Re: New Opera mobile beta dropping on June 8th

i'd be appreciative of the hook up. i want to see how the new version handles flash vs. Skyfire.

After being dissapointed from HTC Rhodium (tf3d2) and Windows Mobile 6.5 Chrome, I decided to load in the the SPB Mobile Shell 3.0 with the Mighty ROM 6.1 flashed in my Touch Pro. Good shit!

Been playing with it all day and I honestly dont see no problems. the memory usage is very good as well and doesn't eat up alot like the 2 I mentioned above. I like how its a combination of the Android desktop and the Palm Pre's cards with that courisel thing.

I needed something in my Touch Pro in the meantime to entertain me until I get the Pre. Props on the post that put up the SPB Mobile Shell 3.0.

here you go...
http://www.sendspace.com/file/k3llh5

skyfire is still the best option. the cab enable most flash sites most notably youtube...performance depends on how your device is setup as far as what rom you are using and what tweaks you may have going on.

to get it to work properly install opera 1st then the plugin cab

good luck and enjoy.

thanks.

quick question. I have the original Opera 9 that came with the phone. I installed the new Opera on mystorage card. The past few days the original Opera will work but the new version stars the shuts down. How do I get it so that I can use them both? Is that even possible?

Opera 9 came installed on the factory ROM so I don't think I can get rid of it (and I don't want to). Should I also install the new Opera on the device? Just curious. Thanks again.

For those who is interested seen it on here but the link is dead if any one still has one link to this please re-up

man i dont know if i should cop the touchpro2 when it comes out or get a pre next week
Honestly I'm leaning more towards the Palm Pre. I'm starting to really dislike the memory hog issues with Windows Mobile. My TouchPro is starting to have moments where it will just drag or even freeze yet there are no running apps in taskmanger.

what carrier will have the touchpro2?
i know sprint has it since i saw pics of it branded as sprint - im guessing verizon-alltel will have it too at some point
the tp2 was supposed to come out before the htc blackberry lookin joint but that shit is out already and i still dont see the tp2 available

great:smh:
Verizon always gets phones last, or they dont get the phone at all. Im about to switch carriers. Verizon has great service, but they suck when it comes to getting new phones.

alltel should have it right away since they are cdma and usually have sprint stuff- im pretty sure the tp2 isnt an exclusive

Don't get the Pre, watch this review, no expandable memory or touchscreen keyboard, also the regular keyboard is horrible.

that vid doesnt load like that - you have to copy the embed code and put it in the youtube tags

It comes with 8GB of on board memory. I don't plan on using it for storing music & apps tend to be small in size so that amount of space should be more than enough for me. Hell I only have a 2GB MicroSD card in my TouchPro & am content. As for the keyboard, I have to play with it in person to gauge that but shouldn't be too bad compared to trying to type on an all touchscreen phone. I had the HTC Touch & it became a royal pain in the ass trying to type on that screen. I'm hoping it isn't much different than trying to type on a Blackberry 8700 or 8800.

Well, I played with the iphone and my typing was so off it wasn't even funny, I prefer the Touch Pro in regards to typing.

For the Pre to be so hpyed up and have no external storage is lame, even though the iphone is the same thing, I prefer the Storm giving you the ability to change the SD for a larger one in the new future.

Man my contract ended with Att on the 11th...I would recommend waiting on buying a new device if you do not need one right now.

There are too many new phones coming out this summer/fall.

While to tp2 is really tempting for me...I'm bored with WM and I will be moving on from the platform. I'm at the point I just a device that works with having to tweak it to get the best performance out of it. WM is great for it's flexibility...but that is about it

And to Delta,

I got a chance to play wth the palm pre myself last week.

I was thoroughly impressed. After playing around with just the touch screen I seriouslly forgot it had a keyboard. the multitouch capabilities are the best i have seen on the device yet...and it is FAST even with multiple apps running.

The keyboard although it seems, small actually is well executed as the buttons are raised just enough so that you do not make mistakes when typing.

The only caveat for me is that the Pre has not expandable storage. Being limited to 8gb just does not cut it for me as I have a 16gb card in my tilt wth only 3.5 gb of space left

alltell is part of verizon.
i know that what i said "alltel-verizon" originally then u said verizon gets stuff last - i guess u meant the simcard version
i kinda dont like that if i get the pre it wont work in europe or any sprint phone

i have an ipod i use for music and an 8gb card in my touch that i dont even really use anymore so memory isnt an issue
paying for apps ala iphone is definitely an issue though so i might wait it out
i aint gonna go for the nickel and dime app subscription bullshit business model that i think theyre gonna go for

my first year with sprint is up so i get full discount on the pre - other than the tp2 there really isnt anything coming out that i want on sprint - im not changing carriers

is there something hot on the horizon that you are aware of besides those two - for sprint?

If you dont want to stick with sprint...your options are going to be great.

personally I'm eying the nokia n97

It does in deed look faster than the TouchPro but I did notice a lil lag while navigating through the TouchFlo tabs. Maybe I'm starting to get biased due to the waning enthusiasm towards Windows Mobile & their lack of innovation to the OS. I think they've allowed themselves to fall well behind the curve due to either ignorance or cockyness & now find themselves playing catch up.

not fuckin with nokia at all - shit is overpriced and their feature advantage seems gone
i dont want an iphone and there's nothing else that would make me go back to at&t - im happy with sprint - verizon/alltel is trash around here too

yeah but you can multitask and theres tons of apps- i dont know - if i can get apps for the pre that arent subscription based or somehow im not forced to pay for them i might go pre for the fuck of it
im sure soon as i get it synced to itunes it would lose support

The Pre is Palm OS, so of course you can get apps for free. same as with winmo apps. They can be cracked as well. I havent used Palm in a few years, but i may have some warez sites on my pc somewhere.

yeah manny posted a big sale nokia had online on friday night like 30% off or some shit
it was like $349 or something
the interface looks wack as fuck though- what os does it run?

symbian

check out the stats
32gb in a phone, thats crazy.

Camera - 5 MP, 2592x1944 pixels, Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, LED flash, video light

The Pre isn't using Palm OS but I believe it does have an emulator to allow you to use Palm OS apps.

This is exactly how I feel about WM right now...Redmond is doing what they do best...dragging their feet and giving us bullshit updates like Wm 6.1 and WM 6.5
