So much has been made of the size disparity you would think Floyd is fighting a kneeling midget. I didn't realize how big Marquez upper body is compared to Floyd. And check the difference in fist size:eek:

MARQUEZ: "I KNOW WHERE HE'S BEEN HURT AND I'M GOING FOR IT!"
Mexico City, Mex. (July 23) -Reports out of Mexico City, where five-time World Champion Juan Manuel Marquez is back in training for his scheduled September 19 bout (at MGM Grand in Las Vegas and televised live on HBO Pay-Per-View®) against Floyd Mayweather (Mayweather vs. Marquez "Number One/Numero Uno"), confirm that Marquez is bigger, stronger and punching "to the body" harder than ever as he pushes his training regime to new heights in preparation for his ultimate challenge against Mayweather.

Eyewitnesses say it is evident that not only is Marquez bigger, but his training includes a special focus on body work and technique as he looks to defeat the undefeated Mayweather, a six-time World Champion in five weight divisions.

"I know where he's been hurt and I'm going for it," said Marquez. "He is vulnerable now and I will take advantage of his weakness with a body attack that emphasizes two things-the right and the left."

Another testament to this new resolve are his grueling two-hour runs in the mountains of Nevado de Toluca at a staggering elevation of 13,500 feet.

"The mountain is a magic place and gives me the freedom to visualize the night of the fight and how I am going to beat him," said Marquez. "It is also building my endurance, making my legs stronger and building muscle across my whole body."

Marquez has also been adding weight as he works through technique in training.

Marquez finished, "I've been working gradually with the extra weight, which is going to be pure muscle and make me stronger than ever by the time I step in the ring September 19. Mayweather is going to be the first one to feel the difference."

Mayweather Takes IT to MMA and Puts Down Pacman's Promoter

Floyd Mayweather Jr. might not be talking much about the rib injury that delayed his fight with Juan Manuel Marquez, but that seems like the only topic not up for discussion.

In a recent interview with CBSSports.com, “Pretty Boy Floyd” rapped on Marquez and Pacquiao, and took a monster shot at mixed martial arts, saying that the sport which his Sept. 19 fight vs. Marquez is competing head-to-head against (UFC 103 is in Dallas the same night) is for “beer drinkers, boxing is for everybody.”

“You can’t take my shoes off, and take my shirt off and throw me in a cage. You do that with animals, you don’t do that with humans,” said a bold Mayweather. “It takes true skills to be in the sport of boxing.”

While Mayweather probably should have stopped his brash statements there — considering many of the MMA fans he was offending probably helped him become boxing’s “pay-per-view king” by purchasing his blockbuster fights — he didn’t, saying MMA was created by white fighters who couldn’t cut it in the ring.

"In boxing, we know who's dominating. Black fighters and Hispanic fighters is dominating in this sport,” Mayweather continued. “And this is not a racial statement but there's no white fighters in boxing that's dominating, so they had to go to something else and start something new."

When the subject turned to a much-anticipated match with Manny Pacquiao (whose fight against Miguel Cotto is in November), Mayweather said the Filipino superstar would have to become his own boss before he could consider a bout.

“Everybody wants to see the Pacquiao fight, but it doesn’t work like that. Pacquiao isn’t his own boss and he’s giving up 27 percent of his money to Bob Arum,” Mayweather said. “Once he becomes his own boss, then we can talk. If he’s not his own boss I ain’t got nothing to say to him.”

But just in case he does, Mayweather says you know where to find him.

“It’s not hard to find me. Everybody know I’m in Las Vegas,” he said. “Just look for the biggest mansion and the prettiest Rolls-Royce — that’s me.”:lol::lol::lol:

um yea...... im going with the smaller fist...... i remember that in physics.

this nigga talking like he ducking paquiao

Same thing I was thinking. IT's like the "I'm not going to let boxing retire me" bullshit he kicked when everyone wanted to see him fight Cotto or Mosley. I will unabashedly be rooting for MArquez to ko this clown. He's turned into the Joe Budden of boxing - a straight up attention whore.

This nigga stay makin bulletin board material ... but no one has shut him up yet ... except them home invaders!

I guess Floyd hasn't seen Anderson Silva...

