Hey its my dumb thread of the week.

But im looking at Andre Miller's balding fro and it made me wonder

does anyone know?

if your observation is accurate(im not sure that it is) probably testosterone levels are high and its being aromatized into DHT which causes balding - that and genes are the major reasons for male balding

I don't know if there demographic does more rapidly in comparison to the balding of the general male population.

Andre Miller is 34 a receding hairline is just part of growing up. Black men cant comb over their hair so balding and receding hairlines are more obvious.

Peace,

This and stress are the reasons, bruh. Funny, I just had a similar conversation about this last week.

The more testosterone you have the LESS hair you're gonna have. I'm guessing these large-sized NBA guys have some extra-masculine hormones running through their systems. If you have a full head of hair then you're actually closer to being a woman than a man. You don't see a lot of bald women, do ya? Besides, at least 35% of men start going bald by age 30 or so, and that's a good thing (if you wanna maintain your virility in bed).

You just devastated the brothas on here with full heads of hair.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Really?
I would think it'd be the opposite.

How so?? The more estrogen and less testosterone, the more hair. Why do you think women don't go bald the way that men do???

Fact is, men have simply been ACCULTURATED (through years of conditioning) to believe that a full head of hair is sexy and attractive, when in reality (based on biology) it's the other way around. A balding man is more sexually powerful than a man with a luxurious head of hair. Masculine James Bond/Sean Connery vs. the foppish Prince.

Most things in life aren't really the way we THINK they are.

:lol:wtf, I can't even argue with this statement because I never heard of this, but I'll be back

I don't know the answer...
That was just an unscientific presumptions based on the stigma that comes with men who bare lengthy hair--You know, the whole rebellion thing...

There are some biological facts that people just don't want to know.

Studies show that while balding men don't have higher than average circulating testosterone levels, they do possess above-average amounts of a powerful testosterone derivative, dihydrotestosterone in the scalp follicles.

All men have the same amount of testosterone circulating in the blood regardless of hair status. The main cause of hair loss is a high amount of dihydrotestosterone within the hair follicle. DHT is produced from testosterone in the prostate and various other adrenal glands and in the scalp. In the long run, a high amount of DHT causes the hair follicles to shorten the active life span of hair. http://ezinearticles.com/?Testosterone-and-Baldness&id=302421

You make me feel like a birther, every time you post something I gotta fact check that shit! Sometimes I just want to learn actual facts in replies.

Or you can just dye it black like James Brown on NFL Today.

At Brown's age, he should have a lot of gray hair, but his hair looks way too black for his age.

So your point is having more dht in your hair follicle makes you virile? GTFOH. I'm done with this shit!

P.S. and I'm not salty, I'm going bald myself, it's just that what you said is not true.

why are you arguing with it?

she lies like a rug, and is only here to stir up trouble.

That simple

High testosterone levels WITH ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL causes hair loss

Pop Science (theory) Stress is a form of long term fear - fear secretes makes the adrenaline producing glands (adrenals) work until they are fatigued - and therre is a link with some people and testosterone and adrenaline

TMI Warning I was doing sales a while back and to make myself more aggressive I decided to not *cough* "watch porn" :hmm: a couple MONTHS into it my hair started thinning (If I was younger I think I'd be straight) It could have been stress as well most likely a combination of all three

I think this is why all them monks are bald too...abstinence prolly got them all backed up :smh:

So your article didn't say that the baldness-producing DHT was a derivitive that contained a higher-than-normal level of testosterone? So that means that those with DHT do have more testosterone in their systems.

Don't worry. Your big head of hair won't mess you mess you up sexually. It's just hyperbole.

So the presence of higher-than-normal levels of testosterone has NOTHING to do with baldness-producing DHT??? That contradicts your own data.

Don't get so upset over a bit of hyperbole. It's clear that men are as crazy about protecting their "God-given" hair (and sexual virility) as women are about their weaves.

The bolded is not true. Men all have different levels of testosterone circulating in their bodies. This depends on the pituitary, your prostate, your age, your health etc.
Testosterone that is available for use is your free testosterone amount. Testosterone can be aromatized into DHT which can cause hair loss. It can be aromatized into estrogen too. Fat helps to aromatize it into estrogen.
Bottom line men can have varying levels of testosterone - adolescents and young men having more than older men.

No- more dht means you prolly have more test which means you prolly have better stamina, muscle mass and sex drive aka more virile I guess

Explain body builders with a full head of hair. Especially those who don't do it naturally.
