Oh, you're assuming that they were playing to win.

YES, they shouldnt have went by the book in the 9th. it was about MOMENTUM. the braves had the sox on the ropes, dont give them life by bringing in, and i quote the announcers after the game "your 4th best relief pitcher." i mean, the game is ON THE LINE in the bottom of the 9th. a loss like that can mess up the young braves....the management of games in baseball never ceases to amaze me...too many managers just follow what everyone else does or the way its always been done....If you're in a close game, up 1 or maybe down 1, and in the 6th or 7th , the other team loads the bases, why not bring in your closer there to put out the fire and keep it close and winnable in the last few innings....What good does having your closer available in the 9th do you when you're now down 3 or 4 runs??...And why is it that a closer can't get more than 3 outs...why can't he pitch the 8th and 9th...like all the old skool closers did....Most teams now have a setup guy for the closer....So if your closer pitches 2 innings today, why not let the set up guy be the closer in tomorrows game...Baseball is a great game but makes no sense sometimes...![]()
bobby cox need to get fired he has fucked up alot this year regarding substituting players. as a braves fan and a blue jays fan cito gasten has owned bobby cox in knowing how to manage a team and bobby cox was cito's mentor.

I think Atlanta management has the same problem Penn State has. You want to go in a new direction yet you feel you have to remain loyal to someone who's been a fixture with your organzation for decades.

i dont care what other teams do, if you dont have big boppers, the pitchers and lower order got to learn how to move runners over. glad to see francouer was benched today, i didnt see him come up in those crucial spots like he always do. anyway, they either got to get cox something to work with or find a new manager.exactly whats going on, hanging on. i love cox, dont get me wrong, the problem is he isnt a good fit for SCRUBS. the braves are not fundamental on defense, nor can they manufacture runs. whens the LAST time you seen a braves player successfully bunt somebody over.i dont care what other teams do, if you dont have big boppers, the pitchers and lower order got to learn how to move runners over. glad to see francouer was benched today, i didnt see him come up in those crucial spots like he always do. anyway, they either got to get cox something to work with or find a new manager.
jeff francoeur has really disappointed me he was suppose to had fixed all his problems atleast that's what I had thought when the season first started. I remember them saying he changed his batting stance and everything and he still swings at just about every pitch he sees.
I heard they tried to trade him last week to the marlins for cody ross but the marlins rejected the trade. now if another team don't even want you then that's sad his career is slowly ending seems like it and I think he is only signed through this year with the braves.

who is cody ross? anyway, francouer looks like he is swinging a golf club. he has got to be traded for SOMETHING. a 7th round draft choice and some biscuits should get it done.![]()
...time for the Braves to bring in a totally different philosophy.
they have to get someone to back up Lowe...He can't be the only ace in the squad and the most reliable pitcher at all times...What philosophy would that be?
Winning baseball is PITCHING, HITTING and DEFENSE, and if you have SPEED on the base thats a bonus....the Braves have had decent pitching, and their defense has been pretty good...their problem is lack of POWER, lack of clutch PLAYERS (hitting), and lack of SPEED.

im not making this a racist issue, just, quoting jeff francouer's favorite line " it is what it is". they REFUSE to bring in players with the intangibles. look, when they got rid of edgar renteria, i knew they wasnt serious about winning. people point out that the braves got jurrgens for renteria. ok, but u cant replace the CLUTCH hitting renteria gave you. he faultered a little bit in detroit, but whose to say he wouldve done that if he stayed in atlanta. another big thing that braves fans say under their breath, but dont wanna admit: GARY SHEFFIELD was there for the taking in the off season. the mets SCOOPED him up with the quickness. the mets and philadelphia arent afraid of the brothers being on the team. they are not afraid of a LEGIT speed guy at leadoff. they braves have no winners on the team outside of mccann. chipper as everybody knows, never wanted to be the leader. chipper is the man, i have no problem with him, but he is the ONLY bargaining chip the braves have since they dont wanna spend money on free agents. chipper could bring them a bat and PROSPECTS. look at how they let texas gut their farm system with the texeiria trade. the braves need to return the favor to another club by restocking with a chipper trade.Winning baseball is PITCHING, HITTING and DEFENSE, and if you have SPEED on the base thats a bonus....the Braves have had decent pitching, and their defense has been pretty good...their problem is lack of POWER, lack of clutch PLAYERS (hitting), and lack of SPEED.
A more aggressive approach to the game....Cox is a conservative manager, with conservative players...They play to keep the games close, but lack the clutch players to win those close games....Chipper is the only baller on the team and he's far past his prime, and can't stay healthy...great player though, one of my all time favorites.
Truth....I think he is underrated as far as who are the top players in the league...Most baseball fans go for one end or the other on the offensive side whether for HRs (A-Rod, Pujols, Howard) or for average (Ichiro)
Chipper has been one that has had the balance for most of his career...I think that he's been the guy to do it in the past before guys like Mauer came on recently.
