The partisan garbage is what keeps America from moving forward, and if its not politics its racial bullshit.

A house divided cannot stand.

At this present time, The Pres controls the House & the Senate. He can pass whatever he wants. If there is a problem, it is within the Dem Party, period.

Demint can pop off at the mouth all he wants but at the end of the day, he has no clout, easy as that.

IMO, the american people don't trust the Health-care bill because it's 1000 pages, written by special interests, as we all know, Congress don't even read the damn Bills. (See John Conyers) How can you trust these people?

Not to be partisan, but if you look back in history, the soviet union had a very efficient government.

Of course, I'm going to be accused of saying Obama is a communist, and I'm a right wing, neo conservative wingnut blah blah blah.....

Typical...."objective" forum talk...

very efficient? thats not the issue, the issue is that workers had no purchasing power, hence, they were all 'broke'. Everyone worked for the govt, they had no private sector! All services came from the govt.

Which direction we are heading?

So was the Bush regime. They took FEMA from being among the best run and successful government agencies to and absolute disaster.

Which direction we are heading?

Your rhetoric should use the example of health care that every other successful western country uses.

Which direction are we in?

ok!?! you know you didn't make any sense just then right?

Efficient means speedy, accurate, and running a well organize system.

It's impossible for Bush to have an efficiently ran government because that wasn't his style in the beginning. Since you are stuck in 2005, and you hate Bush that much, Bush thought that people had the will to take care themselves. Thus, why he did not take that much interest of making Fema this super government project. You have to remember what state Bush is from. Texas is self-reliant, strong, small government type state. If we are asking for assistance from the government, something worst than Katrina had to hit us. So, if you put that into account, Bush did the natural thing.

Not to mention, BUSH WARNED NEW ORLEANS ABOUT THE HURRICANE. People tend to forget that. Especially bitch ass dudes like yourself, who needs to find something to harp on about Bush. I mean seriously, how was New Orleans before Katrina? Was it some kind of utopia we didn't know about? To be honest, Katrina was a blessing to many because now they got better opportunity to do better outside of conditions that limited them *ie liberal high tax, low education, easy government assistance, crime infested shit hole better known as the "big easy"*.

BTW, I see that you are using the talking points about Katrina's anniversary. I like to see that you are on schedule. Next week, health care because of the death of Kennedy is next, right?

I didn't come here to discuss Bush or Katrina but some lies just can't be let go.

Texas receives more money in federal assistance than they pay in federal taxes so the idea of their self-reliance is a myth.
"Bush warned New Orleans"? Ok. But did he send the aid that New Orleans and the rest of the Gulf Coast needed in a timely fashion? Did he check with the local and state gov't to see how the fed could aid in evacuation? That's where the criticism rightfully is.

Back on topic
The Democrats run the White House and the Congress so it's their own ineptitude and cowardice that keeps Obama from not already having health care reform. The pro reform activists were slow in rallying compared to those trying to maintain the status quo. The same way Obama's people organized in his election campaign, they should have done so for health care.

Not to mention, BUSH WARNED NEW ORLEANS ABOUT THE HURRICANE. People tend to forget that. Especially bitch ass dudes like yourself, who needs to find something to harp on about Bush.

Bro, you control your anger and the name calling or start finding yourself a new username. I've been patient with you, to say the least.

  • Federal Funds Authorized To Help Fight Texas Wildfire, August 28, 2000, Federal funds were made available by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) over the weekend to help Texas battle the uncontrolled Live Oak Loop fire located in Hill County.

According to the agency, the state's request for federal fire suppression aid was approved on Saturday, August 26 after it was reported the blaze was threatening approximately 245 homes in the community of White's Bluff and the Live Oak resort.

Wow. 245 homes. Something much worse than Katrina.

  • Stimulus funds training for new Texas beauticians, Houston Chronicle, Aug. 29, 2009, AUSTIN — If you're depressed about the current recession, perhaps it's time to feel better about yourself with a trip to the beauty parlor.

And if you're worried about the future of your job, why not grab onto some federal stimulus money to become a beautician?

So far this year, $3.8 million in federal stimulus money has been paid to barber and beauty colleges in Texas' five largest counties to train future stylists. In Austin, the federal government has spent $3.1 million to train the future chefs of Texas.

