The campus Queen is supposed to represent the school. How do you represent something you aren't really a part of? It's more than displaying a talent and answering a few questions during a pageant. It's more than paying tuition
During a campus tour what are you going to talk about to the prospective students, your experience driving through the tunnel
I would say this about a black student who did the same thing. She's not the first white Queen at a HBCU. Morehouse had a white valedictorian. White people join frats and sorors.

Such as Hampton...with the current cutbacks that many other HBCUs have had to make, Hampton, although enrolling a smaller Freshmen class this year, has not had to eliminate any positions or "downsize" departments...
President Harvey is a pretty smart guy...Hampton U. is the owner of a local mini mall near the campus, and owns a apartment complex across from the University. Also, since the University houses several conferences over the summer on campus, and throws an annual jazz festival in the summertime in the Hampton Roads area, our revenue flow is doing pretty damn good

Well, that's why a lot of people select HBCU's. So they won't have 200 people in their classes. Where the professors know the students name and they have personal interaction.
I didn't want to go to a school where I might see a hot chick on campus, and not see her again for another two years.

She's a student, so we can't say, "No, you can't compete/take part in university events." If that was the case, people should have "hated" all the other non-black persons that attended Hampton, and the community, when I was there, was never like that

Jo... I know Hampton is a "Historically" Black College... but does that mean that only black students should enroll? I agree with moblack... being a little more diverse can only help HBCUs. I think the fact that non-black students want to not only go to HBCUs, but to also participate in extracurricular activities, speaks to how far the institutions have come. I look at as a positive.

But on the real, i went to a Catholic High School, 80% White... and the First Year a Black Girl Won Homecoming Queen (a Haitian Black Girl) was the Last year they had Homecoming King and Queens saying It sends the wrong message.