Can't compare apples and oranges. Put Anderson in the squared circle and his boxing will look babyish compared to cats like May and Juan. Put Floyd in the octagon with Silva and he won't last 1 minute. Both exciting sports, great athletes both but not really comparable imho.

 I love to see cats who've been slept on for mad long finally get their due. Dudes combination punching is just beautiful to watch.

Man, I think this fight isn't going to be good. I can't wait for the Palvik and Paul fight. Two hard hitting dudes that are going throw punches. They really need pbf to hurt his ribs again. The size of jmj doesn't matter. Go by the weight jmj has fought at. that is why he is considered the smaller man. jesus, pbf fans spin everything.

My point wasn't to compare the two sports...I was addressing Floyd's comments about race in regards to MMA.

Pavlik and Williams are good fighters but not in MArquez and Mayweather's class. The skill level in this fight is what has the purist boxing fan drooling. And if Floyd doesn't actually fight or look exciting in this fight.......let's just say he's hated enuff to have the judges lean towards Marquez. And actually I think only one PBF fan has answered this post and it wasn't me because I don't like Floyd. Cats have been making the argument to me all week that Floyd is too big and is going to run over JMM. Ain't gonna happen.:smh:

he probably has seen pbf fight and knows he will be bored.

I feel ya'll Floyd isn't an offensive minded fighter, the thing is, he's not fighting Hatton(who sucks) or an old worn out Oscar or Baldomir(never in Floyds class) He's fighting a guy who for the last two or three years has been proving that he is possibly the best fighter in the sport and has been doing it against a high level of opposition and moving up in weight while doing it.
All the while, the so-called p4p king Pacman has just been moving up to get away from Marquez. I for one think Floyd is in deep waters this time. Marquez can handle speed(see his 2 fights with Pac and his whooping of Derrick "smoke" Gainer), he's the best combo puncher and counterpuncher in the game, he's got wicked power which he has taken up with him in weight and he's a master technician. I'm paying for this and the Cotto/Pac fight. If Pavlik/Williams is on PPV I'm payin for that too.

Good thing about PBF is when he gets in the ring he's all business.

If he was to sleep on Marquez he'll be asking "Why'd yall trip me? Why didn't they start the fight yet?"

lol, so called. moving up to get away from fighting a guy he has fought twice. ok.

hope pbf dont wuss out, marquez will win, as good as pbf is, ring rust will show, i wouldn't have taken that fight.........he has a better chance to win with cotto. or margarito

You really don't sound like much of a boxing fan. After winning a HIGHLY CONTROVERSIAL decision which most hardcore boxing people feel MArquez won(both fights), he was asked about a third IMMEDIATE decisive match with JMM, which the public was calling for, his answer was - "I'm done with this MArquez business". So he moves to lightweight and fights a fucking BUM named David Diaz, wins an alphabet title. Marquez arrives at lightweight, promptly ko's the Lineal Champ Casamayor who had never been put down. Pacquiao runs the fuck out of the division while MArquez stayed and cleaned it out. KO'ing two damm good fighters who'd never been ko'ed. Pac then fights an Oscar who should've been retired and ko's Hatton(who like I said sucks). While MArquez has beaten Casa, Diaz and has called out and gotten a fight with Floyd. Pacman wants no part of MArquez again he got a gift in that second fight. Manny is a product of having faced good fighters right at the point when they were slipping. Barrera, Morales was old and still beat him, OScar, Hatton, old guys and a collection of bums.

 why are you responding to Buk. Dude is a troll & has shown numerous times he doesn't know shit about boxing. His specialty is hating on Floyd any chance he gets.

As for PBF-JMM, this is a great fight. If your looking for a brawl, this fight isn't for you. People need to realize that JMM will be the most skilled boxer Mayweather has fought. Mayweather should win, but I will not underestimate these little guys again.

Exactly, nuff said.

lol I agree with him on MMA. MMA is alright, it's a real fighting spot compared to boxing, but boxing is far more technical and a good boxing fight is better than a good MMA fight.

You do know PBF is just trying to sale the fight so people will tune in to see him lose. He doesn't hate MMA as much as he wants people to believe

I agree, nobody involved in a combat sport for as long as Floyd has could really put these guys down. He's just talkin out the side of his neck like usual. I'm sure he has a healthy respect for those dudes.
