Alright, this goes out to all of you so called "experts" on the board. What kind of car is the Corvette ZR-1 chasing in the video? It's a contest by Autocar that will reveal the answer Friday I think.

I think it's a Lamborghini. Sound like a Gallardo's V-10 pitch. Maybe it's a LP-560. But then again it kind of sounded like a bike too.

The ZR-1 was right on top of it, and its acceleration is astounding!

I'm wondering what y'all think it is.

Either way, for about $100,000 the ZR-1 offers performance the Euros offer for $250,000 plus! Which confirms that we Americans make the best machines in the world. Now if we can get the politics out of out engineering and scientific genius we can go back to being a world leader in manufacturing.

There is no doubt that americans can make a great car - I am a vette owner....

However they need to understand that they need to produce that quality across the fleet vs one or 2 cars...

Hey when my brother had his corvette that corvette wave shit had me doing a double take like wtf, i guess it's tradition or something.

Sounds like a Porsche GT3 to me.

I know for sure it is absolutely not a fuckin bike :lol::lol:

I have a twin turbo drop top C5.

You can't get the Z06 in a vert.

Nice..... I think I wanna take 50k and use as a down payment on a ZR1 and finance the rest :yes::yes::D

But if I do that shit will be my collectors item eff that.

LOL, My salesperson told me all about it before I hit the road so I was ready.

What I can tell by the engine note is this:

- The engine has a flat plane crank. Ferrari, Aston Martin, Alfa, Maserati, and Lambo/Audi are the only major car makers using a flat plane crank configuration.

- Based on the brassiness and growl, I would say it's definitely not a V10 and probably a oversquared V8 (oversquare = bore is larger or almost as large as the stroke) or V12 or some sort - but not a Lambo. Lambo have more of a shriek once you get up in the upper register.

- Based on the pause between shifts, it's got a manual not a DCT-DSG-PDK or Double Clutch system. The shifts would have no pause - you'd just hear the revs drop.

- The exhaust has a flapper system to keep it quiet at lower revs, which makes me believe this may be a GT and not a sports car.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it's the Aston Martin V12 Vantage

The new one? :hmm: you could be right

Pick up a used C6, install a twin turbo system, beat the shit out of a ZR1 and keep your money in your pocket.

Yeah I have a c6.....

Was thinking about the APS or going supercharger for 1/2 the paper...

Heard the diff in the 05's were weak but already have a vendor for a upgrade...

APS systems are sick to say the least...
