Is anything made in America?

Man I'll add more to it on my own experience. The job I have is called Process Operator. 10 years ago you needed no experience to gain my type of employment. My grand father, uncles, aunt, and all my co workers came to the plant right after high school graduation. Now you need a 2 years Associate degree from a community college to just walk in the plants. Times have really changed. The days of a good job at 18 are over. Shit even with most Bachelors degrees and even Masters you're going to be making fucking pennies. I have friends who're Social Workers with Masters making less than 35k a year who live at home. 30 years ago that same person would be living a nice life. Not now :smh::smh::smh:

Just think back to our grand parents neighhobrhoods.

You ain't lying. My grandfather worked at Chrysler back in the day and moved to Southwest Detroit over near the Rouge Steel Mill. It used to be a very nice neighborhood. But, when that steelmill closed...:smh:. Even in the suburbs when they closed the Ford Wixom plant. All those new businesses closed down and that shit looks like a scene from a western movie.

 I remember working at a Army warehouse and recieving berets made in China...This was when the Army changed to Black berets. The Commanding General would not let the soldiers wear the China berets. We had to rush to order the made in USA berets before the Ceremony...Once they came in they didn't have the blue backgound sewn on...Came in a separate bag.:smh:(The China ones did). Now we had to rush to get the patches sewn on. Finally got them issued to all the soldiers. The bad thing about the whole situation was the China berets were built better, came with the patch sewn on, and were easier to shape (those who wear berets feel me). The USA ones were all fuzzy with lint. They couldn't get their money back from the China berets either. What a waste of money.

That's a convincing argument!!!
I'd take that quote and send it straight back to you!!!!!

You say only the lowest price matters, don't you?
You say only dollars determine price, don't you?
You say the economy (e.g. China) which has the lowest prices in dollars should make the product, don't you?

If you believe this, then you don't anything about how pricing, currency, or economies work.

Is that clearer?

Absolutely no clearer at all!!!
All you have done is asked 3 questions and repeated your claim!!
Come on man even in high school that would have got you a..
FAIL!
Please redo the assignment!!!

Real original. You're right because you say so.

America is alway preaching about free market economies!!
If that is the case then things should be made where it is cost efficient.

If all the shit you want to be made in America was made in America, you couldn't afford to buy it!!

It's best to think about what you wish for, before you wish for it!!!!!

This is your post. This is BS. This is naive and ignorant.

Importing is stupid if you can make it here. But, you have posted just the opposite.

Now, can you defend imports? Or, will you continue with your simple-minded diversions?

Incorrect.
Importing is not stupid if it is cheaper and more cost effective to produce it abroad.
If you have 2 shops selling identical goods and one is selling it cheaper than the other, would not a rational individual purchase the good from the cheaper shop?

I don't see what is so controversial about my point. Seems like common sense to me. All I'm doing is expanding upon that basic premise and applying it to the cost of production.

What defines cheaper? Is it price in dollars? Cost in time? Cost in materials? Cost in fuel?

If you define price as dollars or any other national currency in use today, then price is an illusion.

Price is a fantasy. Price is a distraction. Price is exploitation.

Why? Because dollars (and all national currency throughout the world) is not real. It is not based on value. It is not based on production. It is not based on cost.

So, if the KKK is selling goods that are cheaper than your best friend, and you hate the KKK, are you saying cheaper is all that matters and you would buy from the KKK?

When people only buy on price, they give up control over their economic lives.

They are willing to be controlled by an imaginary mechanism that they think somehow leads to prosperity and a sound economic future.

Price is BS! Imports are BS if their only advantage is based on price.

When you understand it's not about price, but COST, then you understand how this FREE TRADE garbage is destroying the middle class in this country and impoverishing the world!

Do you not sell them for a price? ie the wages you receive for a day/week or months work...

