The first one is a drug dealing sissy and the second one is an ex con who cut a few people's hearts out and gets his head popped off. :smh:

Stop thinking so hard.

Would it make you feel better if the gay character was white and there was one less black on the show.

Eggs cut peoples hearts out after being "hypnotized" and showed regret and remorse for it so I don't see how thats a negative character.

What positive characters are there on that show?

The only halfway normal cat is Sam, everyone else is whacked.

If a black chick was playing Mary ann, someone would complain.

Jason Stackhouse? Someone would complain.

The dumb detective Bellefleur, could you imagine the complaints

Two black actors are working and getting decent exposure from a highly popular TV show playing challenging characters which could lead them to more work, fuck all the rest.

Point taken, but the sissy could easily be typecasted.

I already knew Eggs was not going to last.
and what the fuck is up with the name "Eggs"

Now the Tara character could get that chick typecast.

I doubt it. Rutina Wesley is a well-trained stage actress (graduated from the esteemed Juilliard just a few years back) and is about as far from that Southern Gothic character in real life as possible. She could play anything (and she has).

the writers couldnt figure out what to do with eggs, so they prolly add that scene to kill time

i think the series is better at representing blacks than the books, in the books tara is white and lafayette is hardly mentioned plus killed quickly, eggs barely is mentioned as well but i can't even remember if he's black in the books

Theres something wrong with everybody in that show except Sookie.
Bill------------- Used to kill people for fun and hunger
Tara--------------Bitter and resentful
Sam--------------- In the closet about his life
Andy--------------- Alcoholic
Jason-------------- dumb as shit and killed eggs
eggs---------------- dark past and instrument of mary ann
holt--------------- mamma's boy
eric---------------- cynical and sinister
lafeyette-------------- prostitute and drug dealer
rita mae-------------- reform alcoholic and negligent parent
jessica----------------- blood thirsty and has uncontrollable urges
All those who play a signicant role to the main story line there is something wrong with them except sookie.

and if you wanted to take things a step further you could include sookie into that group now since she confused as to who she is.
the story is based on fucked up people in a fucked up town. thats what make the show so goooooooood. real people with real problems.

The original poster has a good point. When I watched the last show last night I thought to myself "Damn, why did they have to off Eggs like that". The Black man that survives on the show is gay and feminine acting.

Historically in TV and movies in this country the straight strong Black man character doesn't last long and gets killed. The Black man has to wear womens clothes and act feminine to be accepted and not seen as a threat. I like the show and the Lafayette character. It could be a coincidence but I saw the thread of historical racism when
Eggs took a bullet in the head.

I love the show though, and look forward to next season.

You do know that had they stuck to the books that Lafayette and Eggs would've both been white, right? And the Lafayette character is one of the most popular characters on the show...which is the only reason he wasn't killed in Season 1 like he was in the books. Fan response saved his gay ass from being killed off. Dude who plays him was also a character on The Inside and The Soloist.
