ATL Heads: Good Restaurants????

- JD's restaurant is small but the food is very good there. Try the salmon.

- Harlem Bar (on Edgewood) has some very good food.

- Fat Matt's BBQ has some of the best BBQ in the A. JJ Rib Shack is good too but it gets too damn packed in there on the weekends

- Papi's Grille (on Ponce) has some good Cuban food. I'm from South Florida and I'm use to good Cuban food and Papi's comes very close.

- Great Wall Chinese Restaurant - This little Chinese takeout on South Cobb Drive in Smyrna is one of the best Chinese restaurants that I've been to. I'm very particular about Chinese food so I don't just eat at any Chinese restaurant.

- Pappadeaux - great Cajun seafood. I go to the one on Windy Hill in Marietta. I think there's one in Gwinnett.

** Where's a good Jamaican or Caribbean restaurant?? I'm also looking for a good Thai restaurant. I heard that Surin's in Va. Highlands is good.

jamaica jamaica old natl hway college park!!

Island Cafe on Memorial Dr. for Jamaican food

Try the island cafe on memorial dr. Its a hole in the wall but the shit is good.

It was a hole in the wall... they moved 2 doors down and dumped some money into designing the place. Same food, better atmosphere... you could actually take a shorty there for some lunch now and eat in...

My shit used to be (b4 I moved):

El Azteca.... on Ponce... Them Texas Margaritas are soooooo strong. Food is decent. It was a cool gathering spot for my friends on a evening or weekend. I aint no light weight either... I never left that place without at least being buzzed.

Ru Sans - A couple of them in Atlanta.... Peachtree/Peidmont up the street from JD's
Inexpensively good Sushi, and japanese cuisine. Im a fried rice kinda guy...their chicken fried rice was off the chain. $5.95

Yall need to list the creep spot resturants....

Damn, you killed it.

I've heard of da Thumbs Up diner. Matter of fact, I think it was featured on one of da shows on either Food Network or da Travel Channel. Shit, I'm in da culinary field & there's alot of restaurants that I have yet to experience. Tell me more about this Thumbs Up diner though.

thumbs up is on edgewood headed towards inman park. its a breakfast spot - i think they may close early at like 3 or 4 too. its small and stays packed - especially on the weekend - you drive by and there will be a line of people outside lookin' like a block party.

the pancakes have like vanilla, cinnamon, and crack in them or something

same thing with the catfish. every time i eat there i get the fried catfish and grits. i don't even like catfish!!!

if you go.. you gotta get the catfish and pancakes. this chick just opened a cafe next door called Desserts by Latrell.. if you catch her on the right day that pound cake and the cobbler is on point.

OHH and one of my other all time favorites how can i forget - esp if you're in that area.. Frutta Lotta!! its on Auburn. Ecuadorian chick owns it. She does fresh fruit smoothies, fruit cups, sandwiches, and salads. She has this one salad... mixed field greens, smoked turkey, smoked swiss, mango, and a homemade lemon vinagrette on top... heaven.

her breakfast sandwich is damn good too.

she does a homemade corn dumpling soup.. her menu is damn good.

All that shit sounds good as hell, even da pancakes in which I don't even like (I'ma french toast man.) I'ma have to check some of these spots out. What about Silver Skillet??? They must close early too, huh??? I say that b/c any of da times I've ever tried to go they were closed. You know anything about da Social House on Howell Mill???

silver skillet.. never been.
social house never heard of. maybe i'll check it this saturday.

Yeah, the Social House is a bkfst spot (they don't serve soda neither, only juices, tea & coffee.) It's owned by da same folks that own The Harlem Bar & Rare. I've never been neither but their menu is pretty on point. It's right on Howell Mill beside Richard Blais' Flip Burger Boutique.

have you been to harlem bar? i still haven't been. I keep hearing mixed reviews.. the atmosphere i heard is on point but the food is hit or miss. maybe i'll hit there tomorrow night.

speaking of juice and no soda.. u know of any spots that do fresh squeezed everything aside from ardens garden?

I just came from down there and I highly recommend Nori Nori. It is a Japanese All you can eat buffet with sushi and everything. Good sushi, not the lame stuff. $25 a plate but it is totally worth it. And if you don't like it I will give you your money back. No lie.

I never even heard of Ardens Gardens & da only time I went to da Harlem Bar was when I went to do a demo there (BOH) to see if that's somewhere that I'd like to work (they got a small, tight ass kitchen.) Didn't get da position though for reasons unknown to me. I heard they were good though, but to me, their menu is only decent & it's not a place that you'd take a broad on a intimate date bein' that it's so noisey. What I have heard complaints about though is da parking. Findin' parking over there is a bitch. But like I said, there's a TON of places that I need to experience though especially since I'm in that field.
