How did he beat out Muhammad Ali:smh::smh: (edit: Nike,ESPN,Gatorade,McDonalds, "republicans buy sneakers too")

As for the greatest NBA player... since they play to win the game, it has to be Mr. Russell and his 11 rings... no contest. he dominated his time like no other basketball player. He'd hang himself if he woke up with Jordan's Rings

Talent pool was bigger and better when Jordan was playing. Jordan hands down.

ANY QUESTIONS?

NO DOUBT!!!!!!!!!!!:wepraise:

1. Wilt Chamberlain set all the records!
2. Kareem Abdul Jabbar broke many of those records!
3. Bill Russell won 11 NBA titles, but!
4. All of those men claimed that Oscar Robertson was the baddest MF to ever step on the court.

Do the math, all of the above would tend to place MJ as no better than a distant fifth place.

Still, nobody has ever gotten close to Bill Russell's eleven rings, so he gets the first place at the table.

The Big O was a beast. No doubt about it. His stats are fucking amazing. But he wasn't the impact player MJ was.

do ya'll have any idea how slow niggas was in the 50s and 60s? blocking all them white boys must of felt real nice:lol: bill russell and wilt my ass. Some of today's powerfowards and Center's would dominate they ass in their prime. Their build is just way different today. so not sure how anyone can classify them as greatest of all time.

Bill Russell has a strong argument. So does Wilt. For my money, I'm going with MJ, but I don't see anything wrong with someone picking Bill Russell at all. Brilliant basketball player, and UNLIKE Mike, he didn't stand still on racial, social, and political issues.

:hmm:

Bill Russell was playing during the height of racial strife and the civil rights movement in america and he did not take a backseat while this was going on, he made his beliefs known.

And you refer to this brother as a "nigga".

The Big O was a beast. No doubt about it. His stats are fucking amazing. But he wasn't the impact player MJ was.

Let's not forget that in his three year college career (back when they did not have three pointers) Oscar averaged:
35.1
32.6
33.8 (and 15 boards)
3X college player of the year, they retired his number BEFORE he graduated.

All of this at 6'5" and 215 lbs. Granted that was college, but i just wanted to add a little bit of clarity to how beastly the Big O was.

NBA:
*rookie of year after 1960-61 season
*all star mvp in his rookie year (23 points 14 assists), and again in '64 and '69
*in 1961-62 he averaged 30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 11.4 assists!!!
*1963-64 season he was NBA MVP with an average of 31.4 and 11 assists per game
*1971 NBA championship with kareem for the Bucks
*his jersey was retired by 2 NBA teams Bucks and Royals
*still the third leading assist man in NBA history
*still 9th all time leading scorer in league history
*12 straight NBA all star appearances
*9 times first team all NBA
*from 1960 - 68 was the only player other than Wilt Chamberlin or Bill Russell to win MVP honors

And you refer to this brother as a "nigga".
ok nigga, and you referred to him as a brother....not going there.

Let's not forget the most dominant player in league history:

Wilt Chamberlin

* 4x NBA Most Valuable Player (1960, 1966, 1967, 1968)
* NBA Rookie of the Year (1960)
* 7x All-NBA first team (1960, 1961, 1962, 1964, 1966, 1967, 1968)
* 3x All-NBA second team (1963, 1965, 1972)
* 2x NBA All-Defensive first team (1972, 1973)
* 22.9 career rebound average!!! (minimum 400 games)
* 27.2 rebounds per game average in one season!!! (1961 season)
* 55 rebounds in one game!!! (November 24, 1960, vs. Boston)
* led the league in assists in 67-68 season (highest assist total in league)
* 100 points in one game
that is just a small sample of his domination. how many rules did mj force to be changed?

wilt - "During his career, his dominance precipitated many rules changes. These rules changed included widening the lane, instituting offensive goaltending and revising rules governing inbounding the ball and shooting free throws (Chamberlain would leap with the ball from behind the foul line to deposit the ball in the basket)."

I just wikepedia'd Kareem... he may have an argument!!!

Jordan was a beast....

Russell 11 rings.. cant deny that..

Big O only player to average a triple double for an entire season...
