Could Lebron be seriously considering MIAMI?

I mentioned this in a thread about a year ago. Why would someone thats championship hungry place themselves in a Knickerbokker uniform? Thats just senseless. Why not place yourself in a more ideal situation.

Miami
-Top 5 Market in the NBA.
-Missing just one peice for another championship. (Knicks missing it all.)
-Great staff and admin
-Who wouldnt want to be in Miami
-Pat Riley

2010 Starting Roster

Chalmers
Wade
Lebron
Beasly
O'neal

Other than him staying in Clevland, there is no other favorable positions where he can leave and take a step towards a couple of championships.

And, Miami will have the cap space to sign him... he has already said that being able to compete for championships is more important to him than a max contract.

Not that any one believes he would be willing to leave a ton of money on the table, but the big question is would he be willing to give up a few dollars for a chance to join or help create a perennial championship contender.

It's gonna be interesting to see how this plays out

:roflmao2::roflmao2::roflmao2:
what a load of bullshit. If that was the case he would extend with Cleveland and all them to continue to try to build a team around him.

No, he needs to win championships for his endorsements. If he puts together a multi-championship run like Jordan his endorsement earning will be far greater than what he can make in hoop salary.

Anyway if we're going that route why not Chicago? Add him to THAT team and :itsawrap:

Dude you been watching too much ESPN!

You do know that Wade is up for free agency too right? Wade said on ESPN that they might team up but he didn't say in Miami.

You could put Wade and Lebron on the fucking Grizzlies and they'd be a top teir team automatically. :dunno:

He don't need Miami if Wade is going where he is. Doubt that happens though.

so your theory is if they are going to team up, lebron and wade would choose to live the next 5 years in memphis and not miami?

It has to suck being a Cleveland Cavs fan. Seeing a homegrown Ohio talent leave would devastate that city.

Lebron's should go to LA or Boston if the most important thing is a championship. Take a paycut for a year and see what happens. He's not winning in Clevland, they won't be able to get past Boston and possibly not Orlando.

He should link up with a couple of free agents and they should all go to the same team. He's not going to be the highest paid player in the league and the Cavs can offer him the most money so money isn't the motivation.

You can put them on the Grizzles and have a top team. You can even put em both on the Knicks and prolly get a good run. But you have to look the whole picture when deciding on the move.

Organization- Theres reasons why that organization have been losing for so long and it aint the players.

Chemisrty w/ each other and teamates-- Ego's

Market- If you gonna take a pay cut to win a championship, you better place yourself in a market that can take you global so you can maximise your endorsments. Not many other teams are recognized around the globe.

Money- Most of the players on Miami's Roster are on their contract year.

Scenario 1

Extend with Cleveland, and HOPE that improvement comes from within... In their efforts to appease Lebron, they have taken a "go for it all now kind of approach", and really haven't left themselves with a lot of financial flexibility with regards to next years free agency crop... I guess an almost 40 yr old Shaq COULD learn a new trick or two, and perhaps Delonte West might get on some new meds and get his issues under control...

Scenario 2

Sign with Miami, team with D-Wade, and form an almost unstoppable duo and kick it in South Beach for the next 10 years or so...

As has been pointed out, of course Wade is a free agent too, and in theory, the two of them could hook up someplace else, but the question then becomes... WHERE else makes any sense? I think it might be a mistake to discount the lure of that whole South Beach scene too.

I dunno, but I think Lebron is at the very least going to go down to Miami to have a conversation with Pat Riley.

;)

Why go to Miami and play in front of nobody? I say go to the Clippers.

The capacity for American Airlines Areana is 19,600. In 2006 when Miami won the championship, they AVERAGED 19,954 in attendance...

The bottom line is people will pay to go see a championship caliber team... which is what they would have with Lebron in the fold.

there was nobody at the game the other night and Dwade is ballin!!

new official rule in the nba you get three steps now. The crab dribble rule.

- not only that, but the refs have been cheating for his lame ass..

http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/smith2_090406.html

"....James is averaging 1.72 fouls per game in an average of 37.9 minutes per game. James hasn't even been in foul trouble one game this season. He never has had more than four fouls called on him in a game, and since March 1 is being called for fewer than 1.3 fouls per game...."

"It's impossible," said one team executive.

"Jordan averaged fewer than two fouls per game only in his last two seasons when he was not as active as a defender, and never as few as James' current 1.72. Among some of the great perimeter players in history, at a time when substantially more perimeter contact was allowed, Larry Bird averaged about 2.5 fouls, Magic Johnson 2.26 and Jerry West and Oscar Robertson well above two per game.

