Since the thread went there:cool:

Just checked it on my iPhone and noticed a change in the youtube mobile/desktop setting.

It now says mobile/touchscreen/desktop.

So when you click on the touchscreen instead of videos exiting you out of
Safari and placing you in the iphone app called "Youtube" it just plays the
video full screen and when your done puts you right back in the Safari
youtube page you where on.

Cool...I hated that about the iPhone one more reason to be a lil more satisfied with my phone.

OK just tried HTML 5 YouTube.
http://www.youtube.com/v/86dtpY9_FOw?hl=en_US&fs=1

Hmmm, it's like it's last generation. Video is bit pixelated. No high def options. Doesn't seem to load any faster either.

I don't see what's so great about it. :dunno:

Embedding a video with Flash (XHTML Strict):
Code:
<object
classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com
/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"
width="400" height="300" id="movie" align="">
<param name="movie" value="movie.swf">
<embed src="movie.swf" quality="high" width="400"
height="300" name="movie" align=""
type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
plug inspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">
</object>

Embedding a video with HTML5 (XHTML STRICT)
Code:
<video src="movie.mp4"></video>

NO CODEC IS NEEDED TO WATCH VIDEOS

Even a nimrod like Heist can write code now.

But I don't need to -- that's what I pay my EMPLOYEES TO KNOW and DO.

Sort of like you :rolleyes:

It's good to be the Boss. :dance:

Nigga please. Ol' Strictly Business mail boy retard. Who played that roll? Tommy Davidson? Yeah nigga, that's you.

Never saw the movie so I dunno what you mean - but if you feel like that, that's fine.

Still doesn't change the fact that you're an employee. It's Friday, shouldn't you be going to get your slave wage check now.

Vimeo joins YouTube in HTML5 move

Yesterday YouTube introduced an experimental version of an HTML5-supported player. HTML5 is the new web standard that adds many new features to your web browser, notably support for video and audio playback within the browser itself. Now Vimeo has launched its own HTML5 experiment.

This means that users with an HTML5 compatible browser (right now: Safari or Chrome), and support for the proper audio and video codecs can watch a video without needing to download a browser plugin. However, the HTML5 player only works on Vimeo.com right now, embed code (as above) remains Flash.

Vimeo’s Brad Dougherty explains: “We're rolling out a new beta test today: the HTML5 player!

“What's the HTML5 player, you ask? Simply put, it's an alternative to our current Flash player that looks and works almost exactly the same way. What are the benefits?

Noting that, “"Only" 90% of videos uploaded in the last year will work in the new player. All told, about 35% of all videos will still require the standard Flash player. In this case, Vimeo will automatically switch for you. It should just always work.”

* The player loads right away - no more spinning butterfly thingy
* You can jump anywhere in the video, without having to wait for it to buffer
* Smoother, less jumpy playback (we hope)

There are some drawbacks:

* It only works for about 25% of users running the latest versions of Safari, Chrome, or IE with Chrome Frame installed.
* It cannot go full screen. Unfortunately this is a limitation of the browsers right now. We are working on adding at least full-window support in the next day or so.

To enable the HTML5 player, click the "Switch to HTML5 player" link below any video on Vimeo.com.

What's going to happen to Adobe Flash?

flash will remain the big internet language anyway. flash isn't just used online its used in training for some companies and in schools.
what will eventually happen is there will be flash and html support on everything even the iphone (years from now and likely crippled badly or apple will use silverlight)
in mobile media nokia already supports flash with maemo and android will support it and it already supports html5.

but google is just making this useful to get more advertising.
