NBA's 50 greatest: most overrated/underated?

this fool can't stop putting his foot in his unusually large and ignorant mouth.

the fakers were 30-16 (.652) BEFORE pau gasol.

the fakers were 22-5 (.815) the rest of the regular season in games with pau gasol.

sure, pau gasol isn't the reason. must be those lucky charms.

They also fail to mention that they were solid before Bynum got hurt. It wasn't all Kobe. It was also Bynum. All Laker fans are bias & don't give Gasol the proper credit because it is Kobe's team.

Re: No Colin

How the hell was it Kobe's fault that Jason Terry went off? Kobe wasn't guarding Terry. The lead evaporating is just due to poor coaching on Phil's part.

2 different stretches.

the lead evaporating is the segment that involves jason terry heating up and luke walton playing sloppy. that segment spans the end of Q3 and the opening of Q4. remember where luke walton's TO lead to jasno kidd's layup? then luke walton's miss turned into a points at the line for antoine wright? then luke walton bricked both FTs? then luke walton fouled james singleton for the 3 pt play?

that was all luke walton. so then coach jackson yanks luke walton and inserts tobe.

which leads to dallas growing the lead, which is the 2nd segment. tobe hacked brandon bass and put him on the line. tobe's TO lead to brandon bass on the line again. jason terry didn't play a role in this segment, and actually had a lackluster performance the rest of the way.

tobe added a few FGs, but so did trevor ariza, right? if anyone is going to be singled out for Q4 contribution, i say it has to be lamar odom or pau gasol.

This was one of Kobe's most efficient games. He didn't take any bad shots after the first quarter.

that's what his thick-headed fans don't (or can't) understand. they can't comprehend that chucking tobe is a NEGATIVE. they can't fathom how one player scoring so much can be BAD for a TEAM.

today, 4 starters had double figure FGAs. bravo. tobe rationed his FGAs to 20, other teammates got to touch the ball, and guess what? it paid dividends as 4 starters scored in double figures. AMAZING. who'd have thought there was a correlation between the two? certainly none of the basketball "experts" on BGOL.

Re: No Colin

the lead evaporated due to luke walton. dallas grew the lead because of tobe. timrock no doubt will offer some sort of protest (if he hasn't already), but it's just plain fact. i hope he's actually watching the game.

Like always, its kobes fault. I already knew that. What about Sashas 3 misses while wide open?

Re: No Colin

Cranrab best bench as in if ANY coach had to choose a bench they would choose the lakers bench.

the bench sucked today, but that was kobes fault. Luke waltons great basketball iq wasnt so great today. He did get a good steal though. But he also committed a lot of mistakes. I dont know what sasha and jordan were doing today.

Re: No Colin

what about sasha vujacic's misses? are you going to affirmatively assert something we can discuss? or just drop vague references to divert blame?

You didnt mention it, so i thought i would. He was part of the blame as well. He couldnt knock down a shot to save his life tonight

Re: No Colin

like always, absolve tobe of any fault. i already knew that.

i give him credit, you give him blame. thats the way it goes right? I'll let you point out all the negatives, since you are so good at it.

yeah, my above quote is chock full of negatives. guess it doesn't pay to be accurate on BGOL. do they have a website where you guys buy those tobe-slanted glasses?

It was a sarcastic remark. Enjoy the rest of your night Cranrab

Fuck outta here you clown.

You said he was one of the best post defenders in the history of the NBA. How can you be one of the best post defenders in the history of the game and NEVER even make an all defensive team in your entire career...not even one:lol::lol::lol: fucka outta here.

And you clown..you were the original dumbass that also said Sheed was a great overall defender because he provides great help defense when the perimeters player funnel players to the Middle. So he's one of the best post defenders of all time and also a great help defender..however,..he can't manage to make an all nba defensive team just once in his career?

Sheed is a great post defender head up I feel like I'm talking to a fucking statue with this stupidity.man up in the post guarding a big man Sheed is great says Duncan and the coaches and other players I named. Being named all defense doesn;t mean that there aren;t other great defenders out there Sheed has never had gaudy shot block numbers but has always been a great man up defender, Dudes like Camby get DPOY based opn shot blocking weakside but he gets absued by any center with size man up in the post thats the difference if you actually knoiew the fucking game idiot.