You know what bruv?
I don't know what books you've been reading but the knowledge they impart doesn't really appear to be very helpful.
I earn x amount of $ per year, out of that I have to pay some tax, some housing, some clothing, some food and other essentials, I try and save some and the rest is spent on luxuries or items I just desire. I therefore have a finite amount of money to spend, I weigh up the cost benefit to myself and make a decision, American cars don't give me enough benefit for the the cost incurred, so I choose German or Japanese cars.
It would appear that I'm not the only one to have concluded this , which is why the American car industry is in the position it is now.

Therein lies the rub, everything that's produced at a cheaper rate in a country with no Quality Control is not cost effective in the long run. Think of the damage, monetarily and otherwise, incrueed by the companies who have been burned by China's piss poor QC issues. Remember the tainted dog food, lead based paint on kids toys, tainted dry wall, etc that has occurred over the last couple of years all in the effort to import cheap shit.

But it hasn't happened as yet with electronics or motor vehicles?
If it does the companies will pay the cost!!!

You don't know jacksquat about the way pricing, currency, or economies work.

Ignorance must be bliss for you.

First, you don't seem to know what a dollar is.

Second, since you don't know what a dollar is, you think everything having a dollar price determines its true cost and value.

Third, because you don't know how to determine true cost and value, it makes it almost impossible to decide if it has a net benefit to you.

Like almost all Americans, you are operating in an economic dark age. But, what makes it worse (like the Dark Ages), is you think you know but are really ignorant as hell.

If you want me to teach you, then first you have to understand the basics.

What is money? What is credit? What is a price? What is cost?

Let me just say, if you think shopping at Wal-Mart, buying a bunch of useless luxury items, buying foreign cars and Chinese-made goods makes any damn sense, and investing/spending your savings with the honkeys is in your best interest...

you have some learning ahead of you.

Someone didn't teach you right. But, that's okay. The powers that be don't want people to be taught how to act in their own best interests.

I see your a BGOL donor!
It would appear that you attach the same value to the dollar as I do, so your preaching have a somewhat hollow ring...
What ever theories you are operating under are pointless if no one else operates under them.

If you want to forward your theories , by all means do so.
I can't promise to accept or agree with them, but better you do that than just boast about how much you think you know in comparison to me.

I've driven European, Japanese and American cars and I'm afraid to tell you the American ones are by far the worse.
I'm not even going to broach the topic of fuel efficiency....

I see many Japanese and European cars in the US , but rarely see American cars in Europe....Nuff Said!!

So why is the one of the most most grueling races in motorsports dominated by GM and Corvette Racing?

And I am talking about the American LeMans Series GT1 12 and 24 hour endurance racing.

And this is FACT not OPINION.

http://www.americanlemans.com

I've been driving Corvette's for 10 years and have never had a problem.

You are looking at the donor thing to discredit my argument? Oh man, you just don't know. :D

So, you're saying these are theories. Oh boy.

If you want to learn and have an intelligent conversation, you have some learning ahead of you.

Watch the money is debt video.
Watch International Money Masters.
Learn how the Federal Reserve works.
Learn how trade works in this country.
Learn about the IMF, BIS, and World Bank.
Know what fractional-reserve banking is.
Know what currency is as opposed to money.
Learn about comparative advantage and the division of labor.

Obviously, this is just scratching the surface. But, at least the conversation can be somewhat intelligent with this basic understanding.

The reality is you are not qualified to speak on economic issues with any authority, despite what you think.

Read. Learn. Then offer an opinion. This is my area of expertise so you had better come with some knowledge instead of this mindless "free trade" propaganda you're spouting.

I'm not an expert on this but I'm guessing it's because it's the American LeMans...
Maybe the Europeans prefer the original Le Mans which is held in Le Mans in France......
I think that may be dominated by European cars...

I've driven a Corvette as well my friend and to be honest it doesn't compare to say An Audi A5 (That's my current ride.

You guys appear to be taking it too personal, the fact that most of Europe does not rate American cars, is not a personal attack. Why you worried.
America does many things better than the rest of the world, it just so happens that making classic motor vehicles is not one of them at the moment......

