I can't stand live instruments.

I never said I hate Instruments, I said I hate LIVE Instruments... I would rather they play the Instrumental. Thats just me. I was never a fan of it.

I never liked that LL COOL J Unplugged shit either.

They should have put Black Thought on it Instead of Camron wack ass verse. I give the Roots band credit them nigga's got all the riffs and the notes on point... Best Band Around...

I can't stand live instruments.

really? you know music comes from live instruments, great music sounds best live
hip hop can't shy from live instruments because the samples actually come from live instruments

... and if you can't stand live instruments, what kind of music do you listen to?

The (c)rappers are weak, and do we really need a big ass band to play a simple generic loop that's heard in most (c)rap songs today?

i understand your point and this is a good challenge to both the band and the guest mc... actually it's kind of a "test" to measure the overall quality of the joint

also give credit to them because getting it right under i assume a few hours of rehearsal is not that easy

Exactly...Most of the samples hip hop uses came from artists that played "instruments" Mr J Storm

Thats like saying you like Oxygen through an oxygen tank instead of breathing normally

School him please. Talking about Instruments and Live Instruments? Makes no sense :smh:

I know what J is saying- lots of time in rap it's just better to hear the tracks-- I like the way the Roots do it though, cuz they make sure that the sounds of the original record are right, plus they don't embellish. When someone is rappin over the track, you don't need to be distracted by the jazzy ass licks that some musicians feel like they need to do. The Roots RESPECT the record they are playing, and Questlove STAYS in pocket.

Beat me too it. J is correct but the Roots are used to playing in the background of lyrics so their instruments sound clean rather than some bands behind rappers.

Unfortunately J is used to the "processed" sound of music rather than the "fresh" sound of live instruments. That "processed" sound is more of a music anomaly, but one that hip hop embraced and made its own (hince the term "dirty" drums from a beat machine producers use).

To each its own though.

Shout to The Clipse. 99% of hip hop sounds better with a live band to me.

And I said it before and I'll say it again. I don't care if you selling keys of dope, stock & bonds, or lumber at Home Depot. The music that Pusha T and Malice produce will make you want to be go the hardest at whatever it is you are doing.

:eek:Black Thought is still a monster

I understand what you are getting at here. You just do not like the non cleanliness of live music, and prefer the mastered studio track. Obviously you know that all music is played on an instrument, live of course, in order to be recorded.

I still don't see the point of that fuckin tuba though. He's the luckiest man alive to be gettin a check for what he does.