However, my case still stands. Ben Wallace was the real shot blocker on that team, the defensive player of the year, and the real defensive threat to team.. if you actually watch the game, you will notice that Rasheed actually gets a lot of his blocks on the perimeter challenging mid range shots one on one... not on help...

LOL Sheed blocked 2bpg in 22 games with the Pistons. Wallace was the main defender but adding that other defender in the paint solidified the Pistons. But now you backtracking with the bullshit here now Sheed is blocking shots on the perimeter now lol come on man dude was a helpside defender that solidified the post defense. They were great when guys penetrated blocking and changing shots. You gotta know thats the case and get off this bullshit you saying just for arguments sake.

Kobe gets contained by Prince. Of course a person that averages 30 points is going to eventually score 30+ points when he gets 10 chances to do it. For the most part, Kobe gets contained by Prince. Watching the games reveals that and looking at the stats confirms it..no matter how much you want to revise history.

Prince does a better job than most but Kobe gets numbers and has blown Prince's ass up they have played 9 times in 5 years with the next game coming up here soon. I would never say contain Kobe thats not accurate.

Revisionist history at its best. You Kobe stans always want to make up some bullshit to attempt to cover up the fact that Kobe just makes bad decisions.

What are you talking about "crowded" Kobe. The Pistons didn't double team Kobe no "overplay" him. We let him shoot jumpers and he took them at every available chance...bad fall-aways, awkward shots with Prince in his face..etc... He wasn't double-teamed...he was defended well one on one and forced a ton of bad shots.

You can look up former posts about his bad basketball IQ. I've wasted enough time in this thread with Kobe stans.

I wish I had been apart of those threads to obliterate them as well. Nothing in Kobe's whole resume suggest he makes bad decisions how can someone who is voted most clutch by players, coaches and analyst be a bad decision maker wouldn't bad decision show especially in clutch moments. wouldn't the panic of pressure cause a bad decision maker to make even worse decisions. lol fuck outta here.

this is just baseless hate he makes less turnovers the LBJ and Wade and only makes .2 more turnovers than Mj did for his career yet he's a bad decision maker shut the fuck up with this hate filled bullshit.

WRONG. Shaq was shooting 63 percent from the field. He stopped getting the touches after game two...let's guess who was taking those shots away by hijacking the offense

More looney nonsense Shaq would have had to average 45 ppg for the Lakers to have beat the Pistons with their depth and balance Kobe played porly but Shaq wasn't gonna dominate them.LOL and the fg % argument is more bullshit Shaq always shoots high percentages he's dunking and laying up the ball within a 5 ft circle. thats always gonna be the case he shoots high now but thats no rationale for him beating a team single handily. Kwame brown shot 53% for the lakers one season should he have been the 1st option as well. lol

so cut it out.

Fuck outta here... Shaq played the same on the pick and roll that he's played his entire career.

You are doing everything fucking thing to avoid admitting that your man-crush on Kobe is refusing you to see that a player shooting 25 shots at game at only 30+ percent is most likely going to lead to his team losing..you damn clown

More bullshit Shaq's been piss poor at pick and roll defense his whole career got him beat in Phoenix last season getting him beat now and has always been a hindrance remember how Bibby manipulated the Lakers with the Kings all those times in it Shaq wouldn't come out. Kobe contributed to the lakers losing sure but idots who think one guy can ruin a whole series when there are 4 other guys and a whole other end of the floor to play makes you look like a fucking idiot.

Uh yes Pau getting traded to the Lakers helped them get to the Finals who is debating that.

But you are the fucking idiot Believes a guy who hadn't won a playoff team is suddenly the main guy on the Lakers team.

as Van Gundy said today Gasol is simply the best 2nd best player on a team.

but you think the Lakers are his team lol man you are a stupid ass youngin that hasn't watched enough hoops or yet alone played. lol

I get it you hate the Lakers and Kobe fine just own the shit and move the fuck on.

But to say Kobe is being led by a guy who has never won a playoff game is nonsensical. Borderline criminally retarded really.

I guess Gasol won MVP last season as well.

lol man stop it.

I still blame Phil. He should have never taken out Gasol, Ariza & Kobe all at the same time. Those were the hot hands & the bench was laying bricks. He expects players to come in after 5 minute rest & light it up. Same with Gasol in the fourth quarter.

