A few weeks ago, the UK Sun ran an article saying Jackson had signed on for the part made famous in the 1980s by Mr. T. But the reports were dismissed by Jackson's reps and D.I.S.H. was told by the UFC that it was 'just a rumour.'
Now the Sun says the former world light heavyweight champ is in Vancouver to star as Baracus. The Sun also says that Jackson has been removed from the UFC 107 card, where he was set to face Sugar Rashad Evans in an Ultimate Fighter finale showdown, so he can appear in the film. Jackson will reportedly be shooting in Vancouver for the next six weeks.
The original A-Team was comprised of four Vietnam vets turned soldiers of fortune, on the run for a crime they didn't commit. In the feature film, due for release in June 2010, the team will be Iraq veterans.
The project has been in development since the 1990s and has been put on hold several times. Liam Neeson is reportedly in talks to play Hannibal Smith and Bradley Cooper has said he has been cast as Templeton Peck. Others whose names have been connected to the B.A. Baracus role are rappers Common and The Game."
