Well,

She is the mother to his son. He flat left her when Jean reappeared. I think Maddie found out he was not coming back when Cyclops was on TV promoting X-Factor.

Cold and fucked up...She was easily persuaded to join Syms and N'astash for some X-MEN beat down.

I can't figure out why they did that. They could have just sent him back to Sha'ir space if they didn't want him involved with the X-men any more.

I agree that Prof X has very little purpose now that the X-Men are no longer teenagers. But I say that he is too important to just kill off.

Maybe he should have rolled with the New Mutants or New X-Men as their mentor.

Yeah...they did that already though...He was even a team leader to a team of humans that fought crime on motorbikes...

What they should have done...that would have been the end game of his dream...Was have him live a regular non-super heroic life in a regular human community.

That would have been a better ending to his career.

I can imagine when shit gets bad - Some leaders or X-Men would visit him or call him for advice - He would listen but still remember to let them do their things.

Just like children go on with their lives but call/visit their parents from time to time.

They kind of did that with Magneto when he was powerless. He still had a hand full of followers.

But the way I think they are going is that Scott is realizing that Magneto may have been on the better path all along. Mutants need to stop trying to be accepted by humans and build their own communities and protect their own.

But just imagine that MLK and Malcom X were still around and they were just playing the background to Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton. That's the way I see it. Especially with Magneto.

I agree with the kid/parent/grandparent theory. That's why i don't agree with killing him off.

Magneto's original goal (and I believe still is) is to subjugate humanity and have mutants on top.

Genosha was his new plan since he was tired of having to deal with humans and super human threats.

Now if he had firepower on the Pheonix/X-Man level...I doubt he would have been down with the just Genosha plan.

That's why I can not fuck with the big 2 anymore. If you are going to write stories with grit, violence and conflict with no finality then I will not read that nonsense.

I remember this being the last X-Men issue I purchased before giving up on comics in the 1980s for video games. I think X-Men vs Avengers was going on around the same time.

But wasn't that a retcon after the fact? Or did they plan to have some type of lasting effect from the crossover so that it had more meaning.

There was no retcon at this time.

Scarlet Witch learned/tapped a new form of magic while in the DCU.

She then went wiggy and tried to bring back her sons that died (or never existed) during a battle with Immortus in a way back Avengers storyline that I forget the name of. This leads to Avengers: Disassembled which then leads into House of M.

During the return from House of M stories were retconned.

Both Marvel and DC said that some thing from the crossover was going to be long lasting.

I don't know what the DC thing was though.

Edited - Never mind just read - Scarlet Witch got a power boost and JLA kept the 'Cosmic Egg'
