Buju Banton faces drug conspiracy charges‎

"rastas" do sell coke, as well as other things. now whether they meet to your standards as to being a "true" rasta, im sure they would tell you that they are. but make no mistake, people who call themselves rasta, do in fact partake in illegality. No one is exempt from practicing unrighteous behavior..rastas included. selling weed in mass is no different.

People who call themselves catholic priest engage in pedophilia.

Does that implicate the religion?

Although this I agree with: "No one is exempt from practicing unrighteous behavior..rastas included."

That said, this article and those charges are pure fuckery.

and I agree, this article will turn out to proven wrong, but that isnt on the basis that he is rasta..it is because I believe the man is one of the premiere artists and he knows he probably has alot to loose. but to advance a position that rastas dont sell drugs, is false. as for the catholics, in a way it does implicate the religon because it forces one to quell their sexual and intimate desires, in order to be closer to God. If anyone thinks I am implicating a whole culture, needs to read what i have written again. I preface everything I have said with "some rastas".

Never used the word "drugs"

I said coke.

Weed is a plant but now it is an illegal plant?

They need to take that up with the Creator.

:lol:I hear you..I wasn't really even speaking on coke, but crack. I wont get into it too much but, that is what I have seen. sadly, if these Caucasians cant make money off it or control it, they will ban it or consider it illegal and this is the problem with weed. but lets be clear, all of the above are considered drugs in this country, and in many parts of the world. before these people take that up with the creator, I think he will have some other things on his mind that he would like to take up with them..namely, the chattel slave trade, and the idea of white supremacy:yes: and I suspect that he will decree that someone will have to pay for the murder of patrice lumumba:angry: but I am digressing...

I'd be very disappointed if infact
buju was dealing in coke..
that goes against rasta man teachings..

my guess is
he's guilty by association..
someone he knows
maybe a promoter, was dealing and buju got caught up in it..
maybe an informant gave the feds bullshit information saying buju was involved when he wasn't
that shit happens all the time...
buju is a rasta not just a dread..

just cause you dread don't make you rasta...

we don't deal up in coke and crack too much in the Caribbean.

Weed, yes.

So to say that Buju is trafficking coke?

That's a stretch cause culturally we are not coke and crack users.

But I hear you.

I thinkk that this album of his is some of his best work and I think he needs to stick to touring the caribbean and Africa, Germany, japan, france etc.....

Fuck england & Amerikka

That sounds more feasible than him actually being involved. :smh: @ people who can't let go of something that was done damn near 20yrs ago. Dude hasn't made any songs of similar content since but is still being persecuted for it. Some people only see what they want to see.

peace
I am not so sure that he was setup by the gay mafia. I would think that the people with an orchestrated agenda against reggae music would want Buju to keep touring so that they can use him to highlight their "struggle". When Buju met with Gay reps in San Fran a couple of months ago, their demands were so outlandish that you can tell they weren't serious about any compromise. They wanted Buju to hold town hall meetings in Kingston telling people to love gays.
He may just have been setup by the same old "mafia" that's been targeting conscious black people with a following for centuries.
Bless!
The real mafia & not that fake shit;
Hope Him people nah getting him fuck up like Jadakiss' folk

not to get involved in ya'll beef but just because a cat got dreadlocks ... it does not mean he is a Rasta. anybody with knowledge of Jamaica... and common sense above all.... will and can tell you that criminals use the dreadlocks and Rasta image as a front. carry on

Edit*

I'm all late... yall pass all that.:dance:

Basically they put word out "What can we get on so-and-so" sooner or later they have something they can get you on even if it is hearsay:smh:
Obama better pardon him

chetongueek
c/s if he is convicted

Yeah it's s setup he knows a lot of big time drug dealers and they
are his acquaintances and friends...not hard to slap a conspiracy charge
on someone who kicks it with a big time dealer.

Conspiracy = Vague case at most possible deportation:hmm:

Intent to Distribute or Trafficking = Strong case probably Federal jail time.

just my opinion:cool:

That may be the case, either way the fags are doing back flips right now.

Dude would really have to be stupid to get caught carrying that shyt.
because i would believe he has little reason to do so.

however i know for a fact quite a few of these so called righteous rastas be messing with coke.

hope things work out for him.

I am a Buju fan and would like for this story to be total bullshit, but, hey, you never know. Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, Ninjaman, Tenor Saw, just a few artists known for their cocaine habits.

You must not have been to the Caribbean for a while. Jamaica is a hot spot for drug distribution, with cocaine being a huge moneymaker. It's a popular hub for distributing drugs to North America and Europe, and because of Jamaica's under-funded drug eradication program, it's become a persistent issue within Jamaican society, contributing to the escalating crime rate in the country, especially among inner city residents.

Police: Buju Banton negotiated US cocaine deal

AP

Monday, December 14, 2009

MIAMI, United States — Federal authorities say Jamaican reggae star Buju Banton attempted to buy cocaine from an undercover officer in Florida.

Banton, whose real name is Mark Anthony Myrie, has been in US federal custody in Miami since Thursday. He faces a charge of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than five kilogrammes of cocaine.

According to court documents, Banton and two others contacted a police informant last week about buying cocaine in Sarasota. Drug Enforcement Administration agents say Banton negotiated the purchase and was observed inspecting cocaine offered by the undercover officer.

The other men were arrested Thursday when they allegedly attempted to buy the drugs.

An e-mail to Banton's independent record label was not immediately returned Monday.