I agree here; this IS much worse than Katrina !

Surely, Katrina-like.

No doubt. Rita was larger than Katrina, Right? Go ahead and lie.

Look dude, you can probably find numerous cases around the country. What you can't find is the fact that Texas tend to foot the bill for other states when it comes to energy, and commerce *look at the casinos in OK, Louisiana, and New Mexico*. I guarantee that whatever we ask for, the nation gets it back double with tax revenue we *Texas* generate.

I could go back to my point, however, I see that this whole discussion is going to change into a "fuck Texas" thread. Not to mention, I'm kinda in a name calling mood. God knows I don't want Que trying to IP ban me for being honest to everyone...

2nd! Texas is one state that a large amount of natural resources (currently restricted by the fed govt), land for days, an agricultural base, and a great sense of independence. Texas is a state that wouldn't be dependent on the govt much of nothin if they asserted their soveriegnty! Alaska too.....U betcha! I could see myself in TX cause this Vegas sh*t turnin into California

Neither of these states pay their way now so why would that change on their own. Mexico would quickly be overrun by Mexico and Alaska would would be annexed by either Russia or Canada.

actinanass has succeeded in changing the subject once again, however Texas's and Alaska's crude oil reserves return little to those states and the nation's budget surplus. Up until recently the oil companies received massive tax subsidies for searching for oil. Strange the argument from Sarah Palin was that Alaska is so independent with its oil reserves, yet got federal dollars for a bridge to nowhere. And residents of Alaska receive a dividend check for the oil in their state. Wow socialism is great!

On another note, the military and industry are the major consumers of oil. The US military is the single largest consumer industry of oil in the world. Just the navy itself consumes almost 20% of all the oil used in the US. Now you know why we have perpetual war, to supply the oil machine. Now back to the topic.

2 points: if Alaska produces a good that allows them pay ther citizens a dividend, thats not Socialism, thats profit-sharing! Socialism occurs when the govt takes money from a productive sector and redistributes it to a sector that is unproductive. :smh:

2nd point: One question Thought, Who's worse? Sarah Palin for requesting $$$ for her bonehead project or Congress / the govt, for giving it to her!

Profit sharing? That's a good one. If it were implemented on a national scale your type would call it socialism. What risk has the typical citizen of Alaska invested? (6 of 1 a half dozen of another)

Palin, she being a hypocrite and a liar. You do recognizer her as a hypocrite and liar? Where do you place the hypocrite and liar on the credibility scale?

thats just the issue, the Federal govt is broke, they can't create wealth, they can only confiscate it through taxes, inflation and interest on the debt. Alaska has vast natural resources and it is simply "sharing the wealth" that is created from those resources. The simple difference is the state did not have to "take" from one sector and give it to another.

it's not up to me to label her a hypocrit or liar. Through your admission, Congress is not 'bright' enough to recognize she is a liar ! thats even more scary. Don't get me wrong, I see her deception but Congress didn't see it, so she got over.

I'd have one criteria for these govt officials beggin for money for different projects: How is this grant going to make $$$?

BTW, aren't all politicians hypocritical liars?

Oh wait, you have to focus on republicans since you hate them so much....

Now, it all makes sense...

The last honest politician I've seen, everyone called him an idiot.

The point isn't about borrowing money, its about paying it back. Everyone on here knows that Texas, and Alaska pay what they owe. Same goes for Virginia, Florida, and Georgia. Notice how Thought isn't bringing up Michigan, California, and New York. Major conservative states bring major conservative money. Too bad the same can't go for major liberal states.

Not to mention, there's more people moving out of the so-called MAJOR liberal states, TO the major conservative states. Thus, why we hear all about NY, Detroit, Cali cats moving numerous states in the south.

However, that's not the focus. The focus is on things our state borrow. Not what we pay back. Liberals never talk about the end game. Its always about the beginning. Very typical.

See que, NO NAME CALLING. We both know Thought is going to probably start a thread talking about TEXAS again. Oh well....keep on trying to bait me thought....

I want him to first, acknowledge the Constitution, then we have basis for every argument that will evolve ie. healthcare, Income Tax, the creation of paper money through stimulus programs, Govt takeover of industry, Socializing the losses while privatizing the profits, the War on Drugs, the list goes on! Trust me, he don't wanna go down that road
