The rumor that the Phoenix Sun's might 'trade' Stoudemire has been simmering for some time. But where--or with whom? The 'contenders' probably aren't willing to part with key personnel to satisfy Phoenix, making such a trade a little difficult, and money, alone, is not part of the equation.
The offensive system used by some of the contenders is quite difficult to absorb this late in the season....actually, one contender, AKA, Los Angeles Lakers. They really don't need him.Plus, 'ZEN' is out of the question. Andrew Bynum should be back in a couple of months (fingers crossed), and Phoenix would probably want Lamar Odom---out of the question.
The other serious contenders---Boston,Cleveland,San Antoni, and New Orleans have no 'tradable' (realistic) players, either. This is assuming that the Suns would want a 'Big Man' in return.
I would not be surprised if Stoudemire ended up in New York. Afterall, his career flourished while D'Antonio coached the Suns. The hold-up might be due to the lukewarm relationship existing betwen D'Antoni and the Sun's GM, Steve Kerr.
Something should happen either during the All-Star break, or shortly thereafter.
