Is it normal to have NO sexual desire after giving birth?

Since my wife gave birth, she has had no sex drive......none, nada. I was thinking it was just her hormones being sporadic so I gave her time to see if it would get better, it didn't. She went to the doctor and they have her some birth control because they said it would help stabilize her hormones. She has been taking them for 3 months and no change.

I'm at a loss because she gave birth in December of last year and she has been having this issue. I don't know what the hell else to do. I've tried everything. The only thing that seemed to get her slighty aroused was a slooooooow build up of foreplay and stimulation and that took 2 hours. With an infant, we just don't have that kind of time consistently.

Is that normal? Is there anything I can do because I'm starting to get frustrated. Im not the type of guy to go and get a side piece but something has got to give. I thought it was her hormones, stress from her job and just stress from being a new mom but does that last this long?

You didn't say whether she is also a working mom. If she is working outside the home and has a brand new baby..sheeesh time is definitely at a premium..and sleep may sound better to her than sex right now..

Also encourage to make sure she gets some sunlight daily. May sound funny but vitamin D deficiencies are common with new moms..particularly women of color.

Watchin and OF gave good advice here. It's possible she may be suffering from mild depression. Also, change in body image happens to a lot of women post-birth. Has she made disparaging remarks about her looks/body? She may feel inhibited due to these changes. Is she anemic? Is she on the right bc for her?Sometimes birth control pills can have an adverse effect on libido (yeah, ironic isn't it?).Some of these things she should discuss with her doctor. Keep the lines of communication open. This is a big transition for you both.
