I don't think anyone truly concerned with the future of SOL should not take on nihilistic attitudes about it. SOL really was an entertaining forum/chat/etc. that branched out in many different directions.

I think hnic could have modded or administrated sol/bgol better than what it was.
He had the right idea, good timing, and good intentions he just didn't execute it properly.
He let the main board run wild with bashing sol and it's posters of both genders
I think he could have saved it by saying that no post about sol was allowed on the main board.
In my personal experience. It seems that women and especially black women don't seem too interested in posting on forums especially sex forums (with the exception being Nude Africa) unless it's about the church, hair, and their children.
I don't know what happened but i feel like hnic drop the ball on this one.
He had a very rare audience of black women, that posted on a porn board and was just like the male posters in that they had multiple interest and was completely comfortable with their sexuality.
If sol would have had better protection. it would sti be alive and kickin' and we'd have many more women posting.

Pogo I hear you, but in the beginning SOL WAS WORKING in large part due to a more chill and respectful rapport that existed between the male and female posters on this side. Men far outweigh the number of women so some male support was necessary. The male posters that used to post here predominately just wanted to joke, converse, and see some candid titty and ass shots once in a while and that was cool!
The negative attention to posting pictures (spurred imo by that QUAID incident), the male and female bashing and the demise of the xat because of a snitchin' main board member were huge blows to SOL.
There are some serious boundary issues. Posting pm and pics someone sent you in private, bringing beef from the chat or the main board into threads, letting some shit that didn't even start on the board become an invitation to troll and call everybody 3 types of fat whore on SOL is ridiculous. Shit gets real tired, especially when visiting here is supposed to be about entertainment!

To bring it back that rapport I mentioned will have to be re-built. Cleo gave some great suggestions to start.
Many bonds were formed because of that.
Due to those bonds, SOL will always have a core - a group of people that can "spark" another more robust "SOL". But, when a family, or a group of people bonded by some tie they deem worthy of attention and dedication, goes through some type of hardship, then it is at that time that each individual has to bring something to the table. Even if it is just "going through the motions", you can inadvertently impress another poster to do the same, and spark a movement.
If we are a group of individuals who are in agreement that SOL needs more life, and we are in agreement that we all would like to see more activity on this side, then I think we all know how to make an interesting thread.
There are no "weak" posters on this side.

People who want to be mods but wont ever be to stop w/ the bullshit low key snitching but play hard as hell on the board
For the women on this side to stand together and respect what was originally made for them/us
For people who dont know what the fuck goes on behind the scenes to really shut the fuck up because they make themselves look stupid because they dont know what they are talking about

OWL thinks the underlying sentiment of all-inclusive could be beneficial, if there were not a culture of active admin(think:mod) posting. I want to see sistasonline.com be succesful too but the base audeince is here. If we can get them mobilized, more active, then we can segue those members into that site. for what will hopefuilly be a wider, fresher, more private experience. But the rare audience of women that are not afraid to be a lil risque but are intelligent enough and diverse enough in their personal lives with enough interest and hobbies and general knowledge to carry a thread and it not be so reliant on the male posters, is here.

Seriously though, you want answers, you have a list sticky'd at the top of the page with about 200 female posters names, 75% of which never posted anything here, why don't you send them PMs and ask for suggestions. Ask them why they don't post and what changes could/should be made to enable them to do so.

I wish we all could of ignored the bipolar aspect of SOL. I think that had a lot to do with how people perceived this place. I'm slowly coming around to the fact that many on this forum have personal issues they have yet to deal with. This is why the main board have a big ass issue with this forum. Like you, I actually prefer talking to, and interacting with women moreso than men a=on a social level which is pretty much the normal way of things which is why I used to spend more time on SOL back in the day.
The Lions Den threads where the highlights for me and I just enjoyed the general vibe of goodwill that used to obtain on SOL.
I guess the only thing that can bring this forum back on track would be more maturity exhibited by posters and Mods alike and an increase in respect amongst posters.
