:lol Let me admit something, as a looongg time atlanta sports fans, im about as fickle as a fan can be about all atlanta sports team. i mean, we have ONE pro championship in 40 years of atlanta sports. sooo, got that out of the way. the subject: the CURRENT atlanta hawks. i have watched this team since hubie brown coached them in the late 1970s. the hawks, TRADITIONALLY before they traded nique away, always had a good team, but never could get out of the second round of the playoffs. not hubie brown, mike fratello, lenny wilkins, none of those coaches could get them to even the eastern conference championship.

the current bunch, i SEE SOMETHING. i see a team that can sneak into the eastern conference title game against orlando. boston, they just dismantled boston , in boston. boston is too old, cleveland, nah, the hawks bench is better than the cavaliers starters. laugh all you want. the hawks, finally, have a sense of what to do on both ends of the court with all that talent they have. they go TEN deep on this roster. what i have seen is josh smith finally grow up and he is beasting the paint. THAT was the first key. next key, they got a SCORER who can rest BOTH bibby and johnson: jamal crawford. crawford looked like kobe and jordan last night against the celtics. just played with them, and crawford comes off the bench and was killing their starters. crawford not only allows the hawks other guards to rest, he allows them to play possibly the best small lineup in the nba: bibby at the point, crawford at 2 and johnson at the 3, with smith and horford up front. speaking of horford, he, along with pachulia and another big key, joe smith, allow the hawks to finally have a rotation up front that is legit. now, they can get into foul trouble with howard and garnett and dont have to worry. i see the hawks sneaking into the title game againt orlando. woodson surprised me, their coach. ninja actually showing imagination with this group on offense and got them playing defense. they are legit, finally.

The Hawks match up well against the Celts. Just like the Magic last year had the Cavs number. Now that we have bigger perimeter players and somebody to lay on Howard that is no more. The Hawks aren't going to beat the Magic or the Cavs in a 7 game series. The Celtics, well if the Celtics beat the Magic or the Cavs for you your prediction could very well be true.

The east is paper, rocks, scizzors.

2nd worst draft day move this decade was the Hawks not picking Chris Paul in the draft. Just imagine him with Josh Smith.

I'm a long time fan also. I'm very impressed with the current bunch also. Even Woodson seems to do a little better coaching. Season still early so I'm waiting to give my evaluation. I still think we need to pull off a block buster deal to get Amare on this squad without losing Horford or Josh Smith to put us in the NBA finals.

I'm sort of glad we didn't get Chris Paul. I would love to have him on our team, but I'm glad to see a city like New Orleans got him. They needed a superstar down there bad.

man the regular season DONT MEANS HIT. the hawks, the suns, these kind of teams will just build you up to let you down in a 7 game series.

For some reason the Celtics always seem to bring out the beast in the Hawks. I have to wonder what Doc Rivers was thinking when he put Eddie House & Ray Allen to D up on Jamal Crawford though. Crawford crossed people over on the regular basis & neither of them play any good D. They would've been better off putting Daniels or Rondo on him.

Y'all laughin but I think we gotta good chance of goin in under the radar if we stay healthy.....Did y'all see the game last night against Boston? Bump this thread mid-season and playoff time.....Hawks looking good! Don't sleep!

crawford was a god pickup (too bad he wasn't good enough to play for don nelson )....he adds the type of slasher they need to compete with the celtics. i could even see them giving cleveland problems.

that said, they cannot beat the magic.

I think they present trouble for the Magic too. Horford is no pushover on the low block so he might be able to contain Howard with help from Smith on the weak side. D Howard is like David Robinson in that he relies on his athleticism to score so if you beat him to the spot then he has no backup or goto move. The Hawks are athletic enough in the front court to possibly do that. Adding Crawford, with his slashing, opens up the perimeter for Johnson, Bibby & Williams too. If Howard isn't commanding a double-team then the only person on the Magic who can create his own shot is Carter & sometimes Nelson(he has no jumper so if you force him to shoot then you should be straight)

What true fan of a team says anything like that? I sure Patriot fans are exstatic Drew Bledsoe got hurt. Rams fans a happy that Trent Green got hurt.

The Hornets organization doesn't care about the their team so if Chris Paul doesn't leave when he's a free agent then he's going to be playing for a mediocre team the rest of his career. They lucked up two years ago with multiple players having career years that year. The Hornets first priority is saving money, not winning.

It ain't about being a true fan. It's about the love of my people. Some things are bigger than sports. You are a fan, but I'm looking from a perspective of life. I'm willing to take a loss for some people to win. I've come to a point in my life where if my team win or lose, it won't affect my feelings or attitude. It is what it is.