That's great.
But what I can't get my head around is how you are functioning in this system any differently to me or anyone else.
If you are not functioning any differently then all this information you are in possession of is pointless.....

ps I studied all this in college at undergraduate as well as post graduate...

How can I operate as ignorantly as you if my information is superior to yours?

It seems it would be self-evident that the way I approach every aspect of my financial life is going to be different than yours and the average clueless, brainwashed American.

There is a reason why bankers/financial guys ride around in jets while the rest of the country is suffering with unemployment, crashing home values, decreased credit, and shaky futures.

Either you know what's coming or you are going to get run over by it.

ps I studied all this in college at undergraduate as well as post graduate...

Yet, another indictment on the schools and universities in this country.

They teach ignorance. Their whole purpose is to give you a false sense of accomplishment so you will continue to support this ass-backwards system.

Read, man. Read.

Someone needs to sit down with you and explain how it all works, so you won't just be another pawn in the system.

Sorry!
How did you say you operate any differently from me or any one else?

And...

Why do my personal affairs matter to you?

It seems you are more interested in my personal life than defending your arguments.

Once again, you don't know anything about pricing, currency, and economies. You have not said one word in your defense.

Can you defend yourself? Or, are you just talking out your ass?

AFTER READING THIS THREAD ..............

I FIND IT AMAZING
THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO LIVE RIGHT HERE IN THE USA
AND DONT THINK THAT THIS SHIT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM.
SOME OF YALL ARE TALKING LIKE YOU LIVE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY
AND WHEN SHIT GOES WRONG , IT WONT EFFECT YOU.
ITS LIKE YALL ARE ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKIN IN:lol:
YALL ARE IN HERE TOO..........

THATS AN AMAZING POINT OF VIEW
I WISH I COULD SHARE IT WITH YALL:smh:

Tru,

I usually agree with you... but I have to disagree here. I know in the utopian view of AMERICA everything would be made and sold here. But in current society.. we all compete globally not locally. If you owned a bike manufacturing shop and wanted to sell a bike for $15K.. You pay your workers on average $50k/year. Then the Chinese company that manufactures overseas opens up a dealership right beside you and starts selling a bike of EQUAL QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE of yours for $12K because they have cheaper labor costs.

Potential customers are going to buy the cheaper bike all things considered. So what are you going to do as a business owner? You are going to cut your LARGEST EXPENSE which is LABOR so that you can compete.

That is all that has happened in the bigger picture.

The only way that this stops is if the GOV'T interferes with capitalism. Meaning that they tax the hell out of imports that people buy here. Or they force companies that sell in the U.S. to hire workers from here... which means INFLATED PRICES for every domestic consumer.

Consumers are going to purchase the $12K bike.

I UNDERSTAND ALL THAT

HOWEVER
WE PAY A LITTIE MORE NOW
OR WE WILL PAY A LOT MORE LATER.

THIS SAME SHIT HAPPENED TO ALL THE BEAUTY SUPPLY STORES.
A BLACK PERSON COULDN'T OPEN A BEAUTY SUPPLY STORE
IF THEY WANTED TOO IN AMERICA.
YET THE #1 SUPPORTER OF THESE KOREAN OWNED OPERATED AND SUPPLIED
ESTABLISHMENTS ARE BLACK PEOPLE.

THEY INFRINGE ON COPYRIGHTS,
REVERSE ENGINEER AND BOOTLEG PRODUCTS.
DONT PUT ONE QUARTER BACK
THE DOLLAR DOES NOT CIRCULATE IN THAT COMMUNITY AT ALL.

WHATS NEXT ?

LIKE I SAID EARLIER
IN THIS CASE
I HOPE I AM WRONG AND
YALL ARE RIGHT.

IF IM RIGHT ....
WE ARE IN A SHIT LOAD OF TROUBLE.
OUR KIDS AND GRAND KIDS WILL PAY FOR OUR ARROGANCE
IMPATIENCE AND INDISCRETION.
