But it seems like people are making more out of this that it should be....I mean she clicked out on him they fought..He kicked her ass..Based off the pic's...I feel like, hell they are young and depending on your background you saw this kind of stuff all the time in the family. Do I think they should be together? Nope...But could they still make it? I think so:dunno:

Discuss!

They both young, it was one incident, they have to make the decision to be together. The only time that family should step in is if becomes a pattern. One thing that will help the situation is counseling, for both of thm.

I do believe that she had a small part to play in the situation, whether it was a lil slap, poke, or a damn haymaker cross his jaw.

I agree w/ all except what is in red...
My boys are 16 and 8..They have a little sister that is 2
They gives a shit...If a dude puts his hands on her-They are kicking ass 1st and sorting out the situation later...
Waiting for something to become a pattern may be too late.

I'm pretty tired of this whole thing ... they are young and can learn and grow from this ... people are being too hard on the both of them ... they both made a mistake and everybody needs to just let them move onf rom it ... but they do mos def need counselling ... I don't think they should stay together though ... they should take it as a learning experience and move on IMO

My feelings exactly!

People like to see couples work it out, especially young couples that we have grown accustomed to seeing. i am reminded of a classic my mom used to spin when my sister and i used to have to clean the apartment on sundays. Betty Wright would sing about families having get-togethers for the intended purpose of uniting a couple fallen on rocky times. "No pain, no gain" was the song's apt title.

i so hate the rumor mill, and although i can't allow you to envoke the role models of my formative years without moral judgment, this does reflect in the same manner as seeing someone in the neighborhood choking their girlfriend into unconsciousness, or being hit in the head with a pan or stabbed. Thus i must agree that many of us have seen worse, and our children may have to be hardened by twice as much. My most honest thought is to wish them the best of life with the decision they have choosen and to allow them their piece of love and attachment. For they are adults, and no matter what, they don't clothe or feed my child, nor do their actions have supreme reign in his formative years.

i am a little disturbed by white mainstream media(it is an owl post, you know...)and their interpretaion. i understand that we all would like to be apart of the world's most discussed issues, and those who are capable have a tendency to overplay their self-righteousness. How many women has the Don been through? Has Oprah ever been able to convert an exclusive dating arrangement into a marriage? Ellen kissed a girl...and apparently liked it, but how many times has she used her force to sway a decision in a relationship? Is she even being fair by judging young Chris in a situation where we have yet to even conclude that he has warranted the title of 'abuser'?

Considering the extremely high incidence of domestic violence in the black community (and the fact that murder by a partner is the #1 cause of death for black women between 15 and 49), it's rather disturbing that someone would excuse or try to downplay this very PUBLIC incident (which simply shines a light on what goes on too often everyday between so-called "lovers," black and otherwise). It really HAPPENED people.

This DENIAL (and desire to sweep it away) just plays into the whole pattern. Chris Brown's father had domestic violence problems himself. Brown claimed that he was gonna be a better man, but we see that it is difficult to unlearn what some are taught as children. Now we also wanna teach people how to DOWNPLAY such incidents. It just goes on and on. There is a real issue here. You wanna wait until someone's dead before you care?

Of course, if he'd killed her, which he easily could have given the type of injuries she suffered, there'd still be apologists here. Sad. Tragic. :smh:

BTW, part of the pattern of the reaction to such incidents that battered woman (black or otherwise) have, is to reconcile with her abuser. No surprise there. It takes a while for the victim to fall out of love, and the instinct is to protect him from the outside world and the law. That's why she needs help from older and more thoughtful people around her, including the black community which, sadly, is always more sympathetic to the perpetrator than the victim.

In all of my travels on this earth, I have met 3 women whom I might consider could physically harm me without a weapon. I would never hit a women. There is no reason. Those are the only 3 that could hurt me, punching, whatever. You disrespect men again, by giving an excuse.

Those 3 could hurt me because of how I felt and feel about them. One of them is my mother.

You sensationalized. I know why. I am done with this thread.

Ratings.....white America still loves public lynchings.

All the fake ass tabloids:eek:

True...

OK.. I grew up in a household that was opposite. My grandmother would beat the shit out of my grandfather. I mean so serious, once w/ the poles that put up our canopy. My grandfather never put his hands on her. Instead he was a raging alcoholic. Eventually they divorced. Got back together and split again. Then 10 years later they reconciled. I say all this to say that women are not above being abusive. If she was abusive to him in the same way, then maybe the beating wasn't unwarranted. If my grandfather had of beat my grandmothers ass after all those years it would have been deserved because she was abusive to him.

Is Chris Brown wrong? YES. Do we know what caused the fight? NO. No one knows. Everything in the media was geared against CB. I feel that EVERYONE should stay out of it until all the facts are out, which will be never. Should they be together? I don't know, nor do I care. It only matters because people are so into celebrity lives & the media. Hence TMZ having a leaked picture of Rihanna. Someone chose to risk their career for some quick $$ to feed the media's obsession with their lives.

WTF??? It wasn't a "fight." It was a BEATDOWN. Doesn't matter what "caused" it. (Wouldn't matter if it was two MEN involved.) Only one person lost consciousness and ended up in the hospital. If a cop had done this to a black teenager you wouldn't be worried about the "cause" and a rush to judgement. Why the sympathy for the abuser in this case? (I know the answer.)

This explains your bitterness, and isolation.......

Too bad you can't as glibly comment on why so many black men blindly defend (and become) thugs and women-beaters.

Your concern should be about their (and their victims') welfare, not mine.

