Palm Pre Owners Step This Way

actually it was harder for me on windows because i have x64 and i had to dig around for the 64bit novacom driver
I remember you posted that driver & I used that when I was going to set up for homebrew apps. So with that in mind it should be a little bit easier then right?

What all have you installed on it so far?

ahs .3.5 - home screen with weather and more icons

quicktext- canned messages for texting
shoutcast - dont really need it since you can do the same thing from the browser -havent used it yet- it might be worth it
classtracker - track education shit - courses grades assignments weight of assignments
reversi- game havent played it yet
what is my ip - will tell you your evdo ip and network info
shopping list - shopping list - havent used it yet
breakout - game - havent played
badd flashlight - ok turns your phone into a flashlight

filecoaster----------------- install apps from homebrew right on the phone - you can see all the homebrew apps from within this app and install them on the fly
this should be the first app you install

its not that Im not interested in these apps - ive just been busy as fuck

man it should be a 2 minutes for u
install the palm sdk - put your phone in dev mode - use that webos quick install plug in your phone
read the directions in case i forgot somethin but seriously it aint shit

its easier to setup homebrew than it is to setup an imap email account on your phone

i don't see the point of quick install... for one I couldn't get it to work [whole sep issue], but how hard is it to drag and drop the file you want to install onto the batch file in the sdk? I installed my first few apps that way and it was just as easy as quick install should have been in my opinion. And, once you install filecoaster the rest of the steps never need to be done again.

I already did those so that I can install homebrew apps. So does this mean that I rooted my phone without even realizing it?

kinda - you dont need to root your phone to install homebrew - you are ready to install now bruh

run that webos quick install jar and install your apps

rooting was required before but it isnt now- all you need is the phone in developer mode and those drivers/apps and youre good to go

rooting your phone is a different process from my understanding - it allows you to touch the underlying linux OS which the other process does not

Oh then I'm good to go. I've already been installing homebrew apps. The most recent one was an Android simulator. It's very beta but you can get access to email, calls & text messages from its main screen.

where did you get it?

Anybody had problems with their pre resetting? I went overseas recently, came back and it cycles on and off. But, it hasn't done it in the past day or two.

i just tried to launch an app and it cycled on me earlier
its not the battery though
just crashes i guess

It's in there. I just installed it this past Monday. I almost passed it too but recognized the Android logo.

cool im gonna try it

I was trying to send an email from my Pre, using my gmail account. I got this strange error. It said I couldn't sent the email because my login credentials were incorrect. I hadn't changed my password or anything like that, so I thought it was a strange glitch. I rebooted the phone and tried again, same error. I waited for about an hour, came back and tried again, same error. I actually went to gmail and changed my password, then changed the pre password, same error.

Turns out, gmail has a safeguard in place to guard against things like robots accessing your account. From time to time, you may run into this error, and have to go to gmail to manually unlock your account. The url to do this is:

https://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha

After I put in my password, and the correct verification code, i was able to use my pre to send out email again. Good info to know.

have any of you guys tried it yet? Does it work in landscape mode? That's where the real value of a virtual keyboard comes in.

The pre is gaining steam yall :dance::dance:

once they get that update to enable video camera recording then you officially can't tell me shit.

*sidenote* did that guy who put out the video showing his homebrew that turns off the camera noises ever release the app? */sidenote*

Wow you really are novice to this. Like Makk said you can make your own ringtones or simply use any mp3 as a ringtone. Look on the producers board for apps that allow you chop songs up so that you can make your own ringtones.

see i did the shit before i jus forgot how i did it and it's an MP3 file the shit jus aint doin it now jus thought i did somthin wrong

its probably where it is stored on your phone
make sure its in a folder without a period in front of the name
not in .music or .folder

go into your phone in usb mode to verify its in a folder that isnt hidden - the period to start a file name in unix/linux means the folder is hidden