I agree that Kobe taking 15-22 shots is enough. Those 30-40 shot nights usually end up in a loss. Unlike Iverson, he can be effective with limited touches. But now that he has a reliable second option in Gasol, he doesn't mind giving up the rock. I will say Kobe wants to win all the time but he also wants to make it look like he led the charge. This is why he hasn't won a title without Shaq. On those teams when the Lakers were a 6-8 seed or missed the playoffs, he didn't have an option like Gasol, which led to him trying to do everything & ultimately failing miserably.

your first statement and final supposition clearly earmark you in the bottom bracket of BGOL's least knowledgeable with regard to basketball. i pray that you have more content specific knowledge in your chosen profession. whatever that may be.

xfactor, would you mind please providing a link to the thread you made about tobe and "clutch"?

Kobe contributed to the lakers losing sure but idots who think one guy can ruin a whole series when there are 4 other guys and a whole other end of the floor to play makes you look like a fucking idiot.

a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. ever heard that before, dumb ass?

:smh:

it's obvious why you frequently make reference to coach van gundy, analysts and other anonymous references. it's because you have NO personal knowledge about basketball yourself.

continue outing yourself. it must be depressing when google lets you down, huh?

I can tell you two of the most overrated NBA players in history are. In 1996 Seattle signed 7' 1" stiff Jim McIlvaine to a $33 million contract over the Rain Man, Shawn Kemp and caused the Sonics to trade Vin Baker and Terrell Brandon. Prior to that disastrous decision, the Sonics were a legitimate finals contender.

In 1989 the Hawks singed 7 foot Jon Koncak to a $13million contract, more than at the time. Jordan, Bird and Magic. The Hawks are just now coming out of that salary cap burden

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
I remember Jim. And Terrell Brandon, he just could never stay healthy after leaving the cavs. Sad, because he was on his way to being great.

i see the case for overpaid, but not over-rated.

Sort of back on subject:

Underrated: Kevin Durant (As a second year player, he is averaging 26 points. He also improved his shooting % & is hitting 3's at a 45% clip. Amazing!)

Overrated: Greg Oden (Even if he was healthy, he has two left feet, is slow & can't shoot outside of 10 feet)

Just saw the list again. How is Wes Unseld there over Nique? Dave Debusschere? GTFOH. How do you shit on Larry Nance also?

Go to bed you fucking clown. It's past your bed time. You said Rasheed Wallace was one of the best post defenders in the history of the NBA and he hasn't even made ONE defensive team...fuck outta here clown. You didn't say he was good..you said one of the best in the entire history of the NBA... Don't walk the statement back now dumbass :lol::lol:

LOL Sheed blocked 2bpg in 22 games with the Pistons. Wallace was the main defender but adding that other defender in the paint solidified the Pistons. You are clearly logically-challenged. I'm not walking the statement back. What I'm doing is explaining to you that Rasheed didn't rack up blocks because our guards funneled players to the middle. Just like he isnt racking up blocks when Iverson loses his man and he penetrates. Rasheed is a good one on one defender. He's not a good help defender. All it takes is watching a few games. How many Pistons games do you watch a year? I probably watch more in a week that you watch all year clown. Doing a google search and going to basketball-reference is only going to give you the stats. However, its not going to tell you how exactly those stats were compiled.

Prince does a better job than most but Kobe gets numbers and has blown Prince's ass up they have played 9 times in 5 years with the next game coming up here soon. I would never say contain Kobe thats not accurate.

I've seen Kobe barely break 20 several times against the Pistons. The Pistons contain him...the Finals series in reference is very thread is an example and Prince has Kobe as the main assignment and he wasn't getting help with double-teams and he was not funneling Kobe to the lane. That wasnt the pistons style of defense.

"As well"? clown:lol: You're clearly semantically challenged as well because you've have to do it "once" before you could do it "again"

25 shots a game at 38 percent is evidence enough of poor decision making. You don't even need to be half-intelligent to understand that. You're also deductively challenged as well obviously. We've already broken Kobe's struggles with decision making on the sports board. I'm not interested in regurgitating the argument. However, the stats provide enough evidence.

this is just baseless hate he makes less turnovers the LBJ and Wade and only makes .2 more turnovers than Mj did for his career yet he's a bad decision maker shut the fuck up with this hate filled bullshit.