What is the answer Blunt?
How and why do you consider this a beat down? Because of the pics?
I didnt know she ended up IN the hospital. I thought she went for observation. I also thought she gave the police a statement at the scene, did she pass out and then woke up?
I am dead serious I havent been following this enough to know the facts. Tell us..

Read the police and medical reports. One person was left near-unconscious at the scene. The other fled. Get real.

See above.

What do you need to know? Does a woman have to end up in a morgue for you to take a beating (not to mention biting and choking) seriously. Good grief. Chris Brown isn't that cute, is he???

(Did you catch the part about Brown watching his dad beating his mom? Brown knows something about abuse, and I'm sure he never thought he'd repeat the sins of the father. But there ya go. It's not unusual. Now you want to downplay it so another generation can pick up the banner.)

:D
Get Real?
Let me explain something to you...I VOLUNTEER at a domestic violence shelter. I see all sorts of issues. Enough to know that EVERY situation of a male/female fight is not a situation of oooooh he was soooooooo wrong. I am sorry but women SHOULD NOT put their hands on men then run call the cops. I think we should be just as accountable for our actions.

I asked a serious answer because I wanted to know. Does it change my mind? NOPE
I still stand behind my statement. They are young and immature. BOTH of them. Is he that cute? You got me really twisted.

And you said it right this is not UNUSUAL...Again do I think he should have put his hands on her? Nope. Do I think that they could work this out? Yep?
Should they? In my opinion...Nope...

Thanks for answering my questions in your own way.
For the record it was he stepfather who beat his mom...Does it matter? Nope just stating facts.

Hugz?????

Your generalization is sicken of black men. Maybe you should spend more time developing better interpersonal skills, weight management, and change you legal domicile. Your opinions seem to be based on whatever media gossip you spend time believing to be the gospel, and limited exposure with real people further removes you from any practical opinion of us.

Not everyone has made the poor choices you have......

I think rihannas people started this fire, so they can get paid for her not showing up..

I am guessing if they can prove it was reasons beyond her fault, they might get some money, but if it is totally on her, nothing coming through..

that was a big night and from my limited dont really give a fuck about so called stars, perspective, they were both supposed to perform, and by not showing up, dollars were lost..

and especially now and days, people want their money...

stars arent so important because of their talent, they are important because a lot of people eat off their gifts. and their food didnt come that night..

thus putting it out there, that it was soley chris's fault right away..

Rihanna is a cool chick for not letting him take the blame for this... if it comes out and I doubt it, that chris is an abuser, than she was wrong..

but chris and abuser.. just cant see it, he may have anger issues but like so does christian bale.

and where was oprah when sean penn was kicking madonnas ass...

society loves putting a blackface on violent crimes...

sure there are black people that partake in domestic violence, but to act like we have a monopoly on the crime is just fucking retardedly racist and utterly stupid!

Like father like son.

The black rate is the highest. Facts are facts. Your excuse-making post just reinforces why that's likely so.

Good article on the topic:

The afore mentioned gentleman did wrong and if the law sees fit will be punished.
But we are basing all of our speculation on rumour.
The only facts we have are that that the young lady sustained very visible cuts and bruising.
As all our assumptions are based on rumour I'm intrigued that you have not addressed the rumour that the young lady was complicit in what would appear to be a violent outcome.
We are all human and there is a possibility that the end result was an extreme one as a result of extreme provocation.

Only those looking for excuses to defend Brown.

And the police report. That's enough.

I deal in facts, not silly "rumors." And there's no way this, or any, "young lady" could be "complicit" in a beatdown of this sort. Why would you even consider using the word "complicit?" One person walked (ran) away without injury, and the other was sent to the hospital.

We are all human and there is a possibility that the end result was an extreme one as a result of extreme provocation.

Where do people come up with this shit??? Just making things up in order to excuse an abuser. No wonder this type of behavior is so rampant. You and others keep confusing self-defense with a horrific, one-sided beatdown.

You forget my friend...We are human.
Probably the most violent species to inhabit this earth.
Our nation states were created out of violence, law isd maintained by the threat of violence.
We all have buttons that can be pressed that will cause us to react violently...It is an intergal part of the human species. I'm sure your not suggesting that the young naive man attacked his girl with no provocation???
Admittedly he was wrong to do it, but it happened, and it would appear that the lady has forgiven him. I don't think we can classify him as a serial abuser just yet...
Have a heart mate, Rhianna has!!!

We live in an all access world in the 2009. Everybody has an opinion nowdays. OJ whipped Nicole's ass all the time and the first time we heard about it was when she got killed. Dennis Rodman beat Carmen Elektra's ass after she beat his ass and she left. Didn't hear about.

Today if you do anything there are 200 cameras snapping pics and rolling footage. Hard to make a mistake today. Celebrities are people. People fight. It's just they don't have other people recording the shit 24/7. :smh:

ummm and some people are also abusive. in my own personal life, i have not experience a fight like that, and if i did, i would consider it abuse.

i think ppl are capin for CB cuz he is young...who do you think old abusers were...young abusers

i wonder were ppl just saying they are young to Ike n Tina, Bobby n Whitney, K-Ci and MJB, James Brown and damn near all of his women and etc.

also, Rihanna is gonna get most of the flack for staying as women do usually in these situations

let's not use youth to excuse behavior, let's use youth to try to correct behavior. being in the public eye just magnifies that need, especially since they have a young fan base.

both of them need help and counseling.

I agree with the bolded. I cannot and WILL NOT excuse what CB did to Rihanna, and I don't give a fuck who threw the first punch/hit, etc. It's never right to retaliate in such a way, man OR woman. FUCK THAT!:angry:
