should be to let Kobe get all the outside shots he wants guard the passing lanes and don't let him become a playmaker...I would not be surprised if they put Ray Allen on him Pierce will get his too (Artest will fall for the pump fake all day)
4. LOL @ homecourt advantage against a proven road team in a 2-3-2 format Boston will steal at least one in LA on both trips
5. Lamar is an X-Factor...IF he even shows up he isn't going to be driving around doing finger rolls and getting easy layups
