This is true which is why I will always take the style of play in the 80's and early 90's over today's style of play.

That's why I side with keeping Dirk as much as I do. The real problem with the Mavs is consistency. Dirk is the most consistent player *scoring wise* on the mavs. However, around him, there's no consistent player *scoring wise* when defenses key in on him. What I mean by scoring, I mean by going straight to the hole if needed. Basically an all around game. Once someone steps up to that role, Dallas will stay in the *go to the playoffs every year, yet do not get far* category.

No doubt they were legit (in today's NBA standards), but what about the other end? How are you supposed to play when: one team goes to the hole and gets knocked down, hit on the arm, hand/hip checked and another team can't be touched or appeared to be touched or a foul will be called?