Who is talking about Wade, Lebron, or MJ? What do they have to do with the 2004 lakers and the Finals? How many logical fallacies are you going to commit in your responses? If I had more time, I would expose every logical fallacy in all your posts.. you're entire response reeks of the logically-challenged.

Those other players are irrelevant.

The reality of the matter is that again in that series.. besides Kobe shooting 25 shots a game at 38 percent. He also lead his team in turnovers.

You can cry and bitch and moan all you want.. but those are the facts :lol::lol:

More looney nonsense Shaq would have had to average 45 ppg for the Lakers to have beat the Pistons with their depth and balance Kobe played porly

Another erroneous conclusion you just pulled out of your ass with no logical way to support it....hmmm..should I even be surprised anymore

but Shaq wasn't gonna dominate them.LOL and the fg % argument is more bullshit Shaq always shoots high percentages he's dunking and laying up the ball within a 5 ft circle.

Really. In your very disturbed logically-challenged world a dominant center shooting 63 percent from the field and completing dominating the opposing center is irrelevant. Sure...that makes sense

A team that excels with an offense that depends on post play and movement and you have a player that hijacks the offense, kills the post play, and destroys motion is irrelevant

thats always gonna be the case he shoots high now but thats no rationale for him beating a team single handily. Kwame brown shot 53% for the lakers one season should he have been the 1st option as well. lol

on how many FGAs per game. Be serious. You can't be that stupid.

More bullshit Shaq's been piss poor at pick and roll defense his whole career got him beat in Phoenix last season getting him beat now and has always been a hindrance remember how Bibby manipulated the Lakers with the Kings all those times in it Shaq wouldn't come out. You obviously can't read. Shaq has never been good on the pick and roll. I said he played it that year the same as he has any other day in his career. So using deductive reasoning... If Shaq lead the Lakers to titles playing the pick and roll in a sub-par fashion, obviously that is not a reason to conclude the his weakness prevents his teams from winning. Save up some money and pay for a philosophy class and learn some logic.

Just saw the list again. How is Wes Unseld there over Nique? Dave Debusschere? GTFOH. How do you shit on Larry Nance also?

My only problem with Nique is that he didn't make his teammates better. I know I am exaggerating, but I don't ever remember Nique getting an assist. I used to have season tickets in the 80s to the Pistons so I used to see Nique play live.... I mean you can't deny that he was a great player, but I always thought his game was limited. He was just a great scorer and that's it.

both adam morrison and greg oden are getting paid the same amount of Kevin durant.

he will be paid very well soon.

Just saw the list again. How is Wes Unseld there over Nique?

when i first reviewed this list, wes unseld caught my eye too. but then i thought about what a tough SOB he was, being the back line of the bullets, and how his outlet passes slightly innovated the game. so i said let it be.

dominique wilkins was never able to escape his image of a 1 dimensional player: a dunker. that's why these young kids with publicists are advised not to participate in multiple dunk contests any longer. even though he did develop a respectable shot, dunking is what people remember. but that's partially understandable. coach jones (boston celtics) and EC scouting reports always said to let him shoot.

in greg oden's final college season, both XF and i posted about how much premature publicity was being generated about greg oden. we both commented on how peculiar it was that so many people had created these wild comparisons and tremendous expectations for greg oden before he had even played a single professional game. we also both commented on the possibility of injury, and well, look what has happened.

i hope when he returns we can all get to see what he is capable of before we put an overrated label on him.

eewwll, you ignorant slut.

so what if shaquille o'neal shot 63.1% in the NBA finals.

i mean, NO starting center for more than 20 years has been able to average 63% in the regular season, so it OBVIOUSLY means nothing to do that in the NBA finals. shit, are you stuck on stupid?

and i know you're a stickler for details, so i'll even add that NO starting center for at least the past 15 years has been able to average 63% in the NBA finals, so it DEFINITELY means nothing for shaquille o'neal to have done that.

so to recap, given that shaquille o'neal was performing at a once-in-a-lifetime level, YOU ARE CLEARLY A COMPLETE DUMBFUCK for believing that shaquille o'neal deserved to have been taking the lion's share of the FGAs. damn, i swear some of you dumbfucks just don't understand that tobe was on some next-level type shit and you crabs-in-a-barrel bitches want to bring him down just because some big freak was shooting at a unbelievable, phenomenally high rate.

hi haters!
