hell yeah man..im glad they are going to send him off with a bowl win....they came to play in the second half..i can only imagine the half-time speech

FSU should of let him coached until he was ready to step down. I'll root for them todaay but afterwards I wont give a flying fuck about them.Nothing against the players but the administration should of went about this another way.

Glad he's going out a winner

15 years in the top four, that's more amazing than his victories.

I agree..it was probably time to make a change but they should have really worked out a way to allow him to walk away on his own terms....

Pretty easy to say that on the outside lookin in... but a large amount of money for college athletic budgets come from boosters. When coaches dont produce, boosters pull their money and they have no other way to fill that void. Boosters often also pay the coaches salaries so the start pulling their money and you have no choice but to make a change. They dont really give a shit what he did 15 years ago, all they see is the fact that schools like USF, UCF are popping up with recent success and stealing their recruits away. Add to that the fact that Florida has owned them as of lately and Miami is improving and the writing is on the wall.

I agree with Bobby being allowed to stay

But let's face it, the program would be dead if he were allowed to stay. Does anyone want to see them in the same state they were before he got there? Sometimes you have to know when to let go.

Yeah..it was time..I just wished something could have been worked out for him to leave on more dignified terms..not being pushed out.. but maybe behind closed doors he just wasnt having it...shit...i dont know... but he spent his entire adult life damn near building that program...

shit... there was a lot of talk about pushing Joe Paterno out a few years back and he has had a great last few years...just beat LSU today... eventually it is going to be time for him to step down too..but i hope it goes under his terms... but Joe Paterno may just be the first coach to die coaching on the film.. he may never step down

I know boosters control a lot of shit today but they could of at least told him next season would be his last season.

Joe - 394 wins

Bobby - 389 wins

thats alot of dam wins...11 n 12 game seasons...

how crazy is this...

"West Virginia head coach Bill Stewart—who was a 177-pound walk-on for Bowden’s first Mountaineers team in 1970."

full circle....

Props to him. I was hoping they'd send him out with a win. Great coach. I was born in 77 and he has been at FSU since before I was alive. I hope I am alive and kicking ass like he is doing when I get his age.

FSU Alum consensus says...So long Bobby. That redneck cracka hasn't won a big game in ten years and hasn't beaten Florida in at least five. This is at least 5 years late. And to all you black apologists who don't know or deny the early history of this confederate cracka can just shut the fuck up now.

... Heard about it... But I dont know any stories... Do tell!!!

FSU was stupid for letting that man go.

He just had a few bad seasons. Every program goes through a bad patch. Patterno did. Irish did. USC did.

It just happens... but to push that man out of his job, to do what - hire some lame who can't attract talent. That's just fucking DUMB.

Yea Floss enlighten us with this unkown history.

I hate when someone does that shit

Stupid

He's 80, how many more years do you think he has left?
It's pretty obvious looking at the squad football has passed him by, his best assistants went to head coaching jobs.

He was no longer getting top recruits and had surrendered a lot of the play calling already.

My favorite quote of his that I can think of right now is when they were trying to make him feel bad for letting peter warrik play the national title game and he was like if a guy murders somebody I have to let him go. If a kid gets a good discount I want to know how he did it! LOL classic!

No they shouldn't have. Florida is by far the biggest school in the state and Miami is back on the rise. Florida State can't afford to stay as the third best school in the state and the teams going in after Florida State recruiters, the first thing they will say is why would you go play for a coach that first of all doesn't even coach and may not be healthy enough to make it for your entire four years.

Bowden knew the bonus Jumbo had coming up so his time was going to end soon. He should have just left gracefully because he was gonna have to leave this year or next.

The difference between Bobby and Joe is Penn State is without question the top school in Pennsylvania and probably the Northeast so getting rid of Joe when he was going thru his problems wasn't going to happen.

Penn State plays a bunch of nobodies now to pad stats and loses to the only decent teams on their schedule. Notre Dame has sucked for about 15 years and USC rose from the ashes after they brought in a new coach.

Bobby didn't have a few bad seasons. He's had about 7-8 in the past 10 years. He had become a reason for recruits not to go to Florida State. You notice that when he announced his retirement, two 5* recruits and two 4* recruits committed to Florida State?

It was time for him to go. The school will be grateful to him for everything he has done, but it was time for him to let someone else take over.