In the game now, Kobe Bryant has a career average of about 2.7 fouls per game and is about 2.3 this season. Dwyane Wade has a career average of 2.67 and is about 2.2 this season.

The all-time star with the fewest personal fouls was Wilt Chamberlain, who never fouled out of a game in his 14-year career. It was a point of pride with Wilt, who averaged 1.99 fouls per game in his career, barely below where James is now."

What everybody in this thread needs to remember is that due to cap space the only team that can give both Wade and Lebron the most money is Miami because Wade is already in Miami. They both can't leave their respective teams and go to another team unless both of them were willing to except a considerable amount of less money and I don't see that.

First off, let me say I'm not a big Lebron James fan. With that being said, if he leaves Cleveland to Batman & Robin up with someone like Wade, Bosh, etc....no matter what he does, the so-called King could never mentioned in the same vein as MJ. No patience, No Challenge or feeling like he can do it on his own. Thats pussy shit to me. MJ was drafted, later came Pippen and all the others to build around him. He took his lumps and stuck wit it and learned to overcome the Cleveland's, Detroit's, Celtic's, Lakers', etc of his day. That's was a legacy is all about. MJ never pussied out to allow others to make him, he had something to prove! And he did and that's why he's the GREATEST!!!

One could argue that Shaq made it possible for Kobe to have those 4 rings. Likewise for Shaq. Kobe has one without him which I doubt he woulda had if Boston was at full strength. He has good time left to prove he can win more rings with a squad built around him alone.

The one thing I hate about todays game is the $$$$. $$$ fucked up the leaugue and its integrity by allowing shortcuts to the promiseland. No longer is all about hard work and sacrifice. Its just a financed chess game now....

That being said, GO BLAZERS!! Young team and good coach(Nate McMillan-slept on), built from the ground up and Brandon Roy is dat nigga!!!

The only reason I can't see Lebron going to Miami is because Wade is already there. It's been Wade's team since his second season in the NBA. Lebron would automatically be the number 1 guy there.

It's a silly reason, but still a possibility.

so your theory is if they are going to team up, lebron and wade would choose to live the next 5 years in memphis and not miami?

No.

I'm saying that any team they choose to go to TOGETHER is gauranteed to make a run at the championship. Period. I just said Memphis cause they are one of the worst but even if they went to Memphis they would make them instant playoff material together.

i'm gonna say this and leave it alone. No matter what Lebron does, he'll NEVER pass MJ. MJ fans are MJ fans. PERIOD. They don't want no one to come close. He'll have to win 7 titles STRAIGHT to even start to be considered to be past MJ. If he doesn't they'll say well MJ won 6 in a row if you think about it. Or they will say MJ never lost in the finals. The bottom line is they will find SOMETHING to knock him down some pegs.

Jordan has been put on another tier waaaaaaaay above everyone. Sorry Lebron, sorry Kobe, sorry Wade - no one will be able to pass Jordan or get really close until the people who pray at Jordan's feet are too old to matter anymore. So give it about 20, 30 more years.

Oh yeah, you talk about this full strength thing with Boston in 2008. But don't forget LA was without 2/5th of their starting lineup the year they lost to Boston. And 1 of those guys was a HEAVY contributor for the title run. Hopefully this year puts it all to rest.

Ok, well that's not where I was trying to make my point at. That's my fault, I shoulda just kept it simple and said that Lebron can/could/will be one of the greats. He just shouldn't be looked at as one of the greatest to ever play (top tier), should he leave in hope of finding others to help pave his legacy.

LeBron can't go to a team where a megastar is already there. Fans nearly always love the homegrown talent more than the one that is brought in. The problem with waiting around for talent is today's NBA is that in some instances that second star never comes. Outside of getting lucky in a down year and getting a franchise guy (like the Spurs did with Duncan), you are stuck in a situation where most of the time the talent around you isn't good enough to get you over the hump.

New Jersey/Brooklyn

Salary cap next year will only be $26 million and the NBA salary cap will probably be $52 Million so the Net will have $26 available to sign the both of them.

pg Devin Harris-young, big pg. Already an all-star.
sg Wade
sf Lebron
pf Yi Jianlian
c Brook Lopez-good young center avg 18ppg, 8rpg

Bench
Courtney Lee
Chris Douglas-Roberts

Great young starting 5 for the next for the next 7-8 years. Lebron can even try to get Chris Bosh or Amare to sign with him instead of Wade.

I think this is the best team already setup for two of the top free agents in 2010 to go to.

If the Nets finally move to Brooklyn it will rejuvenate interest of basketball in New York and the Knicks will still be bad so I think they will be able to take a lot of interest from them.
