well it's not hard to believe, but lets keep the true context. if i make 1000 per week and give 10%, i'm giving 100 bucks. if i make 100,000 per week and give 5% i'm giving 5000. the 5000 still feeds more families than the 100 so this report is foolish.

I agree with the article. The most immediate help to meet your immediate need will likely be from another poor person. Rich help the rich get richer, poor will help the poor be poor. Whether it's borrowing sugar from your neighbor or passing along vital information about financial assistance programs.
The rich are most concern with staying rich, they have tremendous spending habits and just want to maintain their rich lifestyle, they chip off a few corners when they can.
