Racial slurs and BGOL-- Which should be banned?

I actually forgot the shit was banned, the only word I won't allow is n-i-g-g-e-r, other than that everything else is fair game.

If you guys feel that strongly about saying k-i-k-e, I can get it unbanned for you, but damn, the shit been a banned word for at least 8 years and we don't use it enough to know it was a banned word.

I understand it's a conversation, I was just letting you know the history of the ban.

I wasn't playing devil's advocate here... this shit shouldn't be like the Internet in China where everything has to be pre-approved. HNIC showed himself to be a hypocrite with the whole kike/nigger thing and then, even though he said that was a special case and I could at least respect that argument-- because you'd have people like doglife, Acur and Killer caling people nigger every two seconds if they could-- just this month we've seen that shemale and stolegrown are banned and who knows what else is.

Please explain to me why, on a forum built on stolen content, the word "stolegrown" is now "the s-word."

You also assume that the powers that be dont have levels of actionable offenses and that circumventing the profanity filter doesnt fall near the bottom of the list of punishable offenses. #1. I don't assume that the mods job is to police the profanity filter. My original point was that the profanity filter is pointless. For HNIC to claim that the use of the word "nigger" is impermissible and something he just can't tolerate and have his own moderator calling all the men who post here a bunch of "nigg*rs" is hypocritical to say the least. You're right about the Devil's Advocate remark-- I'm not one of the many posters here who can never admit being wrong on a point.

I don't know what this "default" shit is, though-- You did respond in the O'Reilly thread and your response was that I shouldn't defend him because he's O'Reilly. I try to deal with principles and not personalities.

And I never claimed this was a big issue... Is this board only for discussing big issues? I was wrong to comment? And then I was wrong to bump the post when there was a recent thread about another word being censored and I then had the word "stolegrown" censored knowing that HNIC said there would only be one word censored on this forum???

I didn't know ******* (shemale) was censored until a couple of weks ago and I'd have never imagined ********** (stolegrown) could be a banned word... I don't think it is at all conspiratorial to acknowledge that more words could be censored that I'm/we're not aware of. There's a healthy precedent for it.

If you have nothing else to add, feel free to stay away from the thread. But you probably know the saying about assumptions and asses... It's not my fault you replied to some mythical position which existed only in your head.

Personally, I think the idea that I could tell someone what their position is without reading it and claim that it is the only stance a reasonable person could take demonstrates a lack of reason. To deduce "that a reasonable person could only be arguing" from perspectives known to you is quite arrogant and not conducive to ever learning or evolving.

I think there's actually room for conversation on the first point in my previous response to you but you don't have to acknowledge it if you don't want to.
