The Detroit Pistons told thje press that A.I.'s "back" is acting-up, even though he just came off the DL because of his back. Just as well.

The Pistons provided the excuse of his "back", as the reason for his sudden departure. However, since his return from the DL, A.I. has hinted about his strong dislike at coming off the bench, but would try to fulfill that role. His attitude didn't reflect an any willingness to accept the change.

In fact, he's going to have to come to grips with that role. I don't see any team signing him with intention of having him as a starter. His future 'role' will be that of a bench player. Get use to it.

The Pistons are serious about finishing the season at the 7th or 8th spot and would like to achieve it without the services of either Sheed or A.I.

Remember a few weeks ago when he said he'd have no problem coming off the bench?? Anybody remember that, or am I talking ancient history??

At any rate.....

He shouldn't have been traded there in the first place...

I know that he wanted to play for a "contender", but what team in the top 5 in that conference could he go to where he would be the focal point of the offense? I thought that Detroit was the last place he could have gone because they run an offense based on ball movement and screens mostly...Iverson surely isn't known for that...

I think Iverson is one of the best guards in the league, but that doesn't mean that he can walk into any team and gel with them right off the jump. He needs to play for a team where he can control the ball most of the time. The Hornets today are a good example, but CP3 is more of a point guard than Iverson is. AI is a "dual guard" in most cases (esp. for offense), so he would have to be on a team that would have to revolve around him like the Sixers in the early 2000s were...

jayjay2's suggestion was a good one...

He has only been traded twice...the first time he wanted out of Philly and they granted it to him. Then Detroit traded Chauncey to the Nuggs so they can pick up AIs expiring contract. They are trying to work numbers for 2010 when the top free agents will be on the market. AI will be starting next year for another team....

Why would Larry Brown want to accept an 'earlier' headache? Playoffs are out of the question. Like I said previously, his future role--if any--will be the bench!

I think the bobcats will pick him up

Larry Brown had enough of A.I. in Philly. That was one of the reasons he left town. There is only 2 teams I see signing him as a starter : Timberwolves and the Raptors.

Rather than shitting on the guy, I offer advice: Stop with the chucking. Learn to play more without the ball. There is nothing worse for the flow of an offesne than one man who has to dribble around for 10-15 seconds trying to find a shot.

Let me save you some time: The shot is there, you just have to PASS rather than dribble to find it. If you ARE going to dribble around for so long, let it be for a TEAMATE'S shot, not for your own

Despite the fact that I've been critical of Iverson since his first season in the NBA, I've ALWAYS maintained that he could do anything on a basketball court if he WANTED to. To excel while only taking 10 shots a game would definitely be within his skill set. Even playing tough defense is. Only question is whether winning is more inportant to him than scoring. Or whether winning is more important than whinning

...gee, ya think?!?!

Curry: Iverson, Pistons 'Didn't Work'
More Pistons News

Are Allen Iverson's days in Detroit over?

According to the Detroit News, Pistons coach Michael Curry spoke on Saturday as though Iverson's tenture with the team is now over, talking about how both parties tried to make things work but it just did not happen.

"It just didn't work; it didn't blend well," Curry said before Saturday's 95-90 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. "There was a lot to do with guys changing roles and accepting different roles you have to play. It's unfortunate things didn't go as we thought they would."

Curry thinks Iverson, 33, still can be a force in the league.

"He's still a starter in this league; he's going to have a lot of success," Curry said. "This was a tough situation this year. As he gets older, he'll have to do different thing so his body can hold up for the rigors of an NBA season. He'll probably have to adapt a little bit, because I'm not sure how many teams will be centered just around him, but he's still a very capable player, and at times this year, he was really, really good for us.

"A lot of things maybe I could have done better, and the players could have done better, and maybe he could have done better. All of us, we haven't gotten it done this year. By no means do I want to make it seem it was just on Allen.

"The reality is we're in the position we're in, and we have to make the most of."
