im not sure what the issue is. do the clips play with sound on your pc?

Yes, they do play with sound on the pc. I use VLC player and have no problems. I was thinking of buying a fiber optic cable from best buy today and hooking up my WDTV to my stereo. Who knows, maybe it will make a difference.

Just got mine today (along with a transmitter for my car/MP3.) Worked just fine on one TV having trouble on my hitachi projection TV. I'm using the rc cable but Im not getting any signal on the Onkyo tuner (sound went out on the Hitachi so I have to run the a/v thru the reciever 1st and than to TV. I pluged it in the same spot that the DVD player is in as well as where the X-box goes .

I still need to buy one of these muthafuckin' joints. I just wish prices were cheaper in Canada. We get ripped off on EVERYTHING here north of the damn border.

I got the WD and the MediaGate Media player both are pretty good!! the WD is quieter but doesn't play wmv files the MediaGate is louder but plays wmv9 files!!The only thing i can complain about the MediaGate is that there is no continuous play option it will only play whats in a folder! But besides that both are worth the money!!

nope, doubt we will see any. WDHD II is set to release in the future. All the focus is on that.

Finally thinking about gettin the wd media player but I wanna know: When you click on a folder with multiple videos does it play all the videos in folder or you have to create folders for each video?

that looks dope.

My only problem is that they dont have any big box electronics stores in my country that carry these things so I could test and see if I like.

100-130 bucks seems to be the sweet spot for these devices.

Ideally under 120.

why you ninjas say Full MKV support I got over 300 MKV movies & they all play fine

yo i glad you havent had a problem but the wd hd tv doesnt play every single mkv file.
it also has dts support, ethernet and plays rmvb rm,and flv.

the new wd hdtv live will have this but will probably cost around 130-140 and it aint even officially out yet.
only downside it the ass ugly interface

what kind of mkv dont it play?

question: so this wd media drive is basically a STREAMER right? you still never a seperate external drive to plug into it? or can you install a drive into it?

Right now i have (had it for a minute) Media Mate HDD Media Player
it has a 1TB hard drive in it. (switch can be swapped out) I just hook the HDMI to it and watch all my movies on tv. the only thing is it dont play .MKV FILES and it only goes to 1080i...

So if this WD Media Player lets you put ya own hard drive inside then i might fuck with it other wise theres no point cus I have ps3 to stream movies.

My device looks like this:

it plays ISO, AVI, MPEG1,3,4 alla that and the 1TB is inside of it.. so in order to use the WD Media Player i would have to hook up me current "media player" into the WD media player correct? since you cant take the 1tb out and put it INSIDE wd media player..

am i correct about this?

but seriously, can wd media player play .ISO files? cus most of my movies are like that...

im feeling the wd media cus on the 1080p feature and the .MKV playback i wouldn't have to convert anymore...

only thing is i gotta take my 1tb and make it external.
