What "foreign policy" are these hoodlums/jackers involved in?
The UN special envoy for Somalia on Friday sounded the alarm about rampant illegal fishing and the dumping of toxic waste off the coast of the lawless African nation.
"Because there is no (effective) government, there is so much irregular fishing from European and Asian countries," Ahmedou Ould Abdallah told reporters.
On top of that, why is there no govt in place in Somalia? We are quick to "help" stabilize any country that has resources which we can exploit. Somalia has nothing we want so we let situations go unchecked. What happens in that type of lawless environment?
How ever this recent standoff hostage situation is resolved. I hope it leads to laws providing all cargo and cruise ships to act with deadly force against suspicious behavior while they are out at sea. I pray it also leads to a raid on the ports the pirates are using killing anything and everything in those supply buildings.

Well why don't the pirates only target the ships that are engaged in the massive illegal fishing? This would give them some type of credibility that they do this for a reason other than greed. I understand that desperate times call for desperate measures, but you have to be careful not to become what you are fighting against. Cause aren't the Somali pirates engaged in massive illegal pirating? So they are in turn practice the same thing they are supposed to be fighting against.
Now i'm aware that I many have over simplified this, but when you start to effect people who really have nothing to do with your supposed cause, you run the risk of becoming just as bad as though who have oppressed you.
I respect the somali pirates they are just protecting their territory other countries are coming in trying to dump pollution in their water where they get their fish from so I don't blame them for protecting themselves.
shout out to the somali pirates.![]()
Some of you are so easily fooled its not even funny.
1)Do you deny that key EU nations, including, France, Spain, and UK and other members of this coalition of the willing are engaged in multi-million dollar illegal fishing in Somali waters?
2)why has the UN SC SC/951-which in fact allows land based invasion of Somalia by basically any nation in the name of fighting piracy and resolution 1851[2008 ] which authorized the current military build on Somali waters, removed any reference to the rampant problem of illegal fishing and the illegal dumping of nuclear wastes in Somali waters?
In fact the EU consider Tuna in Somali waters as belong to the EU and wish to protect $6 BILLION industry that will soon collapse just like the Atlantic fishery. The real pirates are EU fishing industry!

I always laugh at people who want to support this shit, because it's like,, why the fuck are you here in america then? take your ass over there with them and help em out. Its a bunch of means to get your countr together that doesn't involve taking from other people who didn't personally do anything to you. It's like saying its ok for a dude to rob you because his parents was on drugs, yeah you understand but it wasn't your fault.

easily fooled about what I've done my research I know what's going on unlike you.
Then why not only attack the ones involved in the illegal fishing and waste dumping?
So far the pirates have attacked everything and everyone they can get their hands on, who can be ransomed off.
Preying on the innocent and unarmed makes you just as guilty. There is gray area in this for me. Like I said you wanna protect yourself, then do it, but dont do it by fucking everybody up.
You know something in back of my head is telling me a white man is behind these Pirates.
C/S. But you will always have ignorance in the world, as well as on BGOL. The first time those pirates fuck with the wrong ship from the wrong country and get carpet bombs dropped on some of their villages, you'll see a lot of "foul" crying by everyone.
I personally feel, that if you steal from me ONCE, I am going to make it SO painful for you that you will NEVER do it again.
Now I'm not saying Somali women and children should die because of what these pirates do, but where is the deterrent for this type of behavior?
Until there is a sufficient deterrent to piracy, instead of it being pure reward for the pirates, you will continue to see this. And the price of our goods and services will go up.
Honestly, this is why I cannot be in public office, because I'm far to radical. It would seriously be "for every ONE American you take hostage, I will kill 10,000 of your people....you won't win that battle....and you'll get tired of the death and destruction of your villages, before I get tired of bombing them."
Think if that "boat" was your "home", with your family and children in it. What lengths would you go to protect it? I personally would empty every clip.
Oh yeah, Happy Easter.![]()

You know something in back of my head is telling me a white man is behind these Pirates.

They took another ship last night apart from the MAERSK LINE with Americans(its in Mombasa now)
Cant blame they are hustling like everyone else..ohh they have GPS and all the gadgets plus RPG's

A convoy of five trucks, each carrying five boats, goes through Galcayo on its way to Hobyo to supply the pirates
![]()
This Hobyo Branch store in Galkayo is supplying the pirates with food, drink and cigarettes. They call the owner to order what they need; then a truck goes from Galkayo to Hobyo with the items and sells them to the pirates for twice the normal price, partly contributing the country's inflation
Yeah because the pirates don't have free will.![]()
These pirates are often unemployed fishermen who have seen their fish stocks stolen by mostly European pirate fishermen. They have a choice of piracy or starving, and appear to have gone about thier piracy with as little violence as possible, and have created a business infrastructure for payment of ransoms that go over - among other places - London.
In addition Somalia is almost completely without government, and as Peter Lehr points out, the West actually prefers that to a it having a government with a Somali world view, and not a Western world view.
In other words this is once again a problem largely created by the greed and paranoia of the West. The pirates have responded to their very existential problems with courage and restraint.
Stop making these cats out to be Folk Heroes. These cats are thieves and murderers who kill thier own peoplle as easliy as drinking water. If they were really out to Help thier country they would have banded together to try and restore order. But these guys are just out for money. Period.

I don't think it has anything to do with free will. Operations like these have to be financed.
simple solution: stay out of somali waters
Wait til they meet these guys...

As I understand it a total of about $74 million has been paid in ransome: less than is paid to one 'top' banker in a good year, and about 10% of what a private equity fund might hope to 'earn' on a juicy deal.
I know which pirates worry me more...
The much more organised pirates in the Straits of Malacca apparently take much, much more, and the shipping companies just pay up as a cost of doing business...
I think we are seeing a Roman Circus in which the mob is being wound up to demand a good, and bloody show.
